What' s wrong with this? Someone is advocating for a feature that would allow more people to play games.
They’re advocating removing a feature. This is the kind of stuff they would eventually lead to some sort of censorship that actually matters. Not that I want my “teen girl hentai anti-censorship”. But things were eventually game designers might not include their original vision because they were under the impression people might be afraid of it. Maybe it’s overkill but I could see this becoming an issue that will grow and expand into creative decisions not just options.

It's official. A full 24 hours past without any Reeee mods, admin or Bdubs posting in the thread.

Cowards or MOBA told them to zip it. Take your pick.

I can never understand Era's obsession with race. I get it, it's important to give minorities a platform and a voice but this is a video about fucking Smash Bros. Do they also understand what the word minority means?

Also, why are they trying to throw Scott the Woz under the bus? Isn't he one of the more wholesome or widely respected Youtube content creators?
I don’t get it either. It’s the most exclusive version of inclusive I’ve ever seen. It’s ridiculous. People should be lifted based on their content and what they do not their color or religion. I think the idea of pushing that into anything is terrible for everyone. I don’t need to know someone’s ethnicity to decide whether I value their opinion on anything. If their opinion is valid it speaks for itself I don’t care what they look like or what they believe in.

Only ERA could be so heartless to hate on Sakurai
That fucking racist can get fucked.
Bigot!

How dare he not put FF7 Barret, Gears Coletrain, Deathloop Cole, Tekken Eddie Gordo and Madden 2004 Michael Vick in Smash!!!!!!

If someone has a burner account it would be fun to suggest that Def Jam Icons exist lol

The "history of ____" bans crack me up. Does the fact that this place allows users with a "problematic history" to continue posting create a weird paradoxical situation where this site is actually allowing the sort of behavior they claim to be against?
Sinophobia? I hope this guy had like a previous history of that because it doesn’t exactly stand out at some racial thing that’s been screenshot.

White supremacist!!! But yeah, people who push for "diversity and inclusivity" are the most hate-filled people nowadays. See how their inclusion and focus on CRT and SRT made sub forums and whole ethnic groups leave the site. These theories are meant to push people apart, not bring them together like most HR people would say.

It's inclusion and diversity of color to them, but in color only, not thought.

You veer off their mental plantation, and their true racist along with every other -ist and -ism comes out, and it's only okay when they do it. Some things have never changed in the past 150+ years (millennia's) of ideology.

This thread here is PEAK Era! Such a positive and wholesome thread, only three posts in and it's completely derailed by “problematic" allegations and racism. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
This is the Thread that made me request a self ban and leave this whole place.

Honestly that place is depressing. You can't be happy for 1 second. You have to be constantly reminded to be depressed because that's how things should be.

They seem more obsessed over hearing themselves talk about how high and mighty they are than actually doing something about the subject of the matter

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Yeah sure. I'll hook you up with an admin. I'll link you to my Ko-Fi page for...administrative expenses. My mental health isn't the best and I need some support of the financial type.
Almost had me then. Then realised your sentence made sense so couldn’t be fury of the furries.

Its adding a feature. Nothing at all is removed, there's just an additional part of the settings menu. It has nothing to do with censorship.

So more time and money used for something not game related in a age of delays with devs already not having time to delivery what they want… ok.

The same argument could be made against any accessibility option, which you said you were all for. Ultimately Obsidian spent money on helping more people to play their game. I don't see any issue with developers spending money to help some people, even if that group is small.

No, my issue is a person so fragile to the point they refuse to face a dumb phobia even in a make believe situation. Doesn't matter if its Arachnophobia, Ophidiophobia, Cynophobia, Acrophobia or whatever.

Why does that bother you thought? A fragile person enjoying a video game is still a person enjoying a video game, which is a good thing.

There are healthy levels of fragility and unhealthy ones.

Not going mountain hiking because you're afraid of heights is an healthy level.
Not flying a plane IN A VIDEOGAME because you're afraid of heights isn't healthy.

Not to mention phobias you can't simply be shielded from in real life like trypanophobia, or arachnophobia itself.

Them getting over there phobia wood definitely be the best thing. But I still think its a nice thing of Obsidian to do to allow people to enjoy the game, rather than thinking "these people don't deserve to enjoy the game because of how fragile they are"

I can see it leading to design choices, forced by corporations upon designers with a vision not originally intended. Appeasement and changes that, in my opinion, are just censorship without a patch. I guess we will just have to disagree.
Also we have to consider the source, and not just because it is ResetError, let’s be real this person does not have arachnophobia, they don’t like spiders. Not a legitimate version that is diagnosable, hard to the point of altering activity and changing lifestyle. Being scared of something isn’t a debilitating issue. I’m afraid of car accidents but I still have to drive. If every time something appeared in the game that someone didn’t like we would lose out on a lot of games. If someone wants to play a horror game but is afraid of certain things in it should the option to censor things that are clearly in the game exist? I just think it goes a lot deeper, and I see appeasement as some thing that can lead to real issues in the future. I have epilepsy so I avoid games like infamous first light. Because the fact of life is if you are unable to do something, sometimes not always, you just need to not do it. If that became an option their would end up being an option to censor (or pixilated or whatever they want to do to hide original designs) everything in a game because Everyone is afraid of something. At that point it would be developing your own game before you start a developers storyline. Changing animations or characters that you don’t like.

Wouldn't it have been better if they thought: "Lets help these people get over their fears in a safe enviroment instead of enabling it" ?

Just a quick note as well, all that being said if a developer chooses to put something like that in his or her game of their own accord then I applaud that. My real concern is that eventually it would become a standard that some developers don’t want to put in because it is now the norm. Because someone somewhere was forced or bullied into adding it into their game and now it’s some thing everyone wants to appease the masses. And if you don’t do it you’re a bigot and a disabled person hater.
