£135 for a book.

Not just any book, but the Folio Society edition of A Feast for Crows in their ASOIAF range. I have the other three, so need to buy this and Dance when that gets released. Like anything from the FS, the quality is just mind blowing. Sound investment.

Holy shit, that is amazing. Now browsing this Folio Society's site.....

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
I got a nice pocket hardback copy of Oliver Twist with gilded pages for 25¢. Feckin nice.

General question. If someone has a luxury car, and you decide to park at the farther end of the parking lot to keep away from other vehicles and "accidental dings" does that make the car a target? I suppose it depends on people either being careless or assholes.
i don't think it makes it a target. more noticeable yeah but if anyone does damage it then it's not cause of where it's parked. like you say it'll happen if they are careless/assholes.

my car was parked in a bay. the end one. so there was a car to my left but on the right side (which was damaged) there is a bit of grass and a curb. for someone to have damaged it with their car they'd have needed to go up the curb and drive over the grass. if it was a car there would be way more damage. it definitely looks like someones took a key or something and had a good scratch.

because i'm bored i made a sketch lol:

I bought some service on my old vehicle
GoPro 10 [new cold weather batteries sold me on this]
new skis
new ski bindings
In progress: ski boots [they didn't have my size cause of supply issues]

i forgot i bought a stupid fucking MARKUS ikea chair for £165. it was meant to be delivered yesterday but it's a fucking disaster driving anywhere right now so delivery driver is having a nightmare probably. took me 3 and a half hours just to drive to the otherside of the city the other day. my current chair is a pain the arse literally so i need something new and my work has this chair and it's comfy so i bought it.

i'm kicking myself for cancelling my switch oled pre order. can't find the thing anywhere now. well, actually there's a store 230 miles away on island in the atlantic that has one. i'd have to drive 4 and a half hours then get on a ferry for 3 hours lol. if i can't get an OLED in the next couple weeks i'll just grab a lite. i'm only really wanting to play Shin Megami Tensei V and eventually BOTW2.

I had Akira laminated posters, gave them to a kid as it didn't fit anywhere in my house unfortunately compared to my old bed.

I wouldn't exactly call Iron Heart designer. They are pretty much anti-fashion. All of their clothes are made on pre-ww2 looms and machines and styled to be similar to early mid-century clothes. Mostly everything they make has the Japanese motorcycle enthusiast in mind.
The definition of luxury- trust me, I live in France I cannot walk 10 meters without bumping into 5 brands like that. I don’t say they are bad - I am very happy that history and expertise command such a high price among the affluent.

I needed some good true wireless earbuds for my online team meetings, and especially important some with optional passthrough functionality (I have a hard time speaking without hearing my own voice).

Bought these on tuesday.

Jabra Elite 85T. So far so very good, and pleasantly surprised that simultaneous use between phone and computer is completely seamless.

Edit: I don't remember the price exactly, maybe about $200?

The SCS F5 are great. My wife has them on her 100 series. Been looking to get a Slee front and rear bumper for hers but everything is sold out everywhere.

Wow that looks fantastic! I'm after these exact wheels, just in 17''. Hah yeah trying to build a car right now is next to impossible.

i'm about £485 down over the last few days. bought these last night. was a bit drunk and was on ebay. £30 for the raichu figure and £40 for the plush thing. don't mind the price for the figure but kicking myself for paying fucking £40 on a plush lol. yeah i like raichu he's always been my favourite pokeman. why the fuck did i buy a raichu figure? i remember having that one as a kid. it was my favourite raichu toy. the ebay seller had another one with both Pikachu + Raichu but that was £40 and the only thing Pikachu is good for is evolving into Raichu. Plus i think the japanese packaging looks cooler.

One thing about the Folio Society that I dislike is the multiple versions of each book. There are several editions of Bram Stoker's Dracula and each of them have different covers and sheaths. How about they make the best version of a Dracula book and have that be readily available on the website instead? Another problem is the higher price point, which I'm aware it's because of the materials, but paying £100+ when there are excellent releases in the £20-30 seems ridiculous.

Sorry to disappoint you but that's Chinese, not Japanese so it's very likely a knock-off too.

I'll admit. The £135 per book ASOIAF book is insane, but everything about the books are absolutely stunning. Highest quality paper, gorgeous artwork, slipcase etc. They're also massive in size with some books going over 1000 pages. They're so big that they have to be split into two volumes each.

Folio do release new editions of certain books, but I'm sure these are just the classics and titles in the public domain. However, this is actually a good thing for book sellers and collectors like myself.

Do you own any of those versions of Dracula? If you own the one in the bottom picture, which is the 2008 folio release, then depending on it's condition, you could sell it for between £200-£300. That's a decent investment considering it would have been sold for around £40 by the FS in 2008.

aw well :messenger_pensive: i'll keep it anyway. most of the other raichu figures are in bad condition. even if it's a knock off it's still sealed in the box.

there is another picture of the back. it says it's a TOMY. i can't read chinese obviously hope i can find out if it's real or not.
