Hellblade II: Senua's Saga - New Trailer | The Game Awards 2021

I disagree. This looked maybe on par with the better looking last gen games and with close to zero gameplay interaction at that.

Maybe if they show more (actual impressive) stuff I will change my mind but as is I was not impressed.
Show me a last gen game on par with this. I'm curious to know what games you have been impressed by. Saying this looks last gen is a hell of a reach.

Watching the trailer in the highest resolution on my OLED, this moment (hell, the entire scene) really jumps off the screen as "next gen" looking.

Because even though its dark and saturated, everybody and everything is completely visible and looks convincingly lit; nothing too bright or too dark..as if they naturally belong, sat in that environment.

It makes it so hard to go back to things that look overly pre-baked or even "Hero lighting" on characters.
The illusion is badly broken in comparison to what Ninja Theory is doing currently.

I think it has to do with all the original assets and materials they've meticulously (and purposefully) scanned for the game, while everyone thought they were sitting around doing nothing after the 2019 reveal.

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
There is no better proove that this is the best looking game ever shown than the amount of "concern" and downplaying that eesily beats this year's hate on Halo and FH5 combined. Well done Ninja Theory.
I thought you weren't a fan of these sorts of cinematic style games

I agree, it looks like what I hoped for from next gen consoles, probably the first game to start matching that standard.
It seems MS knew exactly when to stop first party last gen games so these sort of projects didn't get held back.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Trailer looked good, yes it´s a very linear vertical slice but that´s pretty much in line with how the first game was.

Wish they had put a release date on the trailer.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Visually it looks great. But I'm a little disappointed that she isn't by herself this time. It's bound to make the experience different.

imagine getting 2 fire looking games like hellblade 2 and horizon forbidden west and you dumbasses want to compare and fight over them when both games will be available for you to buy and enjoy. only in gaming, is there such stupidity.

There's a reason I'm not in here wasting time with arguments. Art direction, story, both are drastically different. Both games look fantastic, one game is going for a darker tone and its visuals reflect that, another is going for a more colorful, more vibrant world, the art directions and games couldn't be more opposite from one another. I'm too busy enjoying games to bother with these kinds of things going forward. I make run a joke or two via twitter, but that's it.

Looks insane. Idk if it will be my type of game since I wasn't too hot on the first game but GP paid up till 2024 so gimme!

Finally, next gen. Looks incredible. Leaps and bounds better to other similar stuff Still cautious though, looks a bit too good to be true.
Agreed,

They kept saying it’s all gameplay but besides the running scenes I have a hard time believe most of that was gameplay. I can see it being downgraded once we see a playable final build.

Wow. After reading some of the reply's from concerned people who don't even seem interested in the game really made my head spin.
The game looks stunning, i honestly thought it looks like cgi. NT have really out done themselves cant wait!.

I don't see it. Will you be buying Hellblade 2?
In short words:
There are at least 3 "Walking Sims" that i like, because they have a very special atmosphere that play with your feelings, give you goosebumps and an oppressive feeling that makes it a unique experience: Hellblade, Shadow of the Colossus and The Vanising of Ethan Carter. Also none of these games have an excessive amount of cutscenes/dialogues.

If i buy Hellblade II? No, i don't buy Game Pass games from studios with money, i only support Indies.

The game looks good, but it's not the same level of quality that was shown back in 2019.

I'm sure this will be pointing out by digital foundry if they do a comparison.

and when Digital Foundry gushes over the visuals, i wonder what you’ll have to say.

lol I said the same thing as soon as I saw the black bars. I was like this game is FILMIC!!

I am a big fan of Ninja Theory. I loved Heavenly Sword. I even liked DMC, but man Hellblade 1 was a misfire and I really dont like where this is going. This studio is clearly extremely talented, but this is way too on-rails. Shouldve shown some combat sections. The first game's combat was simple but still kinda entertaining and very cinematic. The first game didnt have any of these setpieces so maybe thats what they are trying to show off here.

I’m not sure how you’ve seen anything to make you question the direction of the game.
every trailer has a purpose, and this one seems tailor made to show off the visuals, audio and atmosphere.

Aside that, they’ve massively invested more in animation and combat. Much, more focus on combat, with a much bigger team
Its reasonable to expect a much bigger blowout at E3 2022.

The only thing that's surprised me in the chat about the trailer is we've not heard from the "chromatic aberration is the worst" brigade!

I think this trailer shows the value of it as part of a full-screen grading/post-fx pass.

I mean it's fine to compare and discuss games, but area like this is kinda weird imo. Zelda botw grahics weren't too cutting edgeand it was running in a Jurassic hardware, even for it's time but yet it was still one of the best gaming experience you can have.

Loved the first game and I'm trying to go into this one as blind as possible. Any hints at what the gameplay will be like in this one? Just like the first? More action orientated?

Outside of this trailer, we have no idea what the scope and scale of the game is. I think it's safe to assume it's going to be more of the same but on a bigger scale.

I don't care if they do. They already pointed out back during the reveal trailer that the first footage showed evidence of CGI.

I wouldn't say that looks real, although it does looks as good as some pre-rendered CGI.
Also why even drag Alloy into this? All that serves to do is devolve things into console warring.

The top version clearly looks more detailed and life like, especially in motion, but the bottom one still looks impressive and is one of the most detailed character models in a commercial game thus far.

Incorrect. They said it showed evidence of being real time or in engine. Based on artefacts you would see with offline renderers.

Its the same model with different lighting and textures. Ignoring the facial pose is key in realizing.

False.

But that perfection of geometric detail at all distances when the camera moves is an aspect of the trailer that makes me think it's pre-rendered. I can imagine these assets looking this good close to the camera when the LOD is highest, but holding up so perfectly into the distance and also not showing any form of visible LOD switching - that's perhaps a bridge too far.

You can literally see the environment forming their detail in the new gameplay trailer.

The character and environment detail aren't nearly the same as it was shown in 2019, which means it was pre-rendered.

I see some Xbox guys are already using this game as their "trophy" game — hopefully their interest in this game is more than that.
I am looking forward to playing it and will plan on finishing the first. I got it at launch but never got around to it (including Horizon Zero Dawn) — all due to BOTW/Destiny 2. Can't wait!

Sorry but u are wrong.

First you picked the wrong quote. They were talking about depth of field on objects when questioning realtime or not. There were artefacts displayed you dont get from offline rendering.

they were talking about environment details too, which is exactly how nanite works

I didn't pick the wrong quote.

He went over the environment detail and his conclusion is that it was pre-rendered. He further explained this by going over Hellblade 1 and how detail would fade in and out, which doesn't happen in the 2019 trailer. What he explained about fading in and out happens in the new gameplay trailer.

The fact that you believe the 2019 character model is at the same level of detail as the new gameplay trailer makes me believe that you're not seeing things clearly at all.

If they compare it to the 2019 trailer then they're going to point out the clear difference you're not seeing.

I don't know how many times you think they will model the same persons face. I'm not talking about the clothing, that's always going to change before release, but its literally the same face 3d model with different textures. You can agree to disagree, but I'm sure we will find out eventually when more information is out.

Also back to a point i said earlier. Epic confirmed the first HB2 trailer was real-time. regardless of what DF says, epic already confirmed it.
