I will wait till the library is there. realistically I can only afford one at a time, either a good PC + Oculus or PS5 with PSVR2.
PC would be a no brainer for me if wasn't for amazing IP sony makes.

You don't have to buy everything at once you know.

I upgraded my PC at the start of 2020, PS5 late 2020, quest 2 2021. Will probably get a PSVR 2 this year as long as there is software worth having.

Just spread your purchases out and budget/save accordingly.

Any chance of Village coming for PSVR2? Maybe I’ll enjoy the game in VR. RE7 was almost too scary but Village being a Pirates of the Caribbean rollercoaster is kind of perfect for VR.

Well done on specs, Sony.

Edit: lol at people doubting software support for a PlayStation product. You people are ridiculous.

Except the one that matters...

You are already sold with no games. I can see there is no point in continuing this discussion, as you are already sold based on that

I agree wireless is great. I already said multiple times I would have preferred a wireless PSVR2.

Now I suspect Sony will make a lot of seated VR games, which is fine too. Wired may at least help getting better graphics and better headset comfort due to lighter weight. Both are very important too.

You're right we'll have to wait to see the content, but I'm a VR fan and I've got money, so I enjoy trying the best tech.

Every night these days, I try coop Quest 2 games with my friend in London who works at Meta, we're having a blast, feels like being younger again. VR is a huge part of the future of video games.

Some cheap earbuds it looks like. Some people had the nerve to argue it has better audio, than the off ear audio design in the index.

Pretty sure they will be better than psvr1, but that ain't saying much at all.

PSVR2 will be by far the best VR headset. No other has eye tracked foveated rendering or haptics... It also has Oled, HDR, great screen resolution... Along with Sony games, that will be hard to match.

And you choose the best audio headset you want, so of course you can have the best audio.

Beats using a cheap integrated solution by far.

It better be. Quest 2 will be 2 years old and Index will be 3.5 years old when PSVR2 will launch.

That didn't stop people here from comparing 2021 Quest 2 with 2016 PSVR1 for days...

Of course the newer headset usually wins, that's the way tech works.

But in a few years the VR battle will move to software more than hardware. Sony is in a good position on that part if they invest in VR games.

Gonna be good, as long as they nail the price and software. Ps5 should provide enough horsepower to offer a pretty damn good experience.

heres hoping for 249 gbp

That has been the major problem with all secondary platforms, except maybe Nintendo’s in the handheld space. So it’s not ridiculous at all to want to wait for the library to get better. The normal way to launch these things is to have a first party push at launch and then let other devs decide if it’ll live or die. And all AAA devs seems to wait for a bigger userbase, while the users will drop it if they don’t get AAA games. Kinda frustrating. Even now when Quest 2 has over 10 mil users we still get mostly smaller games.

249 GBP with that tech seems impossible... 349 GBP / 399 euros / 399 dollars with the controllers would be the absolute minimum and I'm not even sure they'll be able to do it.

A little disappointing to be honest. By the time it comes out there will probably already be a new Quest.

PSVR2 cable has been a BIG letdown, coming from Quest 2. But I'm still interested, hope the eye-tracking thing contribute to the experience.

Looking back, PSVR had its flaws, but it was a great entry point to the VR gaming. And it had the best first-party holder, tbh. The Q2 strap is a crime.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
Can motion sickness be reduced with a better resolution or is it all about refresh rate? From the few times i tried PSVR it was a mixed experience for me.

Yep, this thing is up there with the best.

It probably doesn't have literally everything won but competes with all the best ones and exceeds in some aspects.

If they nail the price under 600 for adults like me, this will be very enticing.

I wouldn't worry about software as Sony did a very good job supporting their unit with exclusives. Plus all the good stuff on PC which I would double dip on.

IGN left out the Vive Pro though.

Refresh rate and FOV.
So only the FOV has improved. Refresh rate is up to the developer i guess. Just because PSVR provided 120Hz doesn't mean every developer uses a 120Hz.

It's also has vibration on the helmet to deal with motion sickness
Efit: how that works? Don't know

That sounds insane when you can get a quest 2 for 299 and all the hardware is inside it.

i can see 299 but pushing for 349 without some crazy pack in amount of games seems crazy to me.

I don't know, the 50 gbp difference seems more than justified for eye tracking, haptics, oled vs lcd, higher resolution, higher fov, probably better comfort...

That's a smart move. I hope Sony will make it easy to use PSVR2 on PC. After all they sell their games on PC now, so why not?
They sell their games on steam, so why we can't install steam on our ps5 consoles?

I reckon Quest 2 is being sold at a price that's making some Meta accountants uncomfortable.

I reckon 399 for PSVR2. 450 would be far to close to a PS5, and 250 would likely be really pushing close to BOM + development costs (and 'devaluing' the product - something Nintendo manage very well). I don't think the insta/spontaneous purchases at 250 would make up for it.

350 might be doable (and less than a discless PS5), but I think that a) it would still be pushing profit margins and b) Sony will think they can get an extra 50 out of it.
