Obviously there were the rumours around Bend assisting with TLOU I remake but then it was moved to another studio, so it does look like there is some partnerships there, or at least an NDA spanning the same thing they are working on? Let us rumourise
Bend started the Uncharted remake right?
No, there aren't any rumors involving Bend in the TLOU remake. Bend isn't related to this remake at all.
The TLOU remake was a pitch of the new team at Sony San Diego that were a bunch of Sony Visual Arts Service Group (animations & CG support team that helps in this area most Sony -and even people from other companies- games) who did want to be the lead team on their own projects instead of being a support team. They started to develop the remake with ND overviewing them, providing material and small support.
After that Hermen Hulst was promoted to his current role, didn't like the remake and thought they were spending too much money on it, so asked them to reverse the roles: ND would take the lead of the project to complete it with normal budget using people free from TLOU2 work that were waititng to be assigned to an upcoming big ND project, and this Sony VASG team would go back to their support role for this game.
Regarding to the relationship between ND and Bend, ND and Bend have been helping each other in projects leaded by one or the other studio. When one of he studio had a production peak and needed help, the other team helps them if they have people free waiting to be assigned to the next big project from their own studio. Plus also codeveloped games.
According to Bloomberg -who often lies and spreads fud when talking about Sony- the most recent cases of this was that after the Days Gone release, until the next main Bend got greenlighted, people from Bend did help ND with the upcoming TLOU MP game, and later also was codeveloping an Uncharted spinoff with ND until Bend got greenlighted their next main proyect: the upcoming Bend new IP. Bend stopped working on that spin-off to focus on the new IP. Bloomberg didn't know if thte spin-off got cancelled or if Sony continues working on it elsewhere (maybe at ND?).
I think that in his tweet Eric was only teasing/joking about the TLOU MP game or the Uncharted spin-off, and that Cuckmann was also joking when saying the NDA stuff, he knew Eric wasn't going to leak anything. Or who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong and Neil wanted to torture and kill him for being a relevant white straight male who uses he/him as pronouns.
The third one is either a new IP or a next gen Uncharted.
Or maybe the PS5 version of TLOU2, or Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection.
ND really only puts out 1 game per generation. Even if they have several projects in development, they will take their time on 1 project. Aside from TLOU remakes, I would assume we'll see 1 original IP this generation. After that game releases, we'll be looking forward to next-next-gen.
Totally wrong.
PS3 games:
-Uncharted
-Unchared 2
-Uncharted 3
-Uncharted card game (don't remember is name)
-TLOU
PS Vita games:
-Uncharted Golden Abyss (developed by Bend with ND overviewing and supporting)
PS4 games:
-TLOU Remastered
-TLOU 2
-Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection (1+2+3 remastered, in collaboration with Bluepoint)
-Uncharted 4
-Uncharted Lost White Male Protagonist Legacy
-(pretty likely crossgen) TLOU2 MP game
PS5 games:
-Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection (4+LL remastered & PC port, in collaboration with Iron Galaxy)
-TLOU2 MP game
-TLOU remake, pretty likely bundled with TLOU2 remastered (in collaboration with Sony VASG/new San Diego Team)
-Uncharted spin-off that according to the Bloomberg liers were codeveloping with Bend, unless they cancelled it when Bend got their new IP greenlighted and left the spin-off to focus on the new IP instead
-Other possible upcoming or future projects as could be a new IP, TLOU 3 or Uncharted 5, or even a refurbished Nathan Drake Collection PS5+PC version
Like the other PS Studios teams they have been growing a lot and will continue growing (notice they have 68 open job positions for 3 projects), so will be able to work on more games at the same time than before. Plus now Sony bought studios who make remakes, pc ports and support studios, so they will be able to delegate a bigger part of these related tasks to them, and on top of that other teams like Bend that got help from ND in some projects will be also growing, so will need less help from ND. So ND will be able to focus more on their own games and to release more stuff.
Lost Legacy is not DLC. Its the same length as Uncharted Drake's Fortune and has way higher production values in literally every aspect.
And it introduced new design, new mechanics, and new characters to Uncharted.
I 100% agree.
