ELDEN RING |OT| One Ring To Rule Them All

Not a good comparison point, the very tweet this topic is about states that Xbox and PC are a lot more digital focused so it's not surprising to see less boxed retail numbers for them.

Again, these are just boxed retail copies in the UK. Not even the full breadth of sales in UK.
This is retail physical sales remember. PC is almost 100% digital.
The game had 900k ingame on Steam alone on launch day, which is probably way more than PS5 had.

I said going by his/her logic which is based off of the numbers posted which doesn't tell the full story.

I even pointed out that even though we see games with better launches on PS5 we still don't see the big success stories about PS5 only games.

Hint: the games are still selling well on the other consoles

The area they’re stuck in you can’t teleport out of. Have to book it out of there the old fashion way.
Did you get in that area via the chest in the dragon ruins area? Like in the basement with the rats?\
Then yeah you can't teleport out, teleport snare traps prevent teleporting until you rest at another grace site.
If that is the place though, there is a grace site extremely close nearby, walk out of the shack to the left and drop down, and just run for the tunnel and you're home free.

I've been using bleed, pretty much exclusively, and love it. Started with the
Uchi
, then eventually found the
Meteoric ore blade
and
Moonveil
so I dual them. Pretty nasty.

Weapons are generally all balanced, depending on your preferred playstyle. If you enjoy using it and it scales to your intended main stats then you're fine. There are regular weapons and special weapons, but they use different upgrade materials (smithing stones vs somber stones), so there's no point in holding out for something fancy. Use both. Basic weapons are viable for the entire game since they have a huge upgrade cap.

The main thing I’ve always felt FromSoft could be better at is explaining how important it is to make sure you’re using the right weapon for your stats. Scaling is such a vital aspect of having a good game. The main thing new players have an issue with is not having this put across to them well enough. Can really make or break someone’s experience.

So..something is bothering me alot and makes me not understand the review scores. I explored alot. Level 26. Still using the same weapons as i started.. how is this supposed to be super fun? And then i can sometimes find other weapons but never better then my upgraded base weapons...
Comparing a base weapon against an upgraded one is a lopsided thing. Play with what feels good and then upgrade from there.

What he said… most weapons are valid if you are with the right stats. This is something really good in these games. Almost anything can be used if you want to. But you have to be with the right stats.

Going to take an extended break now before my brain melts. Two great runes in hand, several regions cleared, most of the map uncovered.

I didn’t get a chance to finish Demon’s Souls PS5 on release so I went back and cleared the final boss a couple days before ER launch.

There have to be 50+ encounters in Elden Ring that are harder than that final boss. It’s so common to face insane situations in this game that it becomes routine. Impossible —> done. There’s a massive amount of get good training here. It is glorious.

Did a ton of exploring and leveling up today, also beat the first boss, Margit, with the help of my buddy.

The Margit Shackle item from Patches is super helpful. It restrains Margit, I think you can only use it twice in the battle though. Gotta wait for him to do his attack where his wooden sword is plunged into the ground.

The game is definitely difficult, but the abundance of Grace Points really helps to make the game more accessible. I mean shit, this is the first Souls game (I think) where you can actually level up without having to beat the first boss, that in itself makes the game so much easier than previous titles.

I still do not understand why Sony decides to release HFW before ER 1 week earlier.

Lets hope it did well in sales.

Seems like it was going to be low regardless.

Considering how many copies sold on the PlayStation 5, we can assume that it's going to go up and down whenever UK gets new stock available.

How do you access the ingame brightness slider after you first set it in the beginning? You would think it would be somewhere in the menus but I can't find it anywhere.

Has anyone heard when the Ray Tracing patch will drop?

I'm waiting to play until then, so I can experience this game at it's utmost detail - and hopefully the frame rate & loading issues will be fixed on the Xbox Series X👍🏻

Shiiiit, I think it's time to make a 4th character lol. Is Arcane needed as well as Dex for bleed?

My first souls..

Spent 3 hours fighting that guy at the beginning with the horse, and when I finally made progress, he starts using his shield....I can now confidently get to half his life...so maybe another 3 hours from now to figure out his second phase...

Damn lol

But I keep coming back for more, this can't be healthy lol

If you follow the grace's guidance from the start willy-nilly you end up at Stormveil castle CRAZY underleveled. Remember that the guidance just points the way, it holds zero consideration for your current level.
Thanks, I needed that info, time to go explore instead 👍

Should I explore more and come back to him? Don't wanna be burned out on the first guy

Maybe it's kind of obvious but I was just exploring the castle a bit more after killing the boss and there's a HUGE area that you can get to if you go to Liftside chamber, as soon as you come out turn right I believe and there's a body with an item and no wall there. You can fall down from there and there's just a massive amount more to explore.

Thought that was pretty cool.

I haven't attacked a chest yet, but something about one of them made me attack it first. Wasn't a mimic but the item inside was related to a Mimic. Pretty crazy since I've opened dozens of chest and never attacked them. There's gotta be a mimic somewhere.

i need to farm smithing stones , help me neogaf
They’re all over the place. There are statues that have to get hit by a large troll or another enemy. One of these is up on the hill when you first make your way to Warmasters Shack and the area is right off near the edge. I think that gives you 3 and then the 4th one is right around the area on a hanging body.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
Managed to clock 17 hours over the weekend and still take care of the family somehow. I'm exhausted but it was worth it. It isn't dark souls, but it's still really awesome!

Absolutely stellar game, well done FROM. Thank you Miyazaki.

Do bosses like Margit scale somehow when other players are present? I did beat him but you need to have luck not to make people die 5 seconds in. The attempt I finally killed him had a really good samurai player helping, he died at the end but I managed to finish the boss off.

thanks ......i feel i may have upgraded the wrong weapon and wasted some precious stones and now im desperate

Can someone please explain to me WTF the deal is with this enemy in Stormveil Castle?

He’s one big MFer. If you start from Rampart tower and go out the door with the eagles, then drop off the ledges and through the crumbling floor. He is big, red, and I seriously have no idea how he can be so fast and have so much stamina. Literally never stops attacking and seems like his poise can’t be broken at all. Also can’t be parried. I only have so much fireball usage and he is too fast with too much range, plus I can’t summon ashes.

Any tips would be helpful.

After missing the first chance to get the Spirit Calling Bell, I finally decided to buy one after 40 levels without it lol. I've obtained quite a few spirits to try out, and I've heard they are pretty good.

My luck, I start a samurai for a bleed build, and because the armor is awesome and then my first kill of one of the horse lord dudes I get his helmet and chest armor in one drop. They are too cool not to wear.

Damn, you guys weren't kidding the uchi's unsheathe attacks are great, especially the heavy and it's no big deal if you don't have any mana, they still work, they are just weaker.

The guy who said it before is right, Margit wouldn't be a top 20 From fight in terms of difficulty. Hell, there are multiple Evergaol fights in just the first couple areas that are harder. In a few weeks we'll all be talking about how easy he is once people start hitting the really hard ones.

I posted Sunhi's no hit, naked of Margit earlier, but here's another guy level 15 with +3 weapon:

And if you can't straight up fight him you got Shackle's, Jellyfish and he's one of the easiest bosses to parry.

Its the weapon then. I did less damage with my +1 greatsword at SL20.

He's not among the hardest FROM bosses to me (Ludwig, Laurence, Alonne, ISS, Flamelurker are all harder imo, considering melee builds). But he isn't easy either. He's just fline. I figured him out by fighting him a lot, never looked at any footage. And yeah, his aerials, dashing strikes and stab is the way to punish him.

Hey guys, anyone know why you randomly start glowing? Almost like a buff but it's gold.

Never mind, it means you're near grace, right?
