Interesting poll topic, and interesting responses. I generally assumed much of gaf would still be anti-PSVR, there's more support here than I would have guessed.
I was never on board with Sony's handheld devices (interested, but not enough to invest) but I don't deny there was coolness there. I remember being surprised that Vita was even announced, as it felt like PSP had been thoroughly trounced by the competition - but fair game, got to try with that sophomore effort, though again (from an outside observer) it felt like a further exploration into a solution that wasn't really warranted. Not a lot of real strong support, and it never felt like Sony was too invested in its success either. Not quite sent to die, but not awfully far from that either.
PSVR is a different story. I remember after the initial launch, a lot of people around here were saying it would go the way of Vita (all the stuff mentioned above) - once it stumbled, they'd let it rot. That wasn't quite what happened, but it's true we never saw a full strong support that would have guaranteed (?) more successful sales for HW and SW. I mean, there was a dearth of "AAA" level titles - were there even really.... ANY? Ok I am being harsh, but there were barely a handful of full-scale experiences. Blood and Truth, Farpoint, Astro, Drive Club, Firewall, Iron Man, Dreams.. a few others I suppose. But there was enough (decent) support to keep the thing going steadily. I mean, I am a big fan, for what it is.
Anyway I was genuinely surprised to see Sony's commitment to follow through with PSVR2 but thinking on it now, I feel like maybe THIS will be its Vita, potentially. They come back with a stronger hardware, but not sure if the software support will really follow, given how sales have traditionally been. I guess we will see. I mean, I will buy it. The good games they have, are REALLY good... but I am going to be very skeptical because of the history. Hopeful.
