And the winner...for the dumbest take of the year..is..!!

Congrats for being so ignorant.
If a studio feels they should release their product much later then originally planed, they will delay the release even if the product is ready. Happens in movies... happens in games. Happened with the the new Top Gun and James Bond movies. Happens with games...

Why should Sony release their game at the end of the year when at that time gets released big games like COD and FIFA?

That actually is a question?

Those holiday months are massive for the games industry.

how about this: PSN database date is NOT a placeholder, it comes out 31 December in the US therefore it is delayed to 2023 but only in eastern parts of Asia and New Zeland???

Not gonna overreact yet as it's not confirmed but if it is then oh boy...

A wait this long for what looks like God Of War 1.5 in terms of reusing assets, no major shift in graphical fidelity and it being a cross gen title.

Especially given the way Sony and SSM have handled communication this year.

It will be a shitshow given this was initially announced as a 2021 game and I'd be willing to bet it went through some development hell.

Man we never get good years anymore. It’s months of drought for a game like horizon fw which is massive a 7….
I am now positive than 2011 is never coming back. Gaming is so dying creatively because of these insane dev times. Straight Sequel should never take longer than 2 years…
Look. All they had to do was leave last gen behind. They are busy creating bullshit fake lighting probes in every single scene when Lumens or RTGI wouldve done it automatically in seconds. They are busy creating LODs for god knows how many millions of assets in the game when Nanite wouldve eliminated all that. Matrix was made in 8 months by just 80 people. SSM has 3x more employees working on a game for 4 years now. The 90 days UE5 trailer had artists create new enviornments from scratch in just 3 days. 3 artists created over 40 in 90 days.

This is what happens when you start a last gen game in 2018. 2 years before your next gen console's launch. That never shouldve been allowed. They shouldve been working on new engines, streamlining dev and tools to make development faster in 2018. Now they find themselves struggling to ship a game by 2023. Even if by some miracle they ship by September or December, it's almost 2023 and all they have done is make a last gen game, and now have to spend the next two years streaming engine and tools.

To be fair, it's not the delay that annoys me much, as i'll still have games to play. But the idea that PS5 will still get crossgen games in 2023 is so weird. Nobody would have though this in 2020 specially with the "We bELIeve In Generation"

According to Jim's investor slides, nobody knows.

They platform by year jumps from 2022 to 2025. 2022 showed PS4 games. 2025 showed zero PS4 games. 2023 and 2024 are unknown how many cross gen games there are.

So they just sitting on it? This is the most nonsensical shit I've read today. So many funny statements today lol.

OH the shock!
Didn't you know that companies can delay the release of their product, even if their product is ready? Yes, it's true.
Welcome to reality.

Disappointing but expected, definitely removes most of my incentive to get a PS5 this year, might just wait until Spiderman 2 at this point, and then just get Horizon/God of War at that point. On the other hand 2023 is impossibly stacked at this point

lol is there really someone who even thought it would release in 2022 before that rumor? I mean, it's already June and we got no date.
My backlog is big enoughe, I can wait.

The green rats are gonna eat well tonight.
Why?… 2023, the year of Starfield, will now have a juggernaught like Ragnarök sitting there competing for the glory, beside other big ones like RE4 Remake and BOTW2, plus whatever else we don’t know about yet.

Seems like the game was delayed internally but it's still 2022. So the database leak makes sense. It probably went from Q3 to Q4.

Watch Sony actually releasing this on November 11 lmao

Are these studios still working from home, lock-down style?

Dont blame work from home. Other software development firms have been just as if not more productive working from home.

This is about more than just covid. Everyone saw this coming after last gen the dev times ballooned but companies did not go on hiring sprees increasing the dev studios. SSM still has the same number of employees it did in the PS3 days.
