never really thought about it tbh.

hard not to go straight for vader and yoda. so to be more interesting... thrawn was good in the few books i read. poe dameron from the sequel trilogy really stuck out to me. wedge antilles is an og. mara jade was great too but only read about her in a few books. and i really liked rey, despite the hate she received (well, despite the hate the entire ST received).

hard to pick. i like them all so much for different reasons.
I've not read the books, Thrawn looks like a cool villain.

Poe, Finn and Rey are good characters but unfortunately not developed enough.

No, I'm here to posts what I see as sloppy writing, character assassinations or inconsistent continuity with established lore.
I'm a huge fan of Star Wars. I consumed and consumed.. I'm at a point now where it's just getting too much especially after the most recent Obi-Wan Kenobi episode. Fortunately I have "backup" universes I've been getting into like Warhammer 40,000.

Seems like Star Wars is just a dead franchise to me now under Disney.

If Disney announced a new show called “Star Wars: Man Takes A Shit” and it was six hours of a guy taking a shit but Disney had made it clear that it was officially canon and teased the possibility of Nien Nunb having a cameo in a post-credits scene would you watch every episode to see how it developed the lore
I realized this was not meant for me but did the man fart before he shit and it sprays everywhere but the guy is kind of retarded so Nien Nunb is called in to help wipe his ass and then the ceilings and floors?

After they all leave, their is a silent pan to a little puddle of poop Nien Nunb missed and we see a black parasite like thing from Prometheus emerge.

I'm going to let you all on a little secret people who are watching shows like this but keep in mind you must be 21 years of older in the United States to do this.

First thing is to go to your store.

Second, look for the alcohol aisle

Third, pick out your favorite alcohol but preferably something strong. A liquor or wine would do better than just plain old beer.

Get home and queue up Star Wars.

Enjoy.

I'm going to steal Space Balls idea and do a food based sci fi film series.

All your favourites including Pizza the Hut, Ham Solo, Lamb doe Casserole, Luke Piewalker, Darth Refridg-vader, Obi One more slice and Chewbacco 🍔

The eponymous shitter is massively obese. And there’s a chance that he may have eaten Nien Numb and could shit him out (Sullustan biology means they cannot be digested and so would be shat out whole).

just finished EP3. Why didn't vader just walk through the fire? Why is this show's production quality and overall camera and editing direction so bad? This show feels super cheap, yet Disney has tons of money to throw at it.

I love that not even 30 seconds before that we literally watched Vader use the force to extinguish the exact same fireball as he was dragging Obi-wan through it.

But now he's just paralyzed with indecision on how to navigate this 10ft by 5ft rectangle of fire in front of him with his squad of storm troopers as Obi slowly gets carried away.

Don't walk around it, it's not like you're standing in the open desert or anything. Don't walk through it. Don't use the force powers that you just demonstrated in the last frame. Don't attempt to pursue in any way. Don't do any of that. Its only your ultimate nemesis right in front of you and the confrontation we've all been waiting years for.

I'm not saying this is in any way related to the discussion here......or am I???

Probably just Disney slowly culling 20th Cent Fox folks but the "Sources told The New York Times that Rice was "an ill fit with Disney's corporate culture." Variety reported that Rice's firing was "entirely business and strategy-related" and had nothing to do with any personal behavior by Rice. Variety's sources said that Rice was completely blindsided by the decision. " part does suggest that there is a potentially ideologically driven purging going on, though I can't say which way it's headed. I'm sure there will be more knowledgeable folks weighing in about that projects this Rice guy pushed for/against versus his replacement as to what direction Disney might go. Maybe Rice was a stalwart champion of "The Suite Life of Cody Banks" and that COULD NOT STAND! Fill this filter down to LucasArts, I gotta think it will have some effect, there must be distant projects that just got killed or ressurected by this move.

Guy didn't have anything to do with Disney+, so it's not related. He was a Fox guy and more involved with the news side of things and the FX/Hulu streaming (like Pam & Tommy).

The excuse I got from some people here is that Vader is toying with his "prey" and he's confident he will meet Obi-Wan again in the near future so he let him escape knowing the storm troopers wouldn't catch him.

That was the first thing I said when I saw it, "He wanted him to get away". But I felt dirty saying it cause I knew I was lying to myself. It just sucked and I didn't want it to suck.

lmao, yes! I was just like "why is he bothering to turn it off...? JUST WALK AROUND IT!".

I can't tell if its the writers or directors that are incompetent here.
Only conclusion I can come to is that the entire scene was filmed with just a few people and 100% green screen. They had NO IDEA what the set was gonna actually look like other than some set sketch so when it came time to CGI the "guard post" that team didn't know what was actually supposed to happen so they didn't account for it. Probably thought Ben was supposed to bring the truck.

By the time they had this mess in the editing room they had no time to fix it and knew enough viewers would just shrug "cause it's only D+".

The whole thing smacks of modular designs where the seams are glaringly obvious because the director isn't in charge . Pure ",filmmaking by committee"

How does saying you got classified information clear you for entry? The guy should've cleared it with his superiors. 👀
Yeah, that whole interaction was so utterly stupid I just kept thinking "it's got to be a trap, they're all in on it, the Empire can't be THAT dumb, right"?

i actually have to agree with this.

even though there are plenty of scenes that feel right and feel professional, the times when its bad, its really bad, and that is pretty unacceptable considering, well, fucking disney. episode 4 felt better in this regard, but still had those moments of weird editing, poor line delivery and just straight up bizarre movements/choreography, like not even close to believable at times. very strange and glaring. i dont know how some of these scenes made it off the cutting room floor.

I never woulda thought Uncle Owen of all characters would be the most charismatic in the whole show but here we are. Hes the only one with clear motivations and good acting lol

The kid actor does a fine job with the material she has. If they really are gonna do another season of this shit they should bring her back and we can see her grow like Anakin.

Doesn't sound like it improves much as it goes on. I watched the first two. I'm not sure if I'll bother with the rest unless it really nails the landing.

I would guess it was a troubled production and they got to the point where they just had to get it out the door. There’s so many little inconsistencies that they couldn’t fix without that leading to greater narrative changes, rewrites, reshoots, etc. Maybe they already did a couple rounds of that without a coherent vision, it just lead to further narrative problems, and that’s why it ended up the mess that it is.

I had to tap out when they had more than one sequence of a 10 year old girl who looks like a 6 year old girl outrunning adults with her tiny baby legs. She can’t even do a full sprint and they’re trying to put her center screen in a chase sequence? This is the stuff I’m talking about, how do you even fix that without gutting the dumbass story that’s already there and totally rewriting it?

Don't worry, you just have to wait for the novelization/game/sourcebook that will come out a few months later that will explain why the weird fire somehow zapped Vader's powers. Or something. Just like how they explained every other WTF thing in Disney Star Wars.

You see it's not the job of the show writers to worry about stuff like "canon", or explaining everything to you. That comes later.

I'd agree that they should have explained how Obi-wan was able to be rescued so easily. Would have liked an explanation in episode 4 which we didn't get. But it does not meaningfully detract from the overall show IMO. And focusing on such minutia for weeks would be like leaving a super model's hotel room because she has a mole on her shoulder IMO.

As an aside, perhaps Vader was hit with a wave of emotion that slowed him down just a second? Anakin is still buried deep down.

At this point for those of us that don`t like this show, I think it`s just best to move on.
Probably I mean I’m enjoying the show immensely but I’m also a person who thinks the only bad film in the entire franchise is TROS and the only abjectly bad episode of D+ is episode 3 of Book of Boba Fett. I’m easy to please and I don’t have the baggage of wishing for Old EU novels or comics runs to be referenced or the type of person who gives two flying shits about YouTuber hot takes. I grew up in the 90’s without social media and basically just people bitching about Star Wars special editions and Phantom Menace so I have my own personal connection to Star Wars that isn’t clouded by the internet hive mind. I am at the point where I’d almost rather not visit Star Wars threads or Reddit subs because I like it all and there’s always someone who is going to nitpick every damn detail as if they had a film degree from USC.

As I said above love the show but one thing that’s bugging me and I hope they resolve is Bail Organa. Like how has Bail Organa NOT been arrested for treason and Alderaan not been blockaded until Obi Wan returns with Leia at this point? Why visit the Jedi Underground Railroad again with Lola and not just hyperspace Leia back to Alderaan stat?? Would be somewhat awesome if Bail heel turns like Lando to save Leia by making a deal with Vader and we get a scene like ESB of Obi Wan returning to Alderaan getting told that Bail has just made a deal to keep the empire off Alderaan permanently on Obi’s way to dinner only to find Vader in the palace dining room with IDK fucking Boba Fett waiting for him.

Obi is my favorite character from the prequels and I would have loved a proper show about him, but with this show would have been better to focus on Owen or his wife. The budget and writing just isn't there for a full on Obi series that's remotely good. Maybe we would have seen glimpses of "old Ben" watching them or something, but keep it much more simple.
