You obviously aren't an Xbox fan then hahaha.Hay no.
Seeing those 3 consoles reminds me of the worst video game Generation that I've ever experienced, that I want to forget it.
I like the current one better.
In fact I like any platform. You obviously aren't an Xbox fan then hahaha.
I'm in and out of a Sands of Time playthrough on mine. Still a great machine despite how painful it is to find and redownload digital purchases.I am playing my PS triple right now ^^
For me it’s the load times. I have been tempted to pop in an SSD to see if it would do anything special. I’ve seen some contradicting info online about what it would do.I'm in and out of a Sands of Time playthrough on mine. It won't make as much of a difference as you might hope. I put a Crucial MX500 in my PS3 when the hard drive crashed and the main difference I see is in installs and big data transfers. In general I only see marginal improvements in load times, but I swear textures load faster. At the end of the day the PS3's HDD interface is still SATA 1 so bandwidth is constrained. The improvements are probably more related to faster seek times for the disk than actual data throughput. For me it’s the load times. Funny, I thought it was you Captain Toad
I enjoyed that generation as well. But it is also the generation that gave rise to MTX and GAAS crap on consoles as developers were trying to figure out how to keep monetizing games after the initial sale. GAAS money printer GTA Online was born there and there were plenty of MMO and free to play games during that generation as well. It also had online only games like MAG sold at regular price where people completely lost the ability to play the game and any purchased DLC when servers went offline.I should get my PS3 at some point next week (my mom is moving and sent me some boxes with old shit I still had at her house). I'm actually looking forward to hooking it up and reliving some old memories, play some Killzone or Infamous 2 and other games which aren't available on modern platforms.
Have to disagree with others in this thread, I really enjoyed that gen. It introduces a ton of cool new franchises and the whole GAAS crap didn't dominate gaming as much back then.
Sony actually REMOVED PS3 games when they switched from PSNOW to PSPLUS. I'm disappointed in that regard.I still play Wii games on the WiiU, 360 games on the Series X, and have my PS3 hooked up. There are just so many awesome games from that generation! The PS3 is how I still play the Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, and inFamous games. I was hoping for at least some remasters, but the PSN cloud came out and it just doesn’t do it for me.
^Bad if you were a Nintendo fan maybe.
Wait, what. Which games did they remove?Sony actually REMOVED PS3 games when they switched from PSNOW to PSPLUS. I'm disappointed in that regard.

wii is how. It's my least favorite Nintendo console next to the virtual boy.How so? I'm a nintendo fan. Enjoyed the wii, ds, ps3, 360 and psp
Was a great time for gaming from what I recall
This youtuber....
Tough video to watch. That's what the high school nerds look like when they grow up.

Wait…seriously?!? I thought the whole point of the new service was to stream PS3 games to the newer consoles. Either way, I’m glad I bought a new PS3 when all those Covid checks went out.Sony actually REMOVED PS3 games when they switched from PSNOW to PSPLUS. I'm disappointed in that regard.
it's actually cool, if you play Gamecube games and use homebrew.wii is how. It's my least favorite Nintendo console next to the virtual boy.
Do you have 2FA on for your PSN account? If so, you will need to go onto PlayStation’s website and create a specific PS3 key to log in. Once you do that, save it, so you don’t need to put it in each time.I've plugged my 360e back in so I can play Afterburner Climax and Outrun Online again, the only problem I found was actually finding what you owned through the download list, which was a pain.
PS3 I couldn't use my PSN password for some strange reason, even though I know it's correct as I use it on my PS4 Pro and PS5.
Wii played games still but everything online seem to be switched off now.

I'm having a crazy time with a PS3 Slim.Currently going through MGS3 and ordered a PS3 on eBay a few days ago so I could play Guns of the Patriots, and catch up on other games I missed at the time. I’m excited.
Jesus what a shitshow.I'm having a crazy time with a PS3 Slim.
CMOS died, so it's a CR2032 battery and I go in to replace it... I take apart the whole damn console as the ifixit guide says, which is kinda insane to get to a battery. disassemble the bluray drive and all... I get to the part where the battery is and...
In this specific model (not the first slim revisions, I didn't find pictures of that board revision online) instead of having a cutout for the battery, I have to take the metal plates apart as well, replace thermal paste and all, just to change a fucking battery that every 7-10 years has to be replaced anyway. I was beyond pissed, and to this day it's sitting on my sofa. It pisses me off just looking at it. (I have thermal paste I just didn't feel like doing that after spending an hour taking it apart already. Shit design.
Without the CMOS battery the console doesn't boot properly so it's a brick.
I'll try that, thanksDo you have 2FA on for your PSN account? If so, you will need to go onto PlayStation’s website and create a specific PS3 key to log in. Once you do that, save it, so you don’t need to put it in each time.

My ps3 is 14 years old and boots just fine, is the OG model different?just to change a fucking battery that every 7-10 years has to be replaced anyway.
I have no idea, but they all have the CMOS limitation in place. My ps3 is 14 years old and boots just fine, is the OG model different?
They're very similar I think.Jesus what a shitshow.
I debated getting the slim because I love the design, but figured those models would be too old and more susceptible to issues. Decided to get a super slim for a decent price that looks almost new and hoping for the best.
Ya they removed A LOT of the classic fun games. MGS4, some of the god of wars, etc.Wait…seriously?!? I thought the whole point of the new service was to stream PS3 games to the newer consoles. Either way, I’m glad I bought a new PS3 when all those Covid checks went out.

I look back fondly on the generation as a whole, but it had its fair share of GAAS.
