I mean, I liked the first Spiderman enough to look forward to the second game but yeah, that's it.

Naughty Dog went from top tier with the first Uncharted to complete garbage after Uncharted 4 and especially TLOU 2, Horizon 1 was great and 2 was good, but the third game is years away, and I'm good if its *just* more Horizon, and while I like things like Ratchet and Clank, they don't set my ass on fire.

I care for VERY little multiplayer games, and while GAAS games can be good, they don't have a good track record. Don't care about Destiny, don't care about GT, don't care about infamous, and while I haven't tried Ghost of Tsushima, it just looks like a (much better) Ubisoft game, so not exciting.

So yeah, its hard to be excited about Sony right now, especially since after TLOU 1 Remake and GOW 5 releases, the only titles being developed we know of are what, Wolverine and Spiderman 2?

Sony really needed an E3 presentation, or any kind of presentation, because things are not looking great right now.
I think Sony could be in some trouble in 2023/24. Another thing they had going in spades during ps4 was Japanese exclusives from third parties. Nioh/nioh 2, gravity rush 2, last guardian, persona 5, bloodborne, dragon quest 11, ff7 renake, etc. They've seemingly killed off this side of their business under Jim Ryan. I'm not happy with Sony's business side this gen and I'm worried about the future of Sony exclusives. As a ps5 owner I feel they've been treating us like shit getting nickel and dimed constantly.

They've got ff16 for next year so that's cool, I'm sure they have some stuff lined up for 2023...isn't spider man 2 out next year.

I imagine they'll have some surprises, hopefully it's not xmas 2023 until we get a proper Sony game outside of vr stuff.

We haven't seen what all the studios are cooking up.

Hope Wolverine delivers the violence.
Spider Man 2 It's going to be cool.

Instead of those games we get Crisis Core, Wo Long, Forspoken, Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran blue fantasy, etc.

I really don’t see any change in that aspect
Wo Long is not an exclusive, and it's coming to Gamepass day one...making that seemingly the way to go as far as playing the game.

I don't think many people consider Forspoken to be a Japanese Square game when it's one of its main selling points is that it has western writers on it. And tbh...it looks like shit.

The rest yeah is looking solid af.

Guerrilla Games is doing a multiplayer game but it's not a new IP? Killzone?

Also whats the difference between a New IP and an Original IP? (bluepoint) is it just a remake ala demon souls?
Original IP gives me the impression it's probably a game with gameplay mechanics never done before.

I mean, Dragon Quest XI was listed so I didn’t really know that we were only talking about exclusives. Shit it came out on nintendo consoles first

Yeah...
There's like nothing at all about Forspoken that says '' Japanese '' to me, unless people think that the Isekai trope is but I disagree with that.
It's essentially just time travel stuff, been plenty of movies about that it used to be a pretty popular trope for a while and we got a ton of movies like that one after the other.
Pretty common in books too.

Forspoken looks like it was made by a marketing team in NA who based everything on Twitter '' research ''.

It came out on the 3DS in 2017
The 3DS had it's own exclusive version of the game.

The PS4 version ran on Unreal and was a completely different game.

Regardless the two versions both came out at the same time in 2017 and PS4 version was a timed exclusive before the Switch got the extra features version of the port.

lets just wait and see what happens in september first, where sony will have their E3 replacement showcase.

Has this been confirmed, or is it just speculation based on years prior?

I don’t think there will be any showcase other than PSVR2-focused since it’s most likely releasing Q12023.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
they have alot yet to announce, thats why people are hungry for the next Playstation Showcase/

I’m personally very excited for both Spider-Man 2 and wolverine. But it is extremely odd they haven’t really announced any new 1st player games in the last few years.

I feel like a HUGE part of their business is going to disappoint long time PS fans. Seems like majority of studios are now working on GaaS.

What time is it?
The next things I'm interested in are Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. I know it's a shitty complaint, but my interest in Spider-Man 2 is going to dwindle if it is New York again.

Nothing for 2023 and watch Spiderman 2 get delayed to 2024 as well.

We might see BP's next remake, maybe MGS, but other than that, Factions isnt even being shown yet so doubt its a 2023 release. GG, PD and SSM have just shipped a game, they clearly arent ready for a 2023 game. Bend just spent three years on 3 different games and ended up revealing a fucking studio logo at E3. They are clearly fucked. Unfair to expect anything from Housemarquee after shipping Returnal last year.

And thats pretty much it. What will be interesting is what they reveal in their september conference if they deem us worthy. TLOU3 teaser? GG's new mp game? Factions? Cory's new IP thats been in dev since 2018? 4.5 years and still nothing to show? It took him 4.5 years to release GOW after rebooting it from scratch, but he did have the entire studio at his disposal. This time around Sony's genius idea was to split the studio and everything is taking forever.

It was hilarious to see them boast about 25 NEW first party games in development, and have just two games on the roadmap after gow. A 2021 game. I want them to have show some kind of urgency and reveal the future of PS5 with next gen visuals, simulations, destruction at their September showcase, but if Jim is arrogant enough to raise prices, i highly doubt hes feeling the heat enough to show us what these studios have cooking.

Herman seems to have mucked up THE best first party batch of first party studios he had inherited from Shu who had overseen 5 overall GOTY wins in the last 8 years. He had the GG, PD and SSM work on cross gen games until 2022. He hated the TLOU remake at a support studio so instead of cancelling it, he wasted 2 years of ND's precious time on it. Time that couldve been spent on prepping a next gen TLOU3 for a 2023-2024 or a lost legacy style Joel expansion. He wouldnt greenlight Days Gone 2 then had them waste a year on a Uncharted spinoff and then cancelled that. He went on spending sprees acquiring new studios instead of giving these studios more bodies and increasing the size so they could work on two games simultaneously. Even if they show TLOU3, GG, Bend's and SSM's new IPs, when do we get them? In 2025-2027? Studios shouldve doubled in sizes back in 2019 when he took over.

On the contrary, this is the most exciting time for me. There are more unknown games than known right now.

Sky is the limit, and the next showcase should have alot of new announcements. Love this time of the gen.

Im assuming we will have the showcase before TGS where they will show mostly PS5 exlusive(None VR) Titles and when TGS comes around the next week we will see the PSVR2 in action with games; They are letting people demo the PSVR2 there with upcoming VR games, so Im guessing they will show all their PSVR2 Launch games there and then.

Wolverine could be a good game. I hope It's not another Batman clone and delivers blood + guts + dismemberments and not just white strips or sparks when hitting an enmey. Would like it to be like Ninja Gaiden.

So after God Of War Ragnarok, what's next from playstation studios? Cause right now personally speaking i'm not really that excited about anything from Sony right now "excepct of course GOWR the future GOAT".

Is that gonna be just 2 Marvel games and bunch of GaaS? Cause if that's so bruh that's a big downgrade from PS4 and PS3 era. Even Naughty doesnt excited me anymore. A remake of game that already looks and play great, and a multiplayer games. What about Insomniacs? are they gonna be locked behind Marvel Ips only? And Hermen and Jim the geniuses closed one of their most talented and innovative game studios aka Japan studios?

Am i the only Playstation fan that is not excited and worry about Sony studios future? Or am i just dramatizing? (i mean i hope i'm wrong, but facts speak for itslef)

Anyway discuss, would like to hear opinions of others on this.
I think the last real exclusive PS5 game will be the game from Bluepoint. After that I expect the usual multiplatform kind of games output from Sony devs.

I’m not worried, I’m very excited to see some actual non-crossgen games from Sony that make use of the Ps5 to the max.

PS Studios have OVER 25 games (some estimat between 30 and 40 counting PSVR games) under development, around half of them being new IPs and under 10 of them being GaaS like Gran Turismo 7 or MLB. According to Hermen they will continue making single player and multiplayer games, big and small games, some of them safer blockbuster games and some of them more unique, creative and experimental.

They will do more multiplayer games than before, but also more single player games than before. They will do more new IP than before, but also more sequels than before. They will do more PC ports of old games than before, but also more PS only games than before.

Bungie continues with Destiny 2 and is working on at least 2 new IPs and we should see at least one of them before 2025.

All internal studios at Bungie and PS Studios are heavily increasing their headcount to work in more games at the same time, similar to what Insomniac, Guerrilla or Firesprite already do. Which means that in the future we'll see games from them being released more frequently.

Insomniac did several VR things so I assume they will do something for VR even if they fall more in the category of 'experiences' more than in games. As I remember Rift Apart had the best launch in the series in sales and got great reviews, so I think it would be stupid to think they'll stop making Ratchet games when the series is better than ever. In addition to this, they created their most recent IP while ago, so I think they'll release a new IP in the 2nd half of this gen or the start of the next one.

I think Naughty Dog will have 3 production tracks that will work at full steam in TLOU, Uncharted 5 and a new IP plus a smaller team overviewing adaptations of their IP being made outside (like PC ports, movies and tv series). I think that after the TLOU MP we'll see an Uncharted game, a new IP and after them TLOU3.

I think people understimates that there is a lot of top former Bungie, CoD and Ubisoft talent in Deviation, Firewalk and Haven who can deliver top AAA new IP. And same with Firesprite where they have a lot of top former Liverpool Studio, Evolution and Bizarre Creations talent. Or that people like Pixel Opus, Team Asobi and Arrowhead have been growing and are working on projects that are bigger than the ones we previously saw from them, similar to what Housemarque did with Returnal (btw Housemarque is also working on a game bigger than Returnal).

There's also Media Molecule who in addition to support Dreams (it's another GaaS btw) they must be working in something else, plus new IPs in the works from people like Santa Monica, Bend, London, or secret projects from Bluepoint (not a remaster/remake), San Diego (not a sports game), Sucker Punch (pretty likely GoT sequel), Guerrilla or Firesprite.

I think they have a lot of stuff to be excited about, but that are saving the hype bullets for later once they have back consoles in the store shelves not being sold out in minutes or even a few days. I think in the 2nd half of this year they will start to solve the supply constraint issues and early next year, once it's solved and more or less they match offer and demand, then they'll make a PlayStation Showcase in H1 2023 announcing exclusive games to be released until H1 2025 that will make us crap in our pants.

Hm... I'm not too sure these days. Sony is investing heavily in multiplayer/GAAS and VR games. It's great that Sony studios are expanding, but I fear I won't be seeing more AAA single player games from them but actually less.
This is not true. They are increasing their studios and buying more studios to make more games than before. They said they'll invest more in GaaS than before, but also in more in traditional non-GaaS SP games than before.

It honestly doesn't feel like GoW is coming out in 2.5 months. The gameplay trailer is a year old, there's no marketing going on, and we don't know a whole lot about what they're doing with the game, what new gameplay additions, etc. Here's hoping that changes soon. Never seen such lack of marketing for a huge game so close to release.

Based on this, Sony have plenty of games in development.
Only thing is having to wait as development cycles are getting very long. Something like 4-6 year development time.
I'm glad they aren't showing stuff years away with CGI trailers. That stuff seriously pisses me off.
Hopefully the September showcase will show games releasing in 2023. They have plenty in development. Relax guys. I don't like being hyped about a game 3 years away lol.

Don't worry, i'll guarantee you that Sony's big time marketing machinery will start the engines very soon.

Its basically GoW 1.5, so I don’t think you need a lot of extra marketing to know what the game will look like.

The next showcase (next month?) will be really interesting with so many games under wraps.
It's a bit like 2020 when people didn't know which games were coming for launch and 2021.
Definetly looking forward to see more footage of God of War as well.

I’ve always preferred Sony’s consoles over others by a LONG shot, but I’ve never cared about their first party games.

I tried getting into GoW for like the 4th time the other day and I will never understand the love people have for this game.

-very dull UI with tiny ass text
-tons and tons and tons of collectibles everywhere. So basically half assed open world elements
-half assed RPG elements
-horrible camera that is way too close to Kratos and makes battles very unpleasant for me
-clunky battles with controls that I don’t really jive with. Tossing the axe, calling it back, while dodging and turning Kratos’ constipated, hemorrhoid-filled ass does not feel good.
-Kratos moves like he has both internal and external hemorrhoids along with a bout of swamp ass
-extremely “game-y” level design with the glowing ropes and puzzle points and whatnot. Extremely off-putting especially when paired with its “immersive” camera
-tons of annoying loading masks due to the “immersive” camera
-Repetitive puzzles
-spongey enemies
-Kratos has the charisma of road kill. As does Atreus

I don’t understand.

Looking forward to Bend's new game. First try at AAA with Days Gone was decent and quite close to ND with its cast ( ok maybe not really but Deacon x Sarah was more compelling than Drake x Elena ).

I couldn't care less for anything other than Factions 2 and other multiplayer titles. Maybe housemarque and bluepoint too. But until I know what those are, only factions 2 really.

If you're talking about the new one, he moves exactly how the actor playing him moves. It's so accurate I could tell it was him just from his run. I'm a huge Stargate SG-1 fan, and recognized his body movements instantly. In your defense, he kind of has a very distinctive posture when running. His body is really upright with the upper body fixed and not moving. That's just how that guy runs.
