Buy one so you can tell you us all in every PC thread how you own a 4080 but never use it and prefer your consoles. It will be more meaningful if you have the brand new card.
That's exactly why I would get it lol.

Anyway. Euro prices... holy shit

I just like nice graphics! I would sell my 3080 only if I knew I can get 4080 FE after that. These cards look great

Nvidia saw what people were paying scalpers. They saw their own employees scalping them. I knew we were gonna get fucked. But really with crypto mining seemingly dead I wonder how this will go for them.

I hope it releases like a wet fart and they just sit on shelves until Nvidia lowers the cost to what they’re actually worth (meaning shave $400 off the price of the 4080 and shit.)

Any idea if Nvidia ever again plans to sell FE cards in their Poland store?
my 3080 was the last time they were selling fe cards here :(

Maybe once they sell out all the existing 30** chips, they may soft-relaunch at lower price perhaps?
But what I don't get is 12gb 4080. Naming is misleading. It's not 4080 chip in there - it's missing ton of CUDA cores - so it really should be 4070.

The power usage though... urgh. It's going to heat up my small computer room pretty well. :(

this is crazy they made a software feature exclusive. F them...
Faster cards receive dlss3 to make games even faster.
Aging cards do not get anything to let them keep up. f
I got the impression that they are using hardware for the extra DLSS3 steps but so hard to tell with their marketing.
Probably could have a slower path in software/using other older HW components if that was the case, but... 🤷‍♂️ Nvidia.

Not this time NVidia. Cyberpunk runs just fine on my 3080. Until there's games that require more power, I can wait.

Same goes for AMD. No point to upgrade unless you're running 20 series right now.

Still pretty happy with the RTX 3080 I finally managed to get at the launch MSRP ~720€ seeing these prices. I ordered it around launch and it took like 18 months to deliver. Looks like there won't be much perf improvement/price.

I’ll happily stay on my 2080 Super until it dies if these are the prices we can expect from these companies from now on.

I got a 3080 Ti so I'll just wait and see what the real life performance looks like on the 4000 series and the upcoming 7000 series and make my decision then. Hopefully by then prices have calmed down a bit hahah

not the best example. cp2077 runs like trash even on 3080.... unless you play 1080p with dlss ?

God damn! Those price are ridiculous. So the 4080 is the new 4070. Also DLSS 3.0 exclusive to the 4000 series LOL. The 4060 will cost at least $400 to 500 with this prices.

They charging for the 4070 what I paid for the 2080 Super forever ago lol

Serious question for the experts here, there is any chance of not finding gpus or having overpricing like the 3000 series if i don't buy at launch?

I really want a 4000 series but since the price is way higher than i was expecting, i'm gonna try to at least search good occassions for the other pieces and this could be a bit time consuming compared to buying everything now with whatever price i found.

So, any chance of losing an opportunity or it should be ok?

Lmao those prices. Nvidia just wants to maintain the status quo of the last couple of years except with them reaping all the surplus I guess

Unless the 4070 is extremely competitive I'm not buying a new card. I could upgrade to a used 3080 or above when the prices come back down. That'll do.

They don't sell them in the US either. I got one of the only batch of 3090 FEs they sold. They just have a check availability link that shows Best Buy which is the only "online" retailer that sells FE cards. I am sure it is going to be a shit show trying to get a fucking 4090 FE from Best Buy. They were doing lotteries by store so basically you had dozens of people trying to get 1 card instead of hundreds or 1000s trying to get one of 100 or so cards. At least when they were selling at NVidia's store you were all competing for one of the many cards released in a batch, not some random slice of cards allocated to 1 of 400 stores.

Should just be the usual early shortages for a bit like normal.

define for a bit.

And when the shortage end, do we get overpriced stuff?

Shit i know you can't answer because stuff can change, but i'm still gonna trust experienced people in here, i have shit memory for these things.

Ah it seems Nividia forgot the mining boom is over, looking forward to prices at the 700-800 level for the 4080 once they realise no ones buying.

I just noticed this price is for FE. Means if you want a good cooling card like the strix . You are ending up paying 1900$ US ….. yeah I don’t know what to say or do really. I mean I can probably sell the 3090 to offset some difference but still too much man .
