Ninja Theory uses techniques to replicate “Anamorphic cinema” in their quest to make Hellblade II an immersive cinematic experience

that's all nice and dandy... but let's hope this will be their first game with good gameplay that isn't co-developed by some Capcom devs to hold their hands :)
I really liked Enslaved by Ninja Theory.

Sadly I didn't like hellblade or heavenly sword at all.

The more I see and hear about this game, the more it seems that it'll be leaning into "interactive movie" territory. Temper your expectations, people.

I don’t know what that means but if flapping a notebook in front of a checkerboard is going to help them make a better game then I’m all for it!

I just can't understand why people are expecting a complete overhaul of the gameplay, I mean, we saw a demo last year that played pretty much exactly like Hellblade 1, so I think we can assume that It will probably play like the first game with some new mechanics. I loved the first one so I have no issues with this playing like that, I just hope that they don't go full cinematic and make us play with the black bars.

Ugh... Chromatic aberration and spherical aberration, basically everything I'm trying to get rid of in my glasses (myopia). Why do devs add this in games on purpose... We have a perfect image quality by nature in 3D, yet they ruin it by adding effects that other industries have been trying to get rid of. It will never make any sense to me.
It's because they can. Modern technology allows them to not have any constraints or moderation. What's this, visual effects boxes? Check them all, we have memory! And not only that, turn all that shit to 11. Because subtlety is not a feature.

I found myself uninstalling games just for that. Games with great graphics ruined by such filters that you can't turn off. Like the aggressive auto-exposure and burning bloom/shine in many modern games like Forza Horizon 5, which i uninstalled the first day i tried it.

Nothing screams "Oh boy, how I wish I was making a movie instead" like taking a pristine rendered digital image, containing intricate details and clarity that is simply impossible to capture using physical processes, and then slathering it in post-processing techniques designed to make the image look like an entirely different medium.
It's double stupid because some of the examples depicted are shot on film stock. You literally can't replicate that look in a video game cutscene. Film is an analog format with a completely different language than digital. To me this sounds like amateurs aping masters without actually understanding their craft.

Ok, all good but how about a actually decent playing game this time, Hellblade was one of the most overhyped games I've played to be honest, I found it very mediocre and relied far too heavily on the voices in Senuas head

Having limitations in terms of budget, hardware power, project deadline is a good thing as it forces the developers to make crucial decisions and finalize the scope of the game.

I was happy that Ninja Theory was picked up by Xbox. But they gotta impose some project milestone deadlines.

YES we need that for that CINEMATIC FEEL. Also 24fps!
I literally thought the same. If they’re going for that look, they really need to stick to 24 fps. Otherwise, why bother with all these fake processing effects to mimic the analogue cinematic experience. Go big or stay home.

Ok, Ninja, graphics are great, that was clear from the first reveal, now show me how you will improve the gameplay, because that was the weakest point of the first game.

I wish these people would piss off and go join the film industry, these effects look like ass in a video game.

I want clarity in my games, not forced field of view.
Tell me you don't understand the film and video game industry are virtually the same without telling me you don't understand the film and video game industry are virtually the same....smh.

I recall that the order 1886 also put a lot of efforts in reproduction a cinema like lense.

Let's just leave it at that, because Ninja theory usually does better gameplay than what the order 1886 had. I don't think this is a good sign.

I've been hearing a lot about the photos they've taken, the dialect they're using, the graphics and techniques but nothing about how it plays. The original Hellblade is criminally boring and I hope this won't be the case with the sequel.
There intron to the game was pretty good, I replayed it so many times in the hope that the game would go me.... Nope, got bored each and every time after about 30 minutes.

Looks nice, I probably won't play it as I won't get an xsx just for that but I like it, guess that I am a cinema addict helps.

But will it be fun to play? Cause Hellblade 1 certainly wasn’t for me. The story was pretty cool though.

Very cool. The game already looks fantastic. These subtle touches will take the visuals to the next level. Can’t wait to see more.

Yeah, that's great and all, but this game was showcased before the console released. Release it already. It's like the entire Microsoft first party studios are quiet quitting.

What's the point of nice textures when they are caking the screen with all this simulated camera imperfection stuff? I just want to see what my eyes see not what the camera sees. I don't want to constantly be reminded I'm not watching a movie.
