Granted, I have a 4090 but why does it matter if you can afford it.
You don`t seem to understand the most basic market principles of supply and demand....

It doesn`t matter how or if someone can afford it, just that he`s stupid enough to actually do it.
As long as enough idiots are willing to overpay the price hike continues, simple as that.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
So is it worth upgrading a 3080ti considering would have to buy a new case…. Looks like a nope. Maybe amd…

Let them. Granted AMD could help by continuing to be competitiv but at this tier, do whatever you want. The higher end is what it is but people will be smart and make the right choice for what fits you.

The problem is there's no competition at the high end, if you want bleeding edge you have to go Nvidia. This isn't an objective scenario like cars, food, etc .The 4090 is the best gaming GPU available right now, full stop.

Good joke.
People go into debt over TVs and smartphones nowadays........
Create enough desirability/buzz/hype and the hordes of idiots will literally tie a noose around their own necks to "belong".

Let them. No harm no foul.

These prices are not the best for the industry, especially at the 4080 mid-range. The performance is solid but that's it.

The 4090, that fits given the performance gain.

This is an unjustifiable bump up in price for the 80 series. This, for a card that technically isn't even in the same tier as the 3080. Just ridiculous.

Nvidia offered a reasonable jump from the 3090 for a slightly higher price, but what do you get here buying this from a 3080? And seriously, you found $1200 for a graphics card and can't find $400 more for a 4090?

This is unfortunate. Imagine if this was priced around the same price as the 3080. Or even more expensive, at $800. It'd be a great product. Hell, even at 900 it would have been reasonable. The performance is impressive, nonetheless.

I love my 4090 FE and I enjoy the technology Nvidia try to push like dlss and frame generation. But the 7900xtx is gonna crush this 4080 and eat it for breakfast.

With all the 16 pins connector issues too.. the 7900xtx at msrp ( I can’t stress this enough because AMD AIB cards are way more expensive than Nvidia cards (same cooler )), then rhe 7900xtx is really a great great value

What are the odds that the 7900XTX matches this in average performance?
The 7900XTX should easily match probably even beat the 4080 in raster.
For raytracing maxed out its still hard to tell, but its unlikely to really challenge the 4080 in games that throw the full bevy of RT features.

They will only continue to practice these prices, if people continue to buy them.
While we dont know how they will price the 4070(Ti)....people made enough of a stink that they had to unlaunched the 4080'12G.
If every reviewer keeps harping how stupid the 4080'16G is, and the comments sections/reddit/GAF/Twitter keep insulting its price and the suckers who are paying for it.
Nvidia will likely do a price drop at CES or GTC Spring.

We know Nvidia have a few chips to use.
What they could do to keep gouging those that need to get gouged is release the ~10240 CUDA core chip as the 4080'20G at the current price of the 4080'16G.
Cut the price of 4080'16G to something reasonable....id even take 900 dollars AIB as reasonable (800 best case).
4070Ti also reannounced at 6/700 dollars.
They still have a ~7100 CUDA core chip for the ~500 dollar 4070
The 6144 CUDA core chip goes to the 4060Ti.

People who want 24GB VRAM and a 4090 will pay whatever for it.
But for Mainstream/Enthusiast class cards like the xx80s and xx70s....they are asking too much.

If I can hold out till GTC Spring, im 78% sure they will announce a 20GB card and probably a price drop.

Huge improvement in perf/watt over previous gen.

Shame about the form factor and price. I might have bought one if it could fit in my setup.

Good card, bad price, I still can't believe they haven't addressed the whole melting plug thing. It's so sad seeing the community putting everything together because Nvidia hasn't addressed anything yet. It's been a circle of people claiming one thing, it fails, claiming another, it fails, etc.

Great great value?

The matter of fact is that, AMD is trying to sell you a 6800XT sequel at $999 range. They bumped the price but changed the name. It's not even a tight competition like RDNA 2 vs Ampere last gen with the $999 6900XT vs $1,499 3090, where they were trading tight blows with the 3090 pulling ahead at 4k. Now it looks like the 4090 is simply untouchable in performances.

Not so sure about about 7900XTX eating the 4080 for breakfast. Its matching and even exceeding AMD's own Red dead redemption 2 numbers. It will trade blows in rasterization depending on titles (of course some favoring Nvidia, some favoring AMD, we all know the games by now), with mostly the 7900XTX pulling ahead. (let's not even go in RT though..) Again, it looks like a déjà vu with 3080 vs 6800XT. Let's wait December 3rd i guess, there's a reason why AMD is wanting a match against the 4080 and not the 4090. 7900XT was basically going against the now gone 4080 12GB. They somehow managed to find a better name to not get the fury of tech youtubers.

And mid range is gonna be crap this gen, big time. Not impressed so far except for the absurd 4090 monster.
