Wednesday - New Tim Burton Series Based Off Addams Family Character

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?

I have not seen anybody talk about this. It's a new Tim Burton series based off the popular character from The Addams Family.

I don't know. I really don't have many high hopes for this despite having Tim Burton attached to it but we'll see.

When it comes to Addams Family spin-offs, this is still my favorite one here.

There was a brief yt series years back with the OG wednesday from the movies. "Adult Wednesday " or something. My wife introduced it to me, was actually pretty funny but they / she got shut down quick lol.

Is this it? I remember coming across this as well and then when this new Netflix series starring Wednesday came along...that's why I figured. Of course The Addams Family/Wednesday is copyrighted but I don't understand why take down or make them stop a fan's rendition as long as they are not claiming ownership of any of the copyrights.

Looks pretty good. Most people won't like Gomez, but he looks much closer to the old comic strips which they also used for the 2 new movies.

For a guy that’s supposedly known for having this unique vision it’s funny how so many Tim Burton projects are adaptations.

I don't know the little bits of his performance seem really flat. Morticia doesn't fare much better. I like Ortega but none of this is working for me.

Looks good, will watch.
I didn’t see Christina Ricci in the trailer, I don’t think we know who she’s been cast as yet either.

How is this not an October 26th release right before Halloween????

Seems restrained for Tim Burton, to be honest, unless he isn't directing or too involved in the production. I'm wondering if we will see some sly easter eggs like Edward Scissorhands or something. Otherwise this is yet ANOTHER "magical high school" show of which there have been DOZENS since Buff....err, Harry Potter :p

Man, Jones is awful as Morticia. Even Hannah put more effort in. Honestly the Fester actor is the only one that actually has any energy to him.

is on perm warning for being a low level troll

Once he got kids his artistic output really went downhill fast. Like it killed his mojo or something.

Just started watching and all I can think is they already had the perfect cast from the 90’s. The new characters are fine but it’s so hard not to make the comparisons. Guess the bar was set too damn high 😄

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Enid as Wednesday's foil, Thing, and the dance in episode four are the good bits.

Everything else, not so much. My impression was that the whole point of the Addams Family was that they had no idea they were in any way unusual, so having them accept being 'outcasts' would already seem to misunderstand a big part of the main joke. Having the school be a Poundshop Hogwarts, filled with werewolves and vampires etc, was also not only pointless when Wednesday is set up as not initially fitting in (why wouldn't she in such a place?) but the whole premise would have been far more robust had it taken place in a regular school. Also, why is she doing kung-fu?

It's pretty fracking hilarious that the media is attacking the show for its lack of diversity lol. I mean the main cast is Hispanic, the main rival is black, but fuck man, it has zero diversity!
Diversity means having color wheel casting from ALL the races. It also means having the full spectrum of genders and sexualities placed up front and center. It also means having the "right" groups placed in heroic roles and the "wrong" groups made as the unsympathetic villains.

Or something like that :p

It's also possible that Jenna Ortega is just too damn cute and that alone is triggering for some! :D

Light skin Hispanic get so much shit from the left it's hilarious.
Also, Eugene has 2 Les be honest moms

Anyways, I enjoyed the show, Ortega plays Wednesday pretty damn well.

i'm on the final episode. well just about to start it.

it's a bit too teen romance/love triangle for me but i like Jenna's portrayal of Wednesday and i like the other family members. Gomez is my favourite. if we get a Season 2 i hope they don't go for another school setting and cut down on the romance shit. i like that Wednesday is trying to solve a case so i'm up for more detective stuff. Reminds me of early iZombie seasons so i'd like them to lean into that more and have Wednesday try solve creepy murders/haunting etc.

Like the show, but the stupid woke lines just to please a certain group sometimes annoy me.

"mansplaining"
"you as a man dont know what its like to not be believed"
"lesbian moms"
etc...

It's just too obvious.

Is she also fighting the patriarchy? The lesbians was to be expected - it’s mandatory in all Netflix originals.
