Played through on sorc, higher difficulty. Was never remotely in danger once. Mechanically not very interesting, story is okay but style over substance, lacking depth. Not going to ever do the endgame loot grind since that’s just dopamine slavery, so it’s all about the core experience and story, but lukewarm on both.

pretty much my thoughts as well sadly.

Path of exile 2 is our only hope 🥶

Yep, the world boss is retarded for melees. You spend almost all your time chasing it around instead of hitting it. Also it turns out that your dodge skill has no invincibility frames, making it essentially worthless for dodging the big boss attacks.

I guess I should be happy that I was randomly placed with a ton of Level 25's who were mostly Necros and Sorcs. It was just me and some Druid who were actually melees in the fight, so the ranged classes killed it pretty easily for us.
Whats funny about this is the stongest character i have seen is a rogue mele build….was kinda almost broken against the boss.

In early 2000s some people played a magical game called Diablo 2, ever since then these people take it upon themselves to remind the whole world how everything in the world sucks because they can't have that magic back, I know people who are stuck like that on that one girl they dated for a summer, they never moved on, and their lives are always going to suck because of that

For me the classes played like this.Necro-broken Sorc-way overpowered. Rogue-awesome and then overpowered. Druid-very nice. Barbarian about right but way underpowered compared to the others at start and then you get good gear drops and it becomes probably more powerful than all of them.

IMO…..love the game though

Each character should have had their own starting area, then you go to the winter area (Fractured Peaks). Whereas the goal for the starting area(s) per character would be to gather materials to give to a vendor (a Blacksmith and Tailor) to make winter gear for the journey to Fractures Peaks. This would of course showcase the hunting for materials mechanic, i.e ores, fauna, different forms of transversal, combat, stealth (if added) etc. By throwing all the characters in Fractured Peaks with paltry backstory to explain WHY they are there, seems a bit lacking. As if something is missing. I at least wanted to be able to gather wood, food, ores, and hunt to survive a few days in the cave from the horrible blizzard (no pun intended).

Seems there's too much winter-y gameplay at the moment. Another idea would be the game switch from character to character as the introduction pans out. Different environments per each character/their home towns. Maybe the Necro lives is a bog or terrible swamp. The Barbarian in an arid plain full of large abominations, twisting and ominous rock formations, mud pits and hot springs. The Wizard, an old city at war with itself; a trading hub as well. Libraires of old, the fine comforts sold by vendors, cats upon windowsills in the summer night. The Druid in an Highlands area near an ancient forest. Rolling hills and crackling thunderstorms with overflowing rivers. The storms giving way to sunshine piercing through a fauna-filled forest. These areas for each character showcasing a short mission(s) (acquiring proper gear) that lead to the Fractures Peaks. Also, variations in colors. I find the game stagnant right now in this introduction; too much winter greys.
First Diablo or ARPG game ?

That’s not what this genre is about at all lol.

I need a slider to adjust the transparency of the UI.

Blizzard please. It’s 2023 that’s a standard feature at this point.

I don’t even look at the UI. It could disappear and reaper only when mana/life is under 20%.

I played Barbarian on the hardest difficulty available to the demo and never died once. Never came close to dying. Game is too easy.
Did you fought the Butcher ?
Try beating him.

Even Diablo 2 was hard. But the real game even in that started at Hell difficulty.
D4 is made to play forever. The insane difficulty spikes will come.

My minion build vs the kor dragon stronghold boss. I'm pretty satisfied with its damage considering how unhappy I was about minions at first.

Once you get the legendary aspects it starts to ramp up the damage heavily. +3 mages from amulet. +2 warriors from aspect. +%atk speed from aspect, +50% damage from aspect on my 2h weapon.

Supposedly the paragon board has minions damage and hp nodes so it's looking like I'm going all in with it.

Got my druid to 25 hardcore. Necro and need to finish off barb next.

Druid is a ton of fun and is versatile. Although, some abilities need a few damage buffs. Primarily the basic skills.

It's alright so far. Love the cinematics. Has a real 80's demon horror vibe that I dig. The gameplay is MUCH better on a controller. Really wish the evade button wasn't on a cool down as the walking movement feels slow at times.

So apparently we can buy a horse, but only after a certain quest. I heard the quest is not available in the beta but I did read someone saw a player on horseback?

Druid was cool looking but my god that damage out put compared to my Barb was , shit , complete and utter shit. I loved his look with werebear and wolf etc.. but then seeing builds saying to go another way... meh. I might go and do Necro again but I really wanted something different just not weaker.

Alright, I'm hooked again. This is really reminding me of the good old days of D1 and 2 but with the nice QoL additions of 3.

I want to buy this but I know I shouldn't. It's likely to hit Gamepass shortly after Microsoft finishes acquiring Activision-Blizzard. But June is still a few months away so let's see how things shake out there.

got to level 20. i don't want to play anymore. the game is a load of fun but i don't want to burn myself out. i skipped all of the cutscenes except the first few and all the dialogue. i'll keep all of that for the launch!

i just wanted to make sure i got the beta rewards like the little wolf puppy boy :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Done as well, quickly checked Necro and it’s bananas, maxed skeletal warriors as the first thing, rolled some chest with +2 to the number of warriors, I’m wiping the floor with everything.

I had so low expectations and didn't want to try the game.

Just did it anyway, and wow Im actually surprised how decent it is.

Necromancers feels like Diablo 2,i actually like them alot.

My only annoyance is these fucking long cutscenes i can't skip.
After getting dragged on the cart and being forced to see everything.

I mean I get free time to go to the toilet and get something to drink, but piss off with the forced cutscenes.

i think the campaign is going to be far more enjoyable than Diablo 3. not just in terms of story presentation but gameplay. i know the game wont really start until after the campaign but this is a big step up so i'm really looking forward to playing through the entire campaign. the map looks huge :messenger_smiling_hearts: and the ingame map isn't even showing all of it. maybe i missed some areas in the beta but it seems i could only access the area in dark blue:

i get why they added a horse/mount to the game. i'm wondering now how they will handle combat when mounted. is it just going to be a way to travel quickly or will we be able to kill mobs while riding? i don't know if any info on that has been released yet.

edit: well apparently only the coloured areas are going to be in the game. suppose it's still quite big just the coloured areas. oh well.

so hyped for the game! i was thinking about going back to Diablo 3 but i think I should give Diablo 2 a shot. i bought it but never started it. during its beta i played it for a bit but not much.

i don't know about that cutscene but i've been skipped most of them since the one Lillith appears at the start (around the same time as the cart scene i think). if you're on pc just hit ESC.

You'll have two months of cooling off once the beta concludes.

I have furiously hit escape to pass everything.

Apparently you could before but after the newest update you can't.

I can see other people talking about it on reddit as well.
Fucking ass watching 10 minutes of shit I don't care about.

Edit - found out its a bug. Alt plus escape fixed it.

my game is up to date and i can skip everything

maybe it's certain cutscenes you can't skip? if so then i don't see the problem. seems like most of them are skipable.

Come back to the thread now that I'm done with the beta and still see complaints about the game's difficulty in levels 1-20, things will never change haha. This is Diablo, loved it, I will enjoy the hell out of this game when it's released. No disconnects, no more queue, no stuttering, very polished in current state for me on PC.

This (levels 1-20) is akin to the tutorial of a normal game, how many game's tutorials have you been wiped in and found overly difficult?

Wait what???? That’s kinda awesome. Going back to Tristram and Westmarch in future expansions will be dope.
i can't find any info on those areas being in the game so i assume they are no in and it's just the coloured parts. i guess we're getting an act per area so 5 acts. seems about right.

I’m ok with that. We can go further west in future expansions. Popular locations can get the attention they deserve that way. Want to visit the Skovos Isles too.

If you poke around the in-game achievements/challenges, you can see some minor spoiler-y type things but from looking at it, there are 6 acts. As well as an epilogue. It's gonna be a huge game. That's for sure.

Torn whether to go PC or PS5. Where is everyone buying? Not sure a dungeon crawler needs 120fps. Image quality looks good either way.

Anyone else notice the console HDR seems blown out?

I'm going with PC for sure, but Console version has Couch Coop which is nice.

I've already preordered it and it's PC. Nothing else to play it on so no choice :messenger_tears_of_joy: If there is ever a Switch version or if I ever get a PS5 I might double dip

I might double dip, but bought it on PC first.
HDR is broken on console (did not test PC). I've put brightness to almost minimum.
I hope they fix the performance on PC. Even on 1080p with DLSS on my laptop with a 3070 (8GB) it's a mess. Drops from high 160s to mid 40s out of nowhere.
Really like playing on the controller. Don't miss a thing aside of some spell placement with sorceress or dashes with rogue here and there.

Can someone explain how in 2023 we are getting games where areas are pretty much copy and pasted? Talking about some misc dungeons but even story ones. I have now seen many exact same areas within these dungeons and some misc dungeons are just identical.

With things like procedurally generation you'd think we wouldn't see this anymore. Hopefully this is a beta only thing. It's unfortunate.

Played it this weekend, game seems good, but after getting a char to level 20 I'm already reminded of why I don't play these types of games any more, my hand is hurting and this game will give me carpal tunnel if I played it all the time.

Going PC here for the ultrawide life but played it a decent amount on PS5 and Series X and it runs really well on consoles as well

I do agree dungeon crawlers don't NEED 120fps but there are a lot of things in life I don't NEED but with tweaked settings getting close to my monitors 240 fps and its butter
