Performance's very good with an RTX4070ti at 1440p with DLSS 3.0, everything cranked up.

It also looks really, really good.

Holy shit, I started a completely new game and playing right now (1440p, Quality DLSS). It's so good!!! To me this kinda changes everything, the atmosphere, the grounding... I actually care about what happens in the experience/game now, and I feel like a kid at christmas. Yeah, I'm a graphics whore, and I'm totally fine with feeling good about it. 4090 justified.

hmmm maybe path traced aaa games are actually closer than I thought. Very cool nice video.
yes its good performance

before anyone jumping to say "but its 720p at 1080p dlss quality"

well, I made some tests. 1080p dlss quality produces identical quality to native (or better in certain stuff). however both looks very blurry sadly. its a win but not a good win regardless

DLAA is a solid win tho

JESUS CHRIST... I just saw on Twitter that the 7900XTX gets 9fps at 1600p FSR Balanced mode 😬
this isn't tailored to AMD hardware it seems

Dumb And Dumber GIF

They're gonna have to pump up those RT cores for the future.

I wonder how Intel performs here. (if intel even has drivers ready)

There is so much material from this floating around now showcasing the tremendous difference it makes and there are STILL some idiots downplaying RT in general when the discussion should have been done and gone with Metro Exodus EE at the latest already.........

Looks good but yeah it can destroy your framerate in some scenes. It's not just 10-20 fps drop, in some cases since I have lots of saves, I've seen it eat even 60 fps. Doubt ill use it when Im replaying it when expansion launches, but maybe theyll optimize it a bit more until then. Psycho-raytracing still looks good as it is.

My 3080 is getting a little over 30 fps on average @ 3440x1440 with everything set to high and DLSS on balanced. Game looks amazing (every scene has a pre-rendered quality to it), though the image quality takes a hit due to the relatively low internal res.

That is a big uncertainty.
Just recently, the CEO of ASML stated that, we are probably to reach a point where the economics of newer process nodes become the limiting factor, sooner than the limits of lithography.
So having smaller process nodes will become too expensive for consumer goods in the near future.

Maybe there will be some breakthrough in the next decade, that we can't imagine today.
But things are not looking good.
Then the military is going to invest in that tech, make it cheaper through government spending and then it will reach consumer goods.

I was finally able to play the game maxed out at a high frame rate before this update, now I'm back to ~100 FPS. It looks great but I may try to reduce some other settings to get more frames out of it. I'd love to finally finish this game but there has always been an update I held out for.

NO RT vs PT

PsychoRT vs PT

NO RT vs PsychoRT

Honestly not sure how to feel about it. I mena yeah, some shadows are better and look nice but on the other hand some distance areas dont look good, like they are not lightened up as they should but instead are too dark/covered in too many shadows.

This update is insane. Game already looked great without pathtracing. Everything looks like its in the same space now if that makes sense.

Yes

This is something that is hard to put the finger on and doesn't transfer well in screenshots, but your brain knows it feels more grounded in reality, just like VR tricks the brain with depth perception of objects even if they look simplistic. Your brain knows when the lighting doesn't make sense but we've been on that rasterization train for decades now, so it just has that "gamey" look.

What can I expect with a 12700 and 4080?

13700K / 4080 / 3400x1440p. Got 75 fps average in the benchmark with everything maxed out, DLSS Quality and frame generation. Occasional drops below 60 in Night city but not that frequently. Ultrawide takes its toll I suppose.

I guess I'm gonna spend the evening optimizing settings. I will probably bring some settings down for some frames and go with DLSS Balanced.

Guess it's time to start overclocking as well. Psycho RT already felt incredible, this now is just crazy.

Makes me think VR with pathtracing would be revolutionary. Might be possible with DLSS.

The new rain and reflection look milions time better .

The lighting though . In 95% scene Its doesnt feel like it worth the fps .

RTX4090 + 7900x:

All on Max settings:

1440p native(No DLSS/No frame Generation): Min FPS:24.24 Max FPS: 56.28 Average FPS: 44.05
1440p (DLSS Quality/No frame Generation): Min FPS:65.55 Max FPS: 99.80 Average FPS: 79:98
1440p (DLSS Quality/Frame Generation ON): Min FPS:109.20 Max FPS: 139.87 Average FPS: 128.77
Yeah same PC as me, been going around in crowded city areas and it runs absolutely terribly without DLSS (roughly 30fps) but with frame generation I’ve never even seen the counter go below 100. Top update! Time to get some new raytraced Panam booty shots 👍

Needs a faster door close than that for any of his posts..

This one then

Go Away Do Not Want GIF

Anyway,

Not mine but

Psycho vs Overdrive

Psycho vs Overdrive 2

Looking at those, the brain just settles in a mode where the scene makes sense, it is physically based lighting. Not that it looks bad without RT, but it's a freaking world of difference when we stop to look for it, especially with anything that is with light bounces - in shadow.

While this is very cool, I think CP2077 is not the right type of game for tech like this. I'm thinking something more constrained experience that is also designed to use this kind of lighting from the beginning. Maybe something like Hellblade 2?

For CP2077 I'd like denser simulation of city and game mechanics, not necessarily even better graphics.

I've seen the video on my 65tv, definitely improved and more accurate... but I don't know if I can say this is a game changer. Maybe it's because the video compression, or because Cyberpunk was not meant to have RTX, or the level of geometry is not insane, so everything looks accurate but still game-y to me.
For example, the Matrix demo is still more impressive and realistic to me, while Cyberpunk still make me feel I'm playing a videogame, a beautiful videogame, but still a videgame.

I haven't had time to look deep into it but it seems like ambient occlusion and SSR can be entirely disabled now. There's like a small fps difference, but i honestly couldn't tell the purpose of it now.

As with any game with RT reflections and AO they get replaced by RT so no need.

I was thinking so but even in RT psycho they had remnants of being used sometimes. Here I can’t find it though with overdrive, but had a ~3 fps difference, maybe just a case of repeating benchmark or something.

Also control is borked with RT, screen space reflection remains in effect.

I just tested and saw no visual and perf difference with them on or off. Didnt know about the Control bug. Maybe they still use SSR on certain surfaces that RT wasnt used?

For control probably, hybrid rasterization+RT is always a mix result.

Ok so no performances difference, must have been on my end.
