Is there a trick to finding caves? After that mushroom-dress lady marked some with costumes for me, I've only found a couple that were very obvious (on the side of a main road for example) and never saw that lady again.
By trick I mean, specific NPCs to talk to or something.
two actually...a mini satori/rabbit thingie is close to the entrance of each cave and will run toward the entrance if approached.
and by offering a fruit on a cherry tree satori will appear and put markers on caves for a certain amount of time.

Giving fruit to the statues at the pink trees spawns a spirit horse that marks all the caves in the area for a little while. I just spent a half hour looking for a shrine in a cave when there was another separate cave further away that actually led to it. Kind of hilarious.

This game seems like a pretty massive evolution of BOTW so far, but it's also (maybe because of that) a bit of a mess technically. I mean, it's an impressive achievement on the ridiculously outdated Switch hardware, but both he image quality and performance are pretty awful. The resolution switching when moving the camera is super obvious to me, and frame drops happen all over the place, definitely not just when using the Ultrahand (although that's when it's most common, as in almost guaranteed to happen every time). I get drops every time the camera zooms out from an NPC conversation etc. I don't know, maybe it's just my Switch (but that would be weird as it's a brand new OLED).

Honestly this games makes BotW feels like a demo.

>be me
>have 30 min to play while baby is napping
>start running toward shrine I have marked in the distance
>stumble upon town ruins with well
>explore well and find journal and bunch of loot
>continue toward shrine
>stumble upon Midna and her broken hot air balloon
>fix balloon and go for a ride
>new 90 hour sidequest unlocks
>continue toward shrine
>stumble upon cave
>kill monsters and find a chest hidden behind waterfall that has shirt that lets me climb faster
>kill glowie cave creatures that drop something the stables give you sweet gear for
>yet another 400 hour sidequest unlocked

this might be the last game I ever play, at least for the next 5 years, not even meeming

The game 'directs' you(Purah i think she is named) to go to Rito Village first ,then Eldin.

I did the Rito quest then Zora's Domain.

Would say the Rito is a lot shorter and less combat heavy, also they give you an ability that makes it easier to explore with the parachute, so its recommended to start there
did it? I was playing while it was late and sick and stupid well now I feel dumb lmao.. thanks for tip appreciate it!

Finally started exploring the depths. It's...okay. Mostly drab and not much in the way of interesting. The mine tracks are fun though.

Starting to fight stronger enemies, and man, this combat is so dull. Plays out mostly the same over and over. Using the wind attacks is hilarious to blow enemies off cliffs though.

Almost have the whole map visible from the launch towers now. Still at seven hearts, and two stamina chunks. Upgraded all inventory about four times each.

Depths are meants for leveled up players who build planes to get around and light the maps up

You are underpowered my friends you can just run around there or go on the skeleton horsey but its way harder

I was hoping for several locations that we could build one. The one they gave us wouldn't have been my first pick. It also annoys me that there isn't a separate roof texture.
I will pay for a DLC pack that lets me get my own sky island, which I can build things on that I use like Godess statue, a zonai dispencery…etc

this scared the shit out of me. i didn't see it at first only heard the scary sound and thought it was a blood moon.
Speaking of the hands, what is the action you're supposed to take when you see them? I've encountered them a bunch of times now and I usually just run and they seem to easily die to geometry in the area, if they get stuck etc. The few times they didn't, I just sniped them with arrows from high up. There doesn't seem to be a direct way to face them because they do that grab move over and over.

So after doing all the geoglyphs, I really wanted to continue that story point - spoilers for after the geoglyphs.

I liked the memories and the cumulative idea of the story for that portion and felt a burning need to get that master sword. I tried to rig up a flying machine immediately after the cutscenes but couldn't make it to the dragon. I kept looking around for her but felt like she never showed up. Ended up in an epic attempt to get on there and finally got the master sword! Anyone know what the attack level is on that weapon? It doesn't list the attack power in this one like it does for BotW. Love that it takes stamina this time instead of hearts. Fortunately I always focus on stamina because it makes the bigger gameplay difference for me!

I'm not sure either.. the first time I encountered them it was a bit frightening and they destroyed me, but upon respawn I immediately found a cliff vantage and that was the end of that. Seems kind of broken in a way what would otherwise be a pretty solid and challenging enemy type.

Anytime that enemy spawns I run towards a high place, then jump, and my x2 shot Yiga bow fused with flower bombs do the rest while in the air, it doesn't take more than 4 shot when aiming at the right spot.

But.. make sure to be ready for what comes after defeating that enemy..

Nothing has happened for me after killing any of them.:messenger_crying:

I've fell right off the game. Hardly touched it the last few days. I keep wishing I was playing BOTW instead. Tears of the Kingdom does a lot of things well but something about it just doesn't sit right with me. I'll keep pushing through the game for as long as I can but at least I can always go back to Breath of the Wild.

That seems crazy to me….I feel like I’ll have a hard time going back to BotW after Tears. I’m at 70 hours and still feel like there’s so much more to find

Im in it right now, kinda stuck on one of the doors. Are you saying its all downhill from now? :(
I've only done three dungeons including the Rito one but it gets much better. The leadup to the Wind Temple is honestly one of the best gameplay scenarios I've ever seen in a videogame and the next dungeon I did had something arguably even more creative and memorable.

This kind of statement give credit to those who say that's actually the same game despite what your real thought might be.

Because yes everything that's built is built on its foundation. And even besides the map, a lot of things are straight up from BoTW, from items to monsters, to music, to how the content is delivered and structured...even the gameplay, the UI, the animations, weather effects, organic interactions, things you find in the world (mazes, dragons etc).

So yeah, on those terms, i guess it's fair to say BoTW was a demo, but it's not a compliment to ToTK, just as much as it's not a compliment to BoTW. It's the first time i have this feeling with a main Zelda game (it's not the case at all for Majora's Mask and yet that was developed very quickly) and it seems everybody is fine with it, even trying to make up the idea that the game is so much better than BoTW (i mean yeah i sure hope that when you take basically everything from a game and add 6 years you can do better). The main concerns i see are related to the game not being like a traditional 3D Zelda game, which i don't really care since i love BoTW.

That's still a very good game but i don't really share the excitement. The additions are pretty good but still additions. The powers have huge potential but honestly neither the shrines nor the map from BoTW really exploit ultrahand at its full potential, far from it. The dungeons i did are also pretty weak.

People are used to bigger jumps like Zelda was Final Fantasy

Yeah there are points where i think im playing Breath of the Wild rather than a whole new game its a funny feeling, but it makes sense, Breath of the Wild is not the demo of TotK, its the intro,or the first part, this game is simply completing the story they had planned in this Hyrule, reusing assets and characters makes sense

The major issue i have is despite adding proper dungeon bosses the enemy variety is still poor, they took 6 years to add robots to the usual mix of Bokoblins, if they are going to place more emphasis on the combat with all these different weapons and styles why not make it not suck?,this is one area were the new Final Fantasy is just gonna be on another level

Honestly, I'm not impressed by the bosses. I've done two and they were pretty far from what I've seen and expect from Nintendo.

When compared to likes of
- Argorok (Twilight Princess)
- Stallord (TP)
- Puppet Ganon (Wind Waker)
- Ook (TP)

these are unimaginative. What I don't like either is how these new Nintendo bosses have a long health bar which has turned to fights more into Western game design kind of grinds. Even the two phases are very similar.

Bosses are still fine, just not on the level of what came before.

Finally got my travel medallions and some other stuff. Snowboarded from the heights to the shrine in an epic powder shredding run.

Not enough people are calling out the lack of control settings and general options available to the player.

So many games have plenty of settings to change be it accessibility, controls, audio, etc. and this game has next to nothing.

Game has ZERO audio settings and the music is way too quiet by default.
