I love PC Gaming

As a PS5 and Switch owner, I just find myself spending most of my time on PC.

Emulation, PC GamePass, Steam library, VR, Framegen and Controller features just light that spark with me for the perfect gaming experience.

Upgraded to 3080 and 2070 from 1060ti. Cruising through modded Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate, RDR2 and Starfield in Ultrawide is sublime.

Even with it's technicalities, I fucking love PC man.

Its compelling but mostly for library transfer and the open nature of it.
No haptic support on dualsense is a major consideration for myself, its night and day when you go from PS5 games to PC.Sure higher frames and image quality but the core experience of booting out of rest mode, continuing your save instantly with no windows is actually amazing.

Not to mention the haptics and triggers are not just a gimmick, even the in controller speaker adds a lot to the feel of playing the game, the tactile feedback and the immersion of the DS is incredible and adds a hell of a lot to the feeling and response from the game.

Some games support some of the DS features on PC but not many third party do where most do implement it on PS5. I hope in the future sony release a wireless dongle for it to be supported fully natively. Please no one mention the shit show app which is DSX.

I used to love console gaming, and will always have a soft spot due to the memories, but PC is just freedom, freedom to play games how you want, use what settings you want, use what controllers you want, play with cheats and trainers if you want, mods if you want, way cheaper game prices if you know where to look, etc.

Im willing to join the pc master race once these handhelds become a mainstay and streamlined. Something about sitting at a desk and gaming like its my job was never appealing to me. Reminds me of programming and writing reports for school. Prefer cozy console gaming without any hassles. Also hoping cross-save maybe sees the light of day

Starfield has so many quality of life mods already its incredible.

The only reason I even have a console is to keep my nieces and nephews happy in the living room.
Otherwise this generation I would have skipped it straight up.

You dont have to sit at a desk, you can sit on a couch and connect your PC to your 50" TV.

Cross-save is already a thing.
Pretty much every MS title has it, and most if not all games that have custom launchers also have cross-save.

Laptops are useless and waste of money.
Only way they are useful is if you have a work or need them for college.

I wasted 1k on laptops in 2 years and both turned out trash (1 broken, and the other become useless due to ram limitations).
Wish I used that money on PC early.
my laptops are for work.

No need for a PS5 anymore unless you want day 1 exclusives. I can wait though.

Wait and get shoddy ports like TLOU part 1.

PC gaming isn't doing so great these days, shoddy ports are commonplace.

On the Xbox side, some titles are worse on PC than on console. Forza Horizon 5 for example, loads rapidly on my Xbox Series S. On the Xbox app version on PC, it has forced unskippable splash screens that the Xbox version doesn't, and has additional looooooong delays where it sits there doing nothing. End result, it takes a few minutes to load even off an nvme drive. Even the credits screen is a 720p PNG (I found the file) which is just stretched to fill your screen. At least the Xbox version has a native 1080p file for that. What year is it?

Oh, also on the Xbox app, syncing cloud saves can take anything up to an hour. On Xbox it's quick. On the same internet connection. Why? Ask Microsoft, nobody knows. Been like this since forever.

Another example, I noticed a game I've overlooked, Plague Tale Innocence is cheap on Steam right now and has a demo. I tried it yesterday and it stuttered occasionally. No reason to, my system can run it easily. Googled, it's a common problem, never fixed. This is the sort of BS that PC gamers have to deal with frequently.

I love PC gaming too. I'd love it even more if we had more developers who actually gave a shit about the platform and put more effort into their ports. For every 5 PC games, there are 2 or 3 that are stinkers.

I take it you havent played TLoU Part 1 since launch, cuz they fixed that game super fast.
Even 8GB GPU work just fine now, even better they finally added in the medium and low textures which dont look like ass.

Hell the game will run at 60 with peasant machines now.

I did recently, it still stuttered at times for me. Steam reviews are still saying it has performance problems. It's BETTER but still not where it should be. Also I had some crashes. It's not fixed.

Meanwhile PS5 owners got it ages ago and it ran perfectly day one. That's why it's silly imo to say you only need a PC, not a PS5. While true to an extent, you have a lesser experience. (PS5 isn't perfect either, I've heard of the PS5 version of games sometimes running poorly compared to the PS4 Pro version running on a PS5. Game devs need to up their game, in every sense.)

PC is the Chef's kiss of gaming. Game will definitely be over once PC gets day 1 release parity with Sony console exclusives.

Will that ever happen?

Also while on the subject, some games still have yet to come to PC, like Gran Turismo 7. And it's probably better they don't, from a point of view of avoiding cheaters which Forza is plagued with.

Unless you have a CPU below a 3600X then thats bullshit.

A 12400 + 3060Ti will play the game on mostly high with little to no stutters other than rare traversal stutter.
Assuming you have a VRR display then the game will be in 70s and the traversal stutters will be near impercetible.

If you had said Jedi Survivor, I would agree with you, but TLoUp1 is all but fixed.

I have an i5-10600 and RTX 3060 12GB. (And 32GB of DDR4-3600.) Game on Samsung 980 Pro nvme. Stuttered badly early in the game just after the first encounter with infected and getting outside. This was after the shaders had compiled too (which btw is a ridiculous thing to expect gamers to tolerate, and which needs to be done again with every new driver update). btw I am simply playing at 1080p60 vsynced.

Not denying PC ports can be bad but patches sort that out pretty quickly. Also I have a Xbox Series X for occasional couch gaming.

PC Gaming Pros:

Play at the Visual fidelity and performance you want/can afford.
Mod Support
Steam
Gamepass
RTS and games like Baldur's Gate 3 Play better on PC
Get most games day 1 and Sony exclusives later.

PC Gaming Cons:

Can be expensive.

I hope it will happen one day. Once upon a time, we never thought we'd see a Sony game on PC yet here we are. I feel its only a matter of time. I'll continue to patiently wait for:

  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • MLB: The Show
  • Gran Turismo
Cheaters are everywhere. You can't stop 'em. Well, they can, but that's a whole nother story.

Bloodborne is another one conspicuous by its absence. (Not a game I'm into but it's very popular.)

Yes it could happen, it once seemed fantastical to imagine games like Forza would ever come to PC either.

It's the gaming enthusiast platform. If you are serious about your games and want the best quality and performance then there isn't really any other option. If you're serious about music or movie quality you don't stream them but spend extra on CD/Vinyl/Bluray and making a good sound set up or home cinema! That's what PC is for gaming.

Console is like streaming through Spotify or Netflix. It's "good enough" and cheap enough to be aimed at the casual market. Pro consoles are basically just the same except for people who want to spent £100-200 more which really isn't anything compared to PC parts. On PC with that mentality and price budget you might get yourself a new SSD, RAM, or PSU. That's not bad but most of your performance comes from CPU and GPU. My entire PC cost ~£4.3k. Console owners wouldn't even spend that much on hardware in their entire life.

love pc for emulation and playing older games modded (how else are you going to play the classic gta trilogy or stuff like deus ex or VtmB?)
current gen AAA games i'd rather play on my PS5 because i'm not paying for those crazy nviida gpu prices. also comfy couch pc gaming is not where it needs to be to replace consoles for me. steam big picture mode is ass.

Another game I like and still play a lot is Resident Evil Revelations, this got an enhanced version on Xbox One and PS4 but Capcom never brought it to PC. Graphics are better and it has an enhanced raid mode on console. It also never got any mods on PC to bring the better textures over.

Stuttering badly, means you likely have some other issues going on.
Even the 3060 should let you game at medium/high no problem, the the 10600 im assuming non-K isnt exactly a slow CPU.

You dont want shaders to compile?
Unless you want to go back to weak ass shaders then shader compilation is part and parcel, cuz doing it at runtime when games can have complex shaders with near limitless instructions is a bigger nightmare than you think.
If devs hide that compilation well, good on them (infinity ward are really good at this), but bulk compiling at the start menu is also a good solution.

Right it's all my fault, not the game. Okay bro. Bye.

Since I upgraded my PC I've turned my XSX on zero times and my PS5 on once and only to see if the image quality on Spider-Man was as good as I remember (spoiler alert - no it sucks compared to DLSS).

I definitely understand why people can't be arsed with PCs or don't feel they are good vfm but I'm really sensitive to bad IQ and poor framerates so the console experience just frustrates me.

yeah, the fact that you can set your experience to match what's important for you is amazing.
I have a comfy couch config + oled tv and that's great.
Also almost infinite catalog of games from every gen.

Yes, though I disagree with people dismissive of laptops.

I play on a couch in front of a TV and there's no way I'm hooking up a PC rig there. The closest I would consider is MSI trident or Alienware's Alpha but they don't really make systems like that anymore.

Im not denying you are experiencing stuttering, but its not a universal issue, like the launch version of the game being unplayable on 8GB cards, that was universal if used textures above medium, and if you used medium they were muddy as fuck......the first patch was massive and suddenly the medium textures actually looked good, almost like the devs forgot to include the medium textures.

But see ya later.

Congratulations, you managed to escape the walled gardens that are console platforms.

Now for the next step, try to escape the ever spying trojan horse and malware infested piece of shit that is Windows. Good luck.

While I appreciate the limitless options and modding potential of PC, for me it really comes down to the right tool for the right job. PC is necessary for the demands of FPS and RTS games because they need a lot of power and are best played at a desk. While I have the opportunity to use that same PC to play a third person action game or a platformer with a controller, and sometimes will do it on TV, consoles are just better at grabbing a gamepad, flopping on the couch and playing the game.
