lol I dont know why the look like that, but I told you not to create these giant 30 MB gifs. Thats three of them. Thats almost 100 MB. On the top of the page. going to make this whole page miserable to browse now.

trick with gifs is to keep it to one shot. its not a montage. its a gif. Also, for the gifcam, use Quantize from the dropdown when Saving the gif.

I recorded this gif with gifcam. Only 4MB, 16 fps, 774x556 size, and doesnt have the artifacts you see in yours. what monitor are you using? If you are on a 4k monitor or tv, be sure to switch to 1440p to reduce the size of the gifs.

I really like the mid day lighting here in 'some' shots. It doesnt always show, but I noticed a pretty significant leap over the harsh baked feel of the first game's mid day lighting. This has this really soft look to it at least when spiderman goes into his special moves. doesnt really pop in other shots in the trailer when hes swinging around, but its still a noticeable upgrade from the first game.

Not only that, it looks like the tod is also dynamic. It looks really good, better than the older 2 video's. There are still some part where it looks average but the overall visuals and traversal upgrades are a good step up from there last gen game. Day one for me as im a huge Spidey fan.

Here are some night time comparisons with the reveal trailer. Lighting looks better than it did in PS4 but i dont think they got close to that original reveal trailer. I do think had they added some hero lighting on enemies and spiderman during gameplay, it wouldve come a lot closer.

I think they add the hero lighting in some takedowns like you see in the mid day gifs above, but here its like eveyrone is in shadows which might be accurate but doesnt really look as good.

Just watched the videos.

Spiderman 2 got an upgrade, just not a significant one and still looks like a cross gen game. An improved lighting is the only real upgrade that stands out. The pop in is still bad. Character models are poor for next gen.

Avatar... Damn, it looks no better than Far Cry 6 at this point, just more vegetation. Really starting to worry about Outlaws, although that does seem to run on a much more upgraded engine with next gen features, but who knows at this point. SlimySnake SlimySnake will feel proper burned by this massive downgrade.

Ghostrunner 2 looks stellar, nothing else to say.

It's PS4?

I'm so confused, are people supposed to be going goo goo gaga over a splash of new grungy brick wall paint and foliage that look like 2d cards? It looks like miles morale with new textures. Was the showing better than what they showed at E3, yes but its a PS4 game through and through.

Just to get people to understand what I mean, compare the cloudy and night bridge scene (at 14 secs, 38 secs and 39 secs) from that video to this below.

This a video of the Matrix demo running real-time native 4k at 50fps. Watch it all the way through at 4k full screen with sound. Sure its not as art directed as the colorful spiderman with trees, plants and props. But there is a grand canyon gap in lighting and geometry density. Its not even close. Look at the scene under the bridge, notice the gradient darkness and then the warm glow as you look beyond from under the bridge. This is what realistic lighting looks like.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS POST
UNTIL YOU WATCHED THE ENTIRE 6 MINS AT 4K WITH AUDIO

Afterwards, I would like anyone to gladly explain to me how SM2's last gen lighting and geometry looks like this.

On a serious note though, 3:12 to 5:00 and then under the bridge at the end is one of the most mind blowing things I have seen.
The lighting and geometry of the building in whole video is mind-blowing but that part in particular, especially with the cars and reflection, wow.
The buildings actually look real and don't look like like a 2d cut out with grungy wall-paper.
Why ain't developers doing this?????

Though it isn't shipping game but a fan made rendition of Spider-Man in UE5,not the latest one but UE5 Spider-Man doesn't look any better than Spider-Man PS5 remaster.

In the latest footage you can notice lots of different tod/weather settings. Also in one of the earlier video's the sun was moving. The engine already supported dynamic tod since Miles but it was limited by PS4. Also the old games had 3 tod presets, it would take lot of storage to put this many tod baked lighting settings.

Avatar footage is 60 fps looks way better than far cry 6 and spider man 2 even division 2 buildings looks better than Spiderman 2

I have a hunch we'll get a PS5 Pro version with RTGI.

This, right here, looks fantastic.

The speed of movement. The amount of car traffic, both fantastic. There was some pretty good shit especially near the end of the trailer. And a few snippets of night.

Its definitely been polished up since the last abysmal showing.
But I swear you were showering the “last abysmal showing” with praises on loop alongside ChiefDada?

Having said that, the gif you posted is the part that wowed me the most in the trailer, all else looked like a glorified PS4 game nothing more.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions

Tis new spiderman 2 footage wipes the floor with avatar. The game, like I predicted, got the u is soft special. While spiderman 2 got an upgrade.

Not at all, I was one of the most harsh critics here on the first showing

The only games that don’t look like glorified ps4 games all gen to me are space marine 2, burning shores, and possibly Alan wake 2. I’m taking what I can get with this.

But spider 2 to me now looks better than the likes of Starfield, avatar, and final fantasy 16

Lol avatar looks miles better than Spiderman 2 spider man 2 characters maybe lighting npcs looks way better lol

So, people are really bitching about Avatar's visuals? Considering the fact that it's running on PS5 at 60fps, it does actually look very good, especially the draw distance, much better than Horizon.
And I read people compare Avatar to FC6, like what the actual Fuck !? Lmao

The lighting here is 🔥

I'm loving the locations, I'll say that the shadow rendering is pretty meh a lot of the time (Zero shadows for grass and lots of unshadowed objects in every shot)

and stuff like this

Graphics are really good, not exactly next-gen but man the scope of this game looks HUGE! One of the most ambitious FF games to date.

I remember in an interview they said they were leveraging the SSD to stream in the huge open world maps and areas, this was months ago, seems like it paid off.
Yeah dont fall for that PR. This game is coming to other platforms in just 3 months. Very short timed exclusivity period. My guess is switch 2 and pc. Watch this run on HDD just fine on PC.

Apparently that avatar footage is from the 60 fps mode on PS5. I am surprised they even got it working for a next gen open world game, but its obvious they had to downgrade a lot. You can see FSR artifacts that show either performance mode or maybe even utlra performance mode we saw in Immortals. So 720p base compared to the 1440p base we saw in the E3 30 fps ps5 footage.

The PC version footage released at gamescom looked even better than that 30 fps ps5 footage so there is hope it was only downgraded for the performance version.

Burning shores is literally a glorified ps4 game with PS5 clouds though

Spiderman PS4 vs PS5 vs Matrix vs Movie CG Comparison

Matrix comes the closest to matching the CG in the movie, but honestly, it's closer to the Matrix than I originally thought. The ray traced reflections and lighting are there but the asset quality of buildings hold it back.

I think it's a double edged blade. Sony's first party have the technology to push a micro-polygon rendering system like Nanite. The issue is the performance cost, imagine if Spider-man 2 didn't feature a 60 FPS mode, we'd have 20 meltdown threads.

no one is even talking about lack of 60 fps in starfield. that was a big news story for like a week back at E3. i think sony first party needs to go back to their roots. just go fidelity over everything. with the pro coming out soon, they can just say buy a ps5 pro for 60 fps.

I legit laughed when this came up. Straight up ps3 quality. I noticed these in a couple of scenes in the first game too. Its when they go into a large area, they reduce the LODs on these characters by a massive amount. very rare but i had wished that the ps5 was letting them go with high quality models at all times. I guess they just dont have the rendering budget on a 10 tflops GPU with their engine and all the other stuff going on the screen. bet they are targeting 60 fps too. FF7 ran at 1440p 60 fps on the PS5.

I will wait for the PC version.

Boy It is gonna be fun when we are gonna play that thing on our tv and it is not gonna look at all like those gif that hide literally every graphic flaw or low res assets that we all saw in the actual trailer.

Also, can we keep the disgusting milking operation part 2 out of this topic?

Please and thank you.
