I'll wait for a sale if i do buy this. Im way more excited for Red because of the feudal Japan setting.

I just reached Baghdad, explored for a bit and I am bored out of my mind. I would've been all over this if it came out like 7 years ago because it really feels like a proper Assassin's Creed, but man it feels ancient now.

Legit felt bad for the devs but I speedran through the intro sections like there was no tomorrow, skipping dialogue every chance I got. It is overwhelmingly dull.

The start of this game is really, really bad. Basim is a class-a jerk, written so poorly that it reminds me of a bad cartoon - the lovable thief with a heart of gold who really wants to help the people. Man get outta here. Then the training segments which are both trying to take their time and rushing through it. It feels like halfway through the devs themselves know that it's an obligatory bit that people want to get over with ASAP, so kudos for that. I just hope Ubi finds a way around this for their next games.

Visually it looks nice because the setting is nice - great art direction and as always with AC games A-tier world building and level design. Music is beautiful. Performance-wise there's a lot of very annoying micro-stuttering going on, not sure what's up with that but it's not helping my already not overwhelming enjoyment of the game.

Basim after killing 50 innocent guards to "liberate" the people:

It doesn't help that Basim is a bad guy in Valhalla, if they'd have swapped the games around that would've been a bigger moment at the end of Valhalla

I'm on the final set of missions now, I like it alot and glad its a shorter game, I don't need a 200 hour borefest like Valhalla was for 80% of it, give me that action/stealth game in a place in history, that all I ever want from AC

My only issue with AC going to Japan is that Ghost of Tsushima exists and is pretty much what I'd want from a AC: Japan

Its a shame that Russia has been kinda done and is a hot button topic atm as it has some great history with the Tsars and Rasputin that AC would be perfect for

Never played it, but i think AC Red will be able to stand out from that. Also Ghost of Tsushima is set during the mongol invasion. Red will likely be set in the Sengoku period or Edo period.

Its funny seeing posts by people blaming the lack of originality in a game where literally 99% of games, especially sequels, have the same issue.

A weird argument to make. I can't point out the lack of originality in this game because other games might not be original either?

I'd love for this game to bring something new or fresh or innovative. Anything, really. But it doesn't, which is a problem because from the get-go you're playing a game that feels you've already played for dozens of hours, making the gameplay tiresome and trite almost immediately.

I've never been more conflicted about buying a game before. On one hand I like the older AC games, on the other it doesn't seem like it's done much new and there's so many good games out right now and coming out later this month.
One nice thing to remember is this isn’t a 50+ hour slog like Origins/odyssey/valhalla

20-25 hours and done.

Playing with Arabic voice and it's really good. 8/10 so far.
I thought about doing that but I wouldn't understand it all
But I've had some people call me crazy a few times, no translation needed

Ghost of Tsushima is a better game than Ubi is possibly capable of making.

I finished it tonight, a great little palette cleanser and a solid game, 7/10 imo, better than Valhalla at least, though quite where they go with Basim never does quite get answered, like I expected an epilogue explaining why he went to Eivor and Britain in Vahalla

Best part of this game is just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere. When the sun sets and people in the city are just chilling the game has a fairytale-like quality to it. Dreamlike even, at times. Brings me back to the times of ACII where I'd casually stroll around Venice and Florence and just soak up the vibes. Every mission so far ranges from mediocre to straight up bad for a plethora of reasons, but holy crap did Ubi once again nail the visuals and setting. Amazing work.

Crazy, AC Unity needs Remastering

So many games need 4k/60 fps updates for these consoles it's insane. These companies refuse to do it though despite these games making up a big portion of their own streaming services libraries. For example Ubisoft has Ubisoft + which is $18/month ...is that not incentive enough for them to want to update their games?? It would only bolster and help grow their services! Yet they don't..probably because they're afraid updating AC Unity or Syndicate will take sales away from Mirage and other current games.

Microsoft, for all their reputation as having the best BC library, actually has come up woefully short on many Xbox One games that are still pitifully locked to 720p/30 on Series X.

It sucks to be a console player because these companies treat the platform like crap despite earning the most profit from us. Fucking Rockstar not updating RDR2 for 60 fps, Sony with Bloodborne, etc

Already runs at 60 on XSX.
Same on PS5 but 60fps isn't what the game needs
30 or 60
Vaseline is still Vaseline
I think a Remaster at a respectable resolution with some touch ups here and there to textures and assets and the game would arguably be the best looking game out there.

Still pretty lengthy when you compare to the Ezio games though. Sounds great really.

They nail the visuals in this series so hard IMO.. Amazing stuff.

How can you guys even compare Tsushima to AC? I played Tsushima a couple months ago and loved the hell out of it, but it doesn't seem much like AC games to me.

Eh......matter of preference. GoT has better open combat, imo, with the switching stances. Also love the scenery of Tsushima island. You seem to be a massive Ubisoft fan though based on your post history and that is fine. I like their games as well. So far I'm enjoying
