Wrasslin' Thread 20XX |OT| New Age WrestleGAF

I figured I'd post this since Jim chimed in on the TNA rename.

Admittedly it's 20 minutes. (The last 9-10 minutes are a sports betting ad.) He's basically reiterating some of the same stuff I've been saying which is TNA/Impact's problem is their booking is shit.(Sorry TNA fans, if you think Scott D'Amore has been doing a good job the ratings disagree.) Pretty much the only reason the show is still on is the company that owns them owns the channel. (Should I mention they lost a hour of programming recently?) Anyway I agree that the matches are good, the booking is shit. (I'm sorry, the Edwards/Kaz match felt like it was leading into a loser leaves blow off match and wasn't the blow off match itself. When you have to have the announcers tell us that, you've done this wrong.)

Some of this was interesting to listen to, but man his hatred for Russo can make him sound unhinged at times. I also laughed that his view of Russo marrying his high school sweetheart somehow makes him some type of cuck because he didn't get to try stuff out...Like Jim knows that you can TRY all kinds of different stuff with your spouse outside of watching other dudes fuck her right?

I've always had interest in TNA/IMpact but the production in the past has been almost as bad as the shit they would put out there creatively. I'm not a huge fan of intergender matches, Trinity or almost any of the "main event" players in the company right now. I hope they can turn stuff around cause more options isn't bad. If they could hire a proper booker/creative head they could be a very attractive alternative for dudes done with the WWE who don't want to sit on the sidelines in AEW to get a 2 month run where they job to OC and the tiny boys in the undercard til they disappear again.

Glad to see activity again. I really dont understand whats so hard about coming up with a few good storylines. Even taking old ideas would be fine at this point. No-one does slow builds anymore it seems.

Yeah this has been one of my biggest Tony Khan gripes. Not every feud needs to be drawn out over 9 months or more, and not every title reign needs to be a year or more. Same goes for the fucking Bloodline storyline with Roman never defending and even when the Usos had the tag belts forever. I actually like the idea of rehashing elements of old feuds with modern twist. People just want to be entertained and forget about life at the end of the day.

I had to really restrain myself from making a crack about him going off on Russo again. He does sound like an utter lunatic when he does that and he probably thinks he doesn't.

Totally agree. I watch TNA/Impact regularly and I'd love it if they could step up their game and we have another attractive alternative to WWE and AEW. I mean beyond the extra wrestling I'd get to watch it would make AEW and WWE step up their game too.

Tony should really consider stopping the big and important nonsense announcements. It makes his brand look pathetic and desperate for ratings.

I for one can't wait for the big announcement on Collision that Dynamite will in fact be airing on Wednesday night!!!!! Crickets

At least we got that young up and comer Ric Flair signed officially :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I don't think I understand what's going on with AEW anymore. Where did Ric have his tag match? Are they simply trying to do that again or what? And why have Big Show wrestle NOW? Retirement match as well? He looks like doesn't wanna be out there.

For Big Show, I think its the other way around. The dude insisted from day one that he wanted to be in the ring again. Its probably why Big Show vanished from all commentary the past year, which he was terrible at - and just focused on coming back I guess.

They (Tony) probably feel sorry for the guy and let him have his chance, again. Anyone with eyes could see that the guy can barely stand up, let alone move around.
Now, to please his retirement endcap - people like Hobbs are going to be buried once again.

I remember that now, I believe he still wanted to wrestle in WWE and he was an ambassador I think.

Maybe he should just have a retirement match and leave it at that. He really, really did not look good. Id hate to see them try having him jump off anything.

I would NOT be surprised.

There's no chance in hell they snag him but it's nice that he gave the company the rub on the way out. Class act.

What is there to make Smackdown really interesting the rest of the year? Asking based on someone claiming Roman is likely off until 2024. As much as I like LA let’s be real. They didn’t give him a segment at Wrestlemania and he lost his title match. Feuding with Jimmy is just filler.

I guess I got in on AEW on the downslide... reminds me of late 90s WCW once the nWo angle really started to fizzle. AEW Collision reminds me of WCW Thunder, just too much shit they're trying to get you to watch. A tight two-hour block of weekly TV plus 4 PPVs a year is the pace I would actually want.

I'm praying it's Eva Marie. It is the worst pick anyone could make and I want to see the meltdown. If she gets a job, then any wrestler sacked by WWE need to look at themselves if they don't get a Tony offer.

Turns out Becky Lynch is dumb as shit. 😂

That URL wasn't loading in at first and I thought that meant that she was signing with AEW somehow, and thought, yeah, that's pretty dumb!

Watched the Jeopardy ep on demand... ya know... I don't think it was quite as bad as Wolf Blitzer at least. She's not detail-oriented enough for the show, got rattled, and either kind of gave up or couldn't figure out the buzzer to get some of the freebies. Also I've gotten a *lot* worse at Jeopardy since last time I watched it. And I thought I'd get better as I got older. Whoops. Goodbye brain.

“I feel like I’m at my best over here. I’ve enjoyed every time I’ve come over here, and right now this is just the best decision for me and my family. I’m not interrupting my kids’ school, my Mrs. can see her parents, like, this is, I get to be one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever done it, and I get to do it on weekly TV, and I get to test myself in these waters.”

Ospreay is a great signing, hope he doesn't get lost in the midcard shuffle around the nonsense pockets title and is AEW champ sooner rather then later. Their title picture right now is worst levels of Super Cena booking around MJF and he can't lose that belt soon enough. I would be worried if I was him as they really haven't done much of anything useful with Jay White other then have him lose to a one legged man at Full Gear.

Wait, they actually hired Punk? Guess he didn't have a no compete clause. Oh well, guess I know what section of Raw or Smackdown I'll be skipping. (Did I mention I consider him the most over-rated wrestler possible?)

Lets go, always was a Punk fan. Can't wait to see where this goes when he's not working with children with a manchild as his boss. This just puts a weird piece to fit into the building Mania stories. I think we could be possibly looking at Punk/Rollins Night 1 and Cody/Roman Night 2, didn't really seem like we had a definite spot against Seth as is, and Punk can be an easy target after getting beat up and cashed in on by Priest and Punk takes over Codys spot on Raw when Cody goes to SD after Mania and Roman is no longer there.

not gonna lie, I half expected the camera to cut back to Seth laughing and it was a big hoax. Gotta say, not sure what he's been up to since leaving AEW but he looked MUCH better then almost his whole run in AEW.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Fuck me, hell really has frozen over :messenger_tears_of_joy:

edit: Seth is clearly not happy lol
