Don't force me to like something, that happened to me with COD but didn't work cause the attention span from the first 5 minute is a lot to know about the series.
It's so bad I agree, I know every generation says it about the next but ffs I think it's genuinely at a point where my Gen, Gen X was the last great Gen where people weren't totally fucked in the head and good at their jobs etcMillennial writing in games. I hate it everywhere, but gaming is my backyard.
Yes, and also Fornite!Roblox needs to be removed.
That's me!
i think everyone is sick of millennial writingMillennial writing in games. I hate it everywhere, but gaming is my backyard.

Yeah it feels hollow. I got sick of Hades II cause while I was learning the game, I got sick of the same environment and bosses. Although I wouldn't mind going back to Shiren someday.Fuck all roguelikes! I'm so sick of devs obsession with that shit.
Man it's so weird in GoW Ragnarok everyone sounds like they talk like California art students doing a stage play lol
Damn!! Beat me to it!!
Romance novel smut is trash, as are most mobile games....and they absolutely qualify as literature and video games respectively, it simply is what it is.Mobile games are not actually video games any more than romance novel smut is literature.
Of course, what you are responding is a given, but this is an "old man yells at clouds" rant style thread. My desire is that AAA (particularly 1st party) actually take some risk and do something new and different for a change rather than what is formulaic and known to sell.I don't believe its the devs fault when it comes to not taking risks. You are forgetting that these devs are being held up by the executives and stock holder people who have no clue how video games work.
All they see is currently what's working and they want more of that so they do not green light risky projects and instead go for the safe stuff that they believe is gonna make them the most money.
If you want risks, then you need to go look at indie devs who are not bound by the publishers shackles.
I think the day will come when it's not up to you, when you want to play certain games.
Worse than that: L3 sprint. You want me to click the same stick I'm tilting? Even worse on plastic sticks where you can get indents carved in over time.
What annoys me more is when Crouch is also on R3 and no one thought to swap them. Crouch on L3 and Sprint on R3 is infinitely better.
I think the day will come when it's not up to you, when you want to play certain games.
I think tank controls are fine as long as the game is designed around themTank controls are fine. They're good, even.
If you're having a tough time with them? Git gud, as the kids say these days.
Bring back Start and Select
They never really went out since there's two buttons in each console, and people from the golden age still says those names. But changing to + or Option, or whatever is stupid. Kids today don't really know this and maybe things can be weird for them, but guess what?! It was simpler before
Playing MGS1 right now, backtracking is fun with the keycard system.I have another take: Backtracking is not bad.
I see a lot of players and journalists pushing the idea that backtracking is a sin, but some of our most beloved games have it. Ocarina of Time and Resident Evil 1 and 2 are good examples.
I think backtracking helps create a real sense of space in a game. Games without it can feel disposable because they keep pushing you toward the end. A lot of games do not even try to test players intelligence anymore and often present puzzles that can be solved immediately on the spot.
Nowadays it is hard to find a game that is not afraid to give you a playground with different paths. Something you can explore, experiment with, and return to. Developers worry people might drop the game if something does not click right away.
This trend has been going on for 15 to 20 years. Even franchises that used to excel at this later made more linear entries. Resident Evil 4 and Skyward Sword are examples where puzzles are usually solved right then and there and scenarios are designed to avoid having the player backtrack.
Nah. Games are better than ever. There might not be as much innovation as back in the day, only natrual. But classic games come out every year. If my ten year old self could get a peak at games from the last few years, I'd have a heart attack.
Who are YOU to articulate what "Walking Sims" are? Who are YOU to tell others what video games are!?!? I suppose you don't think Seaman is a video game either....oh, another one.
Walking Sims are not video games... stop calling them games. a game needs game mechanics... walking through an environment is not a game mechanic.
you don't walk through a museum and say "I am playing museum", neither do you play Dear Esther... you walk through Dear Esther!
Fuck all roguelikes! I'm so sick of devs obsession with that shit.
When I encounter tough boss fight I want retry immediately to beat it not go entire run again just get the chance to retry boss again…..see that's how games used to be though, start at level 1, try to get to last boss
i am confused as hell why some games even qualify, because they check a few boxes but aren't like rogue at all
and there are so many, the rogue fatigue i get, but this old man gamer likes to start at level 1
When I encounter tough boss fight I want retry immediately to beat it no go entire run again just get the chance to retry boss again…..
For me roguelikes is opposite of fun.

a walking sim is an interactive software where all you do is walk and look at stuff.
something where nothing is blocking your progress or challenging you to overcome an obstacle. purely a digital environment where stuff happens as you move through it.
Dear Esther is the best, purest example of this. zero interactivity, purely walking and listening to dialogue. like a museum.
walking and looking at stuff is not a game.
zero skill is asked of you, nothing is blocking your progress, and no interaction can lead to a failure state.
Seaman is a game, he can die if you don't feed him and you have to keep the aquarium in a good state... is it a good game? no... but there's a win and lose condition...
