Capcom has patched an incestuous relationship from the new DLC character Alex with his sister-cousing:

But the new text makes the connection murkier, albeit not eliminated entirely. It reads: "He's a distant relative of my Mum or something, and was a sparring buddy of my Dad."

The incest thing was bizarre and frankly disgusting. Really have no idea who on the writing team thought that it was a good idea and maybe they should keep their own fetishes out of games.
 
Now that's cleared up, maybe we can worry about the actual inbreeding going on in families of a certain demographic.

I'm not up on the lore here so can someone clar something up:

If the dad is a cousin of his mom. Thats not his cousin. That's a second cousin.

That's not really illegal and like less than 5% of DNA shared. Is there something that makes it creepier?

Because otherwise that's A LOT more common than you think.

Tantruns being thrown. Lots of users, (here inclusive) do not know how to count, saw the word COUSIN and the rest is history...

It's not like they found each other, started a relationship, and then found out they were second cousins. I'd still be weirded out by that, but at least you could see the rationale behind people not ending the relationship at that point.

The real issue is that he is five years older than she is, he was raised as her sibling since infancy, and he's biologically her second cousin. That entire dynamic is really fucking gross.

Honestly if it was just the second cousin thing it would be kinda weird but whatever.
But then you add the fact that they grew up as adopted siblings and it just gets creepy IMO.

I agree in that case, but so this basically does absolutely nothing to fix the real problem.

I mean at this point that would need large changes, but this change is purely for show/pr control. Which honestly makes it even more disgusting.

It wasn't incestuous before: Tom was cousin (didn't specify if first, second or more distant cousin, but we assumed first cousin) of Alex's mother, meaning Alex and Patricia are/were second cousins (assuming Tom and Alex's mother were first cousins and not second or third), not first cousins and not siblins. So there isn't incest.

The age difference is 3-4 years. And they aren't siblings, are/were (maximum, what we assume) second cousins. So there's no incest.

Tom was his mother's (didn't specify if first, second, etc) cousin and his father's close friend and sparring partner. He became his father figure when Alex's parents died when he was a kid.

I thought getting married to your second cousin was already acceptable lol.

I know 3rd onwards is a safe zone but still, hearing that you share the same great grandfather is still a bit weird.
