Ah well.


I'm going to a 10-day trip around Europe tommorow, so I'll be gone for a while, but don't you guys think I'm ditching HoN! (I'll just unlearn all reflexes I built up till now! Great progression...)

Oh, it's a long story. Girlfriend won the trip, but plane tickets and other expenses not included. Wasn't planning on spending 1.5k on a plane ticket this year, was rather considering buying an engagement ring, but then that comes and screws all my plans and leave me 1.5k poorer.

I'm sure I'll appreciate it once I'm there. In the meanwhile, it's like BLAARRGHHH ididntaskforit.

Canada, yeah. The lag disappeared somewhere into the game, but by then the early laning phase was over and t'was quite too late to farm up money and denies. Dunno what was up with that, but it was really annoying.

Could have been a plan, but my budget didn't allow for an engagement ring on top of plane ticket + extra money for expanses in Europe. Well, not unless I wanted to buy nothing for me this year.

She'll have to wait!

For all the new people coming to HoNGAF, we need to organize a GAF class where we can put all the new people together and teach them the game.

Everyone new should post their IGN and what times everyone thinks is best.

No, the way you and I learned was by getting our asses handed to us in 100+ TMM games with Meeru... in the end it made us better players faster than being bookworms on the internet.

Too bad I can't TMM with Meeru anymore because I fear him wifequitting in every single game.

I apologize if this has been discussed before but... I have a friend who picked up this game and is getting pretty frustrated with it. He said he didn't have nearly as much trouble when playing LoL (which I can't compare this too, since I haven't played LoL). I just have no idea how to teach someone this game. We've played about 4-5 TMM matches, and although the matches overall kind of went back and forth, he did poorly every time (I think he had one kill total). He wants to learn and play the game since several of our other friends play HoN as well (no one plays LoL), but I have no idea what to suggest. I try to give him general tips while playing and also explaining his skills and what he should be doing as any given hero, but I'll admit it's tough to do when in the middle of a game. HoN has so much stuff to learn and you don't even really realize it after you've been playing for a while.

It doesn't help that he starts at 1500 mmr, which seems to be where a lot of average, but decently knowledgeable players hang out at.

Should I tell him to watch streams or something? Lots of people (angrily) tell him to go play public no-stats games, but those don't seem very conductive to learning. I didn't even see any of those games being hosted when I checked the list.

Well what's he having trouble with? I'd imagine if he's played LoL then he's aware of the how to actually play the genre.

BardUI is what I use now, prefer it to MiniUI, just make sure you get the Screenheight mod also.

Read guides. Keep playing. Invite him to GAF games, usually running anywhere from 9pm to 12pm EST, 3am on weekends.
