What a strange time and place to be recommending Needless. I concur, but only because it's such a classy show.

I mean, they really did well in trying together 'manly' shounen action and the perverse tastes of otaku in one package. The way they deal with such problems is thoroughly ingenious. For example, how will your average shut-in otaku with a weak body possibly relate to the protagonist, the mighty Adam Blade? The answer is: make the protagonist a pervert with the same fetish as the otaku! Genius.

This show sounds a lot more sophisticated than the first episode made it out to be when you put it that way!

Needless is seinen.

Seems to be a IRC thing.

If so it was sometime I wasn't there, because I have no clue what a tampire is either. I guess no one is going to explain, which is kind of annoying. :(

Actually, I do have seasons 1 and 2 already. This bundle has 2 and 3 and it actually works out cheaper than if I just bought season 3. I got the first season as a full bundle set in one of Rightstufs bargain bin sales. All 13 DVDs worth.
Ah, I see, that's cool. Oh, does the first set include those opening OVAs? If so, then the only thing of note you'd probably be missing is the "YUA In America" OVA (aka "YUA: No Mercy"). It doesn't have a US release, oddly enough, but it's pretty silly stuff -- expect lots of guns and shooting, of course (I mean, that's what police in the US do all the time, right? Have gun and rocket launcher battles with criminals?). It was made after S2.

As for season 3, I've seen part of it, and it was great to see the show back again... it hasn't changed much, but the formula works well, so that's okay.

This is what I don't get, the whole reason Notoya is in the demon realm is for Lotte to suck him off, hell she's showing signs of affection towards him throughout from early on and you decide the line is crossed when some other guy is into Lotte.

Not implying you have double standards, just a very skewed one.
I think that it's because I believe that he likes her mother the most (he may love her, actually), so I don't take his feelings for Lotte as seriously, romantically at least. Does he love her, or care for her as his love interest's daughter? The show probably is trying to somewhat have it both ways (understandable given the kind of show it is), but it is a fair question I think.

That whole show is fucking disturbing. Especially when you see the dude's kid and realize something very shocking.

That was pretty messed up, yes.

They're laying it on a bit thick, aren't they? By which I mean the episodes theme of 'people moving on in their lives and growing distant from each other'. That kind of thing. It sure felt overplayed.

Unfortunately this episodes good pacing and excellent cinematography and animation is once again undermined by, well, itself. Anything and everything that revolves around 'The Producer' is terrible, I'm afraid, and the last scene in the episode (pre-credits) has especially hilarious. Well, I think it was supposed to be serious, which is perhaps why I found it so funny.

First thing I noticed was Maken-Ki! Should I be interested? Okay - I'm interested.
Do you like to make yourself suffer by watching terrible action-harem shows? Well, Maken-ki should be fine then, because it's that, except with a significantly worse than average MC (really, he's pretty awful), and no other redeeming values making it worth considering either (bad writing, bad characters, constant sexism, etc.), unless you only watch your anime for pantyshots and nothing else (because it does have a lot of those). I don't, really. If you do want to do that though, yes, watch Agent Aika, that franchise is actually good.

... On that note, I'm an episode or two behind on the show...

Or, as franchises: Agent Aika >> Queen's Blade || Ikkitousen >> Maken-ki

There are four Agent Aika series, two that make up the seven episodes of the '90s version, and two that make up the six (I think) episodes of the '00s version, which is a prequel. And yeah, I actually think it has a decent sci-fi anime plot; though of course it's also about having more pantyshots than anything else, it's decent fun. Aika is a strong female lead too, no "the girl is strong but the guy is better" stuff here.

Speaking of anime folders, how do you guys organize your fanart folders? By artist or by anime?

By anime/game.

Don't look at me. I always recommend quality stuff like Haibane Renmei and Kino's Journey.
and School Days

How about Texhnolyze?

When I asked about Noir like a month ago animuGAF told me it was terrible and that I should stay away.
Some people who are wrong like to hate on it, and all of the "girls with guns" shows, yes. That is, people who hate Noir generally don't like Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja, or sort-of "girls with guns" show Avenger either. I like all of them, though Madlax is my least favorite of the four for sure. Noir is the best, and the others are in between.

[One Piece Movie 6]

Last weekend I showed this to a friend (the third friend that I've tried the movie on) and it went down reasonably well. It's usually a chore to get him to watch any anime (even when I know he'll enjoy it) but this movie was especially risky considering how downright weird it gets.

Suffice to say, he had trouble with some parts of it, especially near the beginning. I told him that the movie was kind of like a metaphor for working at Studio Ghibli and for some reason that made him enjoy the movie quite a bit more.

I think one of the strengths of the movie is how one can enjoy it on a number of different levels. Perhaps you're just a fan of One Piece, or perhaps you like the story that it tells, or maybe you find the themes that the movie discusses interesting. Crucially, though, you don't have to care about any of that stuff to still have fun with the movie: you can only pay attention the to the surface and still have a good time.

So I'm really getting a lot of use out of this movie. I've seen it four times in the last couple of month, which certainly speaks the quality of the work.

Can I solicit purchasing advice? I'm considering buying the first set of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood on blu-ray. My tastes are pretty shojo/slice of life heavy, but I'm fine with something that's action-y as long as it's not really corny or boring. I've heard lots of good things about it but I've also heard lots of good things about lots of bad shows, so help me, please?

You can actually watch it on Funimation's channel atm: http://www.youtube.com/show?p=cfjHtZ1gVmw&tracker=show_av

Watch the first few episodes and see if it's worth purchasing. I think the show is very enjoyable though.

It's not boring, but it can get corny here and there. At its core, it is still a standard shounen. Despite being very well executed, it would probably be pretty hit or miss for you. I think Funimation has some episodes on their site, so maybe check out the first few before committing to a purchase.

I love the show to death, really the only non piece of crap BONES has made in recent times, would recommend watching the first couple of episodes though.

It might just be a tad bit overrated though, like your overpaid waifu.

Well, that was a foolish move. I mean, I've seen people discuss pirating goods, but that's taking the serious biscuit. Why won't people ever read the rules?

Wait, it's not a good idea to post a picture showing all your pirated anime? MIND BLOWN.

The first couple of eps are pretty rushed given they were already covered in the original series but overall it's definitely worth watching.

Why not, you know..give the tv serise it's based on a try, since it's a lot better then the movie (especially the later arcs).

Kinda hard to percieve the allusions, not having seen most of the Type-Moon anime, entertaining anyway.
