Is there a count on how many new Utnea watchers we got this year? Seems like we got a ton of people to take the plunge.

I was planning to watch it before pdrum airs, never got round to it but after watching pdrum which was awful am not so sure if I should watch it.

^^^Utena should be required watching for every animu fan.
They would go something like this:

Episode 1: Utena walked up a flight of stairs to fight somebody. An elevator went up while people talked over the animation.

Episode 2: Utena walked up a flight of stairs to fight somebody. An elevator went up while people talked over the animation.

Episode 3: Utena walked up a flight of stairs to fight somebody. An elevator went up while people talked over the animation.

Episode 4: Utena walked up a flight of stairs to fight somebody. An elevator went up while people talked over the animation.

Episode 5: Utena walked up a flight of stairs to fight somebody. An elevator went up while people talked over the animation.

etc. etc.
My impressions may not always be insightful or fun, but I'm pretty sure I didn't do that when I was watching it.
So you went tsun for Utena?
Stop putting words in my mouth. I only have eyes for Nanami.

I watched this since it seems it was safe to jump back in. It was a nice return to form after all the previous shit we had to suffer through. And in any case, with just a couple of episodes left I see no reason not to finish it.

After my finals I'm gonna catch up on Penguins then I will watch Utena on my break. I'm a believer of Ikuhara now.

Hurrdurr is quite different from Utena. For one thing, the only animation which is ever re-used in Hurrdurr is the "Rock Over Japan" sequence. Which isn't even re-used that often.

Everything is tsundere to me
Are we talking K-On? KyoAni also hasn't made a new FMP or Lucky Star. Its not like they have a record of reneging.

Lucky Star ended with them graduating high school, and FMP isn't popular enough. K-ON is getting continuation and is extremely popular. I would be amazed if it's at least not explored.

After I finish this sub-arc I will. I don't want to be too verbose, but i'll just kinda do some short impressions with an image or two per episode.

What blew your mind? How much an anime director's skills can deteriorate over a really long layoff?
Would I be called crazy if I said Penguindrum shows Ikuhara as a more mature and self-restrained storyteller than Utena? They are two very different shows, but it seems to me that the former shines through very different facets of his directiong (read tone-handling).

Wait, wha? FMP is not popular? Are you serious?

And if your excuse for Lucky Star is that they graduated, then spoiler alert they graduated in K-On too.

Horizon 11

Geocentrism and heliocentrism? Those are fuckawesome abilities. Like a focused form of teleportation. Could do some really crazy tactical battles with that shit. Too bad it was over so quickly even if it did look cool.

And Tori finally does something. I kind of spoiled myself on the thing, but that doesn't change the fact
being sad even a little will kill you
with the power of The Impossible massively sucks. Dude has balls to intentionally take on an ability like that.

These last few episodes have been fantastic. The usage of characters on both sides have been quite good. Seeing a well executed rescue/war arc is not something I expected when this show started. This definitely has the potential to have the strongest finish among the fall season shows.

Also, I don't know what this is, but I want to read it:

Wait, it's not a good idea to post a picture showing all your pirated anime? MIND BLOWN.

Hey, there's a difference between someone implying piracy vs. posting a picture clearly showing all your pirated stuff. I haven't seen anyone go quite that far yet!

Bow down to your KyoAni overlords
K-On movie came in 4th this week in the box office taking in 190 million yen, just below Real Steel and above the big budget Genji Monogatari movie.

K-On movie has now made over 500 million yen since release with an additional 280 million in movie related merchandise.

As comparison, it has beaten Eva 1.0 for opening and 2nd week.

But Shinji is so moe!

I guess that proves that Evangelion is niche nerd crap while K-On is for the masses.

I like her.

This certainly proves that the majority of them are boring characters who often display little characterisation (regardless of the internal opinions) and are therefore hard to like or even remember. I guess Rei would be a counter-point, considering her huge and lasting popularity, but I suppose otaku just like women who don't have any kind of will of their own.
WENLI WAS ROBBED.

ROBBED.

RACISTS.

CHINAMAN CAN'T CATCH A BREAK HUH?
Autocracy >>>> Democracy confirmed.

I can't help agree. Democracy just takes too long to do anything fun.

I hate how almost all the shows I watch are released around the same time, it ends up that I don't talk about all of them. I did watch the new Mirai Nikki though and I like what they did. I've only read the main manga and not the side stories so the bits with 9 were fresh for me and it was fun seeing her with the cop.

It provided some validation for their relationship. When that scene where he proposed came up in the comic was confused as hell.

Definitely the best part right there.

Exactly, and look how tedious it really is! Weeks and weeks of voting, ugh.
Clearly, we need a dictator to decide saimale without all this fuss and muss.

Naturally, I nominate myself.

Oh man.

I got back to Bleach and for the past few days I've went from 260 to 280 and it's just sooo addicting (minus the fillers of course). This is like when I first watched the show!

You guys would probably just give the award to Gintoki immediately or something like that.
I don't even watch Gintama.

All shounen-shit is automatically disqualified for being shounenshit.

So we're democratically electing our moe dictator?
A dictatorship approved by the majority is the most powerful dictatorship of all.
How about pirates? And spaceships?
I will pour funding into NASA on space miniskirts R&D.

Somalia can go fuck itself.

What about the episodes without fights? Suddenly your guide becomes useless!
So we're democratically electing our moe dictator?

Plenty of dictators have been democratically elected!

Personally I don't think Jex is the most capable moetator for this kinda contest. We need someone who is steeped in moeology. Haly seems somewhat adequate, but someone who eats, breathes, and sleeps in moe might be better suited for the task.

A vote for Jexhius is a vote for the death of moé.

Let us revolutionise AnimeGAF!

Obviously, I would appoint a Secretary of Moe.

A dictator must be balanced, he can leave specialization to his subordinates.

So you want cajunator to be moe dictator?

I'll vote for firehawk before I vote for him.
