Halo: Reach |OT7| What are They to Say Now?

Hard surface work in Zbrush 4r2 is actually very straight forward and simple. There's a couple Eat 3D videos that explain a great workflow that you can buy. Still, comparing Zbrush hard-surface to traditional hard-surface done in Maya and 3DS Max is like comparing apples to oranges. They are completely separate workflows and usually yield very different looking results.

Also, to DcLevartho, are the shoulder pads a different subtool? Or is this just a dynamesh type sketch thing? It looks like they are connected to the torso right now. Are you going to build a low-poly mesh and bake down? What type of presentation are you going for? I'm sorry if these questions have already been answered.

It is very simple, and the tutorials in question were done by someone who is growing to be something huge in this industry with his innovative techniques, I was introdroduced to him a few years back when he was trying to do hard surface work in Zbrush 3. He's a great guy, his name is Mike Jensen and you can see an example of his new work here ( http://mikejensen.deviantart.com/#/d4jjb9j ). His work is on par with what Grant Warwick and Vitaly Bulgarov were doing with hard surface work, and his way is so much more efficient.

The shoulder pads are the same dynamesh as the torso, the workflow works as such:

- Base sculpt in Dynamesh
- Re-topo and adaptive skin to break up that mesh
- Using the crease tool to strengthen edges much like adding edge loops in other software (very fast process)
- Sub-d the model
- Bring back into dynamesh for further detailing
- Decimate mesh for rigging and texturing as well as reprojecting all of the detail on the lower poly mesh to allow sub-d levels


This model is going to be a bust, so the detail is going to have to be through the roof for that kind of closeup, it'll be a challenge but that is the fun.

Yea the problem is people are having trouble with the thread title and reading comprehension. This isn't Halo 4 thread. Trust me I have reread the title several times. It in fact says Halo Reach. So every post about Halo 4 which is MONTHS away is just not constructive at all.

We have to discuss Halo Reach which is still out and being played and is the current Halo.

Also we need to play this game. Discussion of bad games like Assassins Creed doesn't help much either, its not even an FPS. Lets get real here.

So discuss playlist fixes, post some clips or screenshots, get on to dong. Things of that nature. We can talk about Halo 4 when theres some solid stuff out and when its the Halo 4 thread.

I have no idea what I'm doing in this game at all, but at the end of an 8vs8 game just now, the credit roller thing randomly rolled in the thousands instead of in the hundreds. Is there any rule to when this happens?

Jackpots (up to 6000), Super Jackpots (15,000+), and Challenges. They buff up your normal end of game tally.

A typical 8v8 game usually nets me 7-8000~ cR with any of the above bonuses.

I knew about challenges, but is there any rule to when any of the jackpots come into play? Loading screens tell me it's for not quitting games, but is there a formula? Just curious.

Jackpots - random. You only get them for finishing a full game.
Super Jackpots - same as above but rarer and can only be obtained once per day, limited to certain playlists during weekends. These are usually announced by 343i.

I have three variants I'd like to test, Hemmorhage Heavy, Spire Heavy and Breakpoint Heavy.

I have done some changes after my first playtest so it'd be sweet to try them out, my favorite one is Hemmorhage Heavy.

Heavy variants? So more Scorpions, lasers, and fuel rod guns?

Heavies was the best thing about Halo 3. Now you couple guass hogs, scorpions, triple the banshees, more snipers and rockets along with jetpacks and armor lock and you have the perfect Halo recipe! How could you not like this?
