Head games?

It's just hit me that I'll be able to do this.I just am excited to be able to play full console games in bed at night.
That'll be awesome.
You are working with Scratch? I need to do an assignment for university xDUnngh my new desktop:
I am truly excited for the possibilities of what first-party titles will look like, but I don't carry the same excitement for third party titles. Hopefully they will look graphically more significant than their Xbox and Ps3 counterparts.
Nintendo should make a commercial about the very situation.
Like the Mario Kart DS advert?
And yeah, the headphone jack will be awesome.

The controller will not cost $150...
My bet is $99 or $129. If Nintendo could make it cheaper than that they could just throw in an ARM chip and become the world's lowest cost tablet manufacturer.
I must say, I am quite compelled by the idea of some bedtime MW3. Wonder is I will need to position the Wii U to the center of my flat.
I'm with you on this. I think Nintendo went pretty hard out for this demo. It might run smoother and at 1080 but that's it. It looked gorgeous!Something tells me we won't see a jump as big jump from the Wii-U tech demo as we did from the N64 and Gamecube demos, in fact I think it'll look pretty close to the demo itself (as it is already damn impressive, lighting is marvelous).
I mean that tech demo was developed on an early devkit so what's to say the final version won't look much better.

I wonder what kit Nintendo used for CES? I could be on crack here but just watching people demo the game it seemed the framerate was better than E3. I couldn't see any drops in the demos I saw. I may be seeing wrong and remembering the original wrong though.
Isn't that still being decided? I'm sure I read somewhere that developers are reporting Nintendo is looking into supporting multiple tablets for some games. That aside, Nintendo is not going to want to be the single point of support for these tablets throughout the next gen. If someone's tablet shorts out then sure, that's a warranty issue but Nintendo isn't going to want to deal with every person who accidentally steps on their's because they left it on the floor. That's where retail comes in.
Miyamoto said:Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system. If we got to an idea of having multiple, it might be just more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that. That being said, we are doing research about if someone brings their controller to their friends house and they want to play together on Wii U to whether or not something like that would be possible.
Iwata said:What I can say is that we are also thinking, as you imagined, that with one console you would get one of the new controllers as a complete set. As I am sure you can imagine, the cost of the new Wii U controller will exceed the cost of a standard controller up until now. Regardless of the technical question as to whether or not we could do that (use two of the new controllers), for the time being, we will focus on what we can do with a single new controller with the system.
Typically you double or triple BOM to get to retail price, so that'd be around $100-$150 retail price.

Another Super Mario 3D Land commercial featuring Japanese actress and Oppai Volleyball star Haruka Ayase, playing video games in bed and eating a clementine.
In November one gaming site, Develop, published a rumor that the Wii-U SDK had calls supporting a second controller, and that "they know how important it is to make it technically feasible to support two screens, even if that affects framerate". That is the current state of the controller.
For comparison, here are the iPad BOMs
Are the screens really THAT expensive?
I mean my 13" 1366x768 sub-notebook with ULV-Intel i5 and 4GB RAM was 300€, ok without Touchscreen but I can't believe that it makes 120 bucks! And why is the iPad2 screen 50% more expensive? They are the same size, same res and same tech IIRC.
Really? Is that confirmed? If so, then I am a happy man.Exact same one as was at E3.
that zelda screen looks really cartoony, i hope they make it look more like real life.
We basically know that it'll come with at least one game from a AAA Nintendo franchise, because the 3DS didn't, and Nintendo blames the 3DS's launch problems on that, and said they learned their lesson. They relied too much on third-party launch titles selling the system, and it didn't work. So I'd say a New Super Mario Bros. title is a sure bet for launch day.Because I'm a big Nintendo nerd: Wii U = Day one. I'm excited that we're having another Nintendo hardware (console!) launch. Its gonna be good.
What I'm wanting to know is what kind of launch title can we expect for it? I know its not likely to happen but if we can get New Super Mario Bros Mii day one, that would be the ultimate Nintendo launch title for me. A launch Mario title....that hasn't happened since N64.
Couple that with a new Wii Sports pack-in title and it'll be perfect enough for me. Add Pikmin 3 and I'll take a whole week off of work to enjoy the hell out of it!

I'm not sure if I can survive another few months until E3.
Hope they have some announcements at GDC.
NSMBM? Personally I only bring out NSMBW when friends are over, and haven't really played it single player. It'd certainly be one of the first party games I'd get for the U, but not something I'm really looking forward to.What I'm wanting to know is what kind of launch title can we expect for it? Nintendo Ninjas.0_0 that's ages away
EDIT: How has Ubisoft not leaked anything at all yet
Nintendo Ninjas.

I'd be seriously disappointing if NSMB was the AAA nintendo launch game. I really didn't like any of those games.
It's not that they're bad, but it's just they're not at the top of the list of "Nintendo Games I want to see in HD".
Chances of that happening are zero though.Unless they completely revamp the graphics engine and give us something like Galaxy on Dolphin...

Super Meat Boy isn't a multiplayer game. That adds a level of complexity that even Team Meat decided not to try.
So yes, I'm suggesting that doing what you want may very well be harder than you think. And I think that says more about your opinion of Team Meat. They're fantastically good game designers in any context.
I'm not suggesting it's impossible for Nintendo to pull this off, but I think you're underestimating the challenge involved in doing it. Nintendo is a conservative company, always has been. What I'm saying isn't so much "I hope they don't do this;" it's more like, "I don't think they will do this because of X,Y, and Z."
Adding online multiplayer to Mario would do 100x more for the game with the crowd you mention than having diverse Mushroom Kingdom characters would. If the 'hardcore' actually cared so much about Mario titles, they'd already be buying them - Miis or no. Mario isn't the key to getting support from the dudebro types; online and third parties are.
Pretty sure Miis will go over better with the younger members of my family, to be honest, and it's the sort of thing their parents and grandparents will have fun watching. "Oh, look at Riley!" as she's hovering over everyone else in a bubble. Which was one of the major keys to the success of the Wii in the first place. So I think Miis are a very good choice from a marketing standpoint.
Personally? If I were going to play the game with just my traditional gaming friends? The extra nuance might be nice. But I doubt my scope of players is going to be so focused.
*shrugs*
In the end, I'm pretty indifferent. As long as I'm having fun, I don't much care how that is achieved.
