McFarlane toys suck. The Halo figures I have suck. They look kinda odd, they are frail, and they have poor articulation.

For how long have you been reading HaloGAF?
Eons.
Since the Reach Beta thread

That's when I started lurking too. My first account attempt waited 1 full year and was activated. Then I edited my email address and it went back into waiting (Grrrrrr), so I tried again and that account was activated in 1 day. GAF activations are so weird. Do they just pull from a hat? Its obviously not by date.

Ah good, I seriously didn't get that it was a joke. Didn't expect that from you :p

I don't believe he meant it as a joke, but whatever. ;)

In all media, only true fans who consume every book, film, game, or pog collection deserve to know what's going on.
I'll be flat out honest, I don't even care enough about this game anymore to call out, I'm just so over the game, I log on to shoot some guys, and then log off for another month+.

To say that a good group of plays can't break maps with jetpacks, like they did last night is laughable though. Anytime we'd get control of middle you'd here about 3-4 jetpacks lifting up over the rings, it's retarded and goes against everything I've ever loved about Halo.

Ive been at that stage with Reach for a long time. I love playing with Gaf to chill with gaffers but when it comes to actually playing the game its like my brains totally turned off, I just cant be bothered to put the effort in. Its the oddest thing ever. its like im on autopilot. Reach as a competitive game is a total turn off though, I think I have more fun doing wacky stuff. If I was playing and putting in effort the game would just annoy me.

343 certainly sounds like a character we havent seen the end of yet and after the recent books thats just awesome.

eww. Reach sniping is really boring. Camo guy must have been suprised though!

I expect something between Halo 2 and 3 in terms of maneuverability along with sprint. If the AA's return(they will in some form, believe) they'll more likely be pickups.

Halo 4 can play however......... as long as there's sprint :p

You have to excuse people for not wanting to wade through the crap to see an actual news post in here.
We lived with this crap for about 1 year. There will be no Halo 4 news tomorrow. People have to learn to deal with the crap.

Btw. It feels good to post in a Halo thread again which Ghal posted. I felt very uneasy in the last one. It felt like if I had cheated Ghaleon with Dax. And that is a very disgusting thought.

That's precisely nothing..

Stupid waypoint why can't it properly load on my cellphone when linked to, just takes me to an endless windows live login loop and eventually gives me an error.

yeah there's no way 4 won't have everything Reach had.... plus more. This is HALO 4.

You really are mad.

Oh damn hey Overdoziz! Great first post lol.

Did you just compliment him on his first post twice within 5 posts? Wtf

Please no. Sprint is just as disruptive to the design of a classic Halo game as the rest of the abilities in Reach.
Who are you and what have you done to the real noobs.

If Twisted Metal can do it you can too 343. Give us matchmaking and server browser for Halo 4 damn it. Also it's interesting to see the things they're doing in the game though. I'd say they looked at great games and really are doing online right.

Wait, people still read this thread?
I appreciate when people repost news so I don't miss them because I skip chunks of halogaf, for example when I notice it's gonna a huge series of two word posts related to a customs inside meme by some sub-section of Halogaf. Once you see it start you know the following 24 posts will be the rest of group chiming in on the joke or whatever.

Holy shit. Reading this post invokes the same feeling of (aroused) confusion as looking at that no-makeup pic of Snooki in that Offtopic thread. Unless you're being sarcastic?

edit-

Just realized Tashi hasn't touched the new thread yet.

I edited it into my last post but wanted to give Over the sup he deserves, everyone would have prob skimmed past my post before I finished editing it lol.

Gui ive noticed a smell around you aswell. :(

Who says Halo 4 will be going for the classic feel of a Halo game? I'd expect a mishmash of old and new.

Besides, why not have the capabilities that are written in the books about the Spartans actually translate to gameplay?

Yep I felt that way in Reach's campaign. I hope 4 gives me that feeling again 10 fold.

Busy braiding his neck beard.

I pitched an idea a long time ago in one of the Halo 2 threads...if they were ever going to try and achieve the Spartans from the books, I feel it would be better done in 3rd person, I always wanted to see Bungie do for 3rd person games what they'd done for 1st person on consoles anyways. I think Unreal Championship 2 kind of touched on the idea of what I had in mind.

3rd person would literally be distancing players from the character and role of Master Chief though. The books detail how the Spartans had all of this information relayed to them via their HUD and that will go out of the window in a 3rd person viewpoint. You are seeing the information on screen as the Chief sees it. I always hoped for more Metroid-esque HUD displays, partiularly the very slight reflections off of he visor.

I think Halo 4 needs to remain 1st person though. Let side-stories and other Halo games experiment as well as Halo Wars did but save the core Halo game as an FPS.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the story-telling is handled in 4. Unfortunately I'm taking forever to finish Anniversary, I don't get around to playing it too often. I'm enjoying it a lot though. I find myself missing the "Halo feel" somehow. I liked Reach's campaign, but I'm definitely missing me some Chief.

And c'mon guys, are some of you really just going to keep complaining about this thread? What makes no sense to me is the people who keep saying that this thread isn't worth reading, KEEP posting about it. If anything, that just adds to the stuff that's not worth reading?

On a lesser note, hello Overdoziz :p I'll be playing later if anyone's on anyway.

I'd be very happy if they successfully married some of Prime with Halo.
Felt like MP1 carried the isolated exploration aspect that C.E. had further.

I'm very greedy when it comes to Halo. I want it to do have the best of everything from different games.
I'll probably get 9 levels of fairly typical Halo with a better narrative. Which is "good" but will not sate my hunger for what I feel Halo's potential is.

I do feel it's become so prevalent that it's a new step for the HaloGAF cycle.

Yeah, those regular, large, detailed playlist updates and dialog on Optimatch were figments of our imagination. So was the Noble Map Pack. And the website that's still in operation to this day. What a dream!

and what they missed is the bigger issue, once the contract came into talks wit Activision this became the bastard game of the series. No TU, no good maps (Noble Pack is mediocre at best), etc. Everything about this games comes off mediocre after some time thinking about it. Bungie put too much on AA and Forge World and it back fired, but there really isn't any reason to bring it up now. It's been beaten to death.

(I commend 343 for what they actually done with what little they had in Reach, can't wait for Halo 4)

343 Industries: Halo 4 will "re-inject some new life" into Halo multiplayer.

Waking up and realizing that it's 2012 — or in Master Chief's case, 2553 — is a joyous occasion if for no other reason than it means one thing: Halo 4 will be out this year. We sat down with 343 Industries Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor to get an update.

On how much focus Halo: CE Anniversary took away from Halo 4:
“Out of 200-plus people working at our studio, roughly 200 are working on Halo 4.”

On whether they will collaborate again with Certain Affinity, the studio founded by former Halo 2 lead multiplayer designer Max Hoberman:

“Certain Affinity will absolutely be working with us again. They’re a part of our family.”

Clarifying whether or not that means Certain Affinity will be doing multiplayer maps for Halo 4:
“We are definitely building Halo 4 multiplayer stuff in-house, [but] would we consider working with [them] on that stuff? Of course. They’ve done some of the best maps for everything since Halo 2.”

On whether or not they’ve been fighting an uphill battle with fans simply because they’re not Bungie:
“When people see what we’ve been able to achieve technologically, and how both careful and ambitious we’ve been with the gameplay — those things sound contradictory but they’re not — I think they’ll become more and more confident [in us].”

On whether or not any of the new engine technology from Anniversary will make its way into Halo 4:
“The technology in Halo: CE Anniversary is really cool, but it has nothing to do with the technology that [the Halo 4 team] is working on.”

On just how different Halo 4 will be from Bungie’s games:

“The core of what’s going to make Halo 4 great is some of the universe building and gameplay creation that Bungie seeded way back in Halo: CE.”

On where changes might be most visible:

“Now is the time when we really need to do something fresh and new and re-inject some new life…at least in multiplayer.”

On how lost you’ll be, storywise, if you play Halo 4 without having ever played Halo before:

“If Halo 4 is your first [Halo] game, that’s fine — don’t worry about it.”

Permanent jetpack loadouts confirmed.
Pro-pipe as starter weapon confirmed. Especially after that brilliant pro-pipe kill by him.

I'm looking forward to read a lot of amazing opinion about the Halo 4 multiplayer. 343i's developers have a big burden on their shoulders, I hope they can do it. I beli343 in you, 343i.

“Now is the time when we really need to do something fresh and new and re-inject some new life…at least in multiplayer."
The Lost cliffhanger music just played in my head.

Consider me very intrigued in a good way.

I'd be very interested in getting one of these if I ever get a PS3 again, I much prefer the Xbox-style analogue layout. I did have a Power A Pro Elite Xbox-style controller when I had my PS3 but the dead zone around the sticks was huuuuuuge.

I've been quite interested in getting the Onza for the 360, purely so I can remap weapon zoom to the additional left bumper button - so many times in heated encounters I accidentally mash the zoom button on the thumbstick!
As someone who's been using the Onza for a while, don't get one.

Just to chime in on the controller talk, I would recommend holding off on the MLG controller for a little bit and see if any performance issues arise in the long term. The honeymoon period might be great but you never know if something will crap out in like 2 months. Let other people be your lab rats first, especially on a $100 controller.

I've been using a Razer Onza since May of last year and I'm done, going back to the default 360 controller. Last night I noticed my controller out of no where likes to drag the right stick down without any input. I'll be looking left to right and suddenly my view will start to go down. Unacceptable for a controller touted to be used by the hardcore gamer. This is my third controller (second replacement after I bought the first and both of those had problems too) and enough is enough. I should have listened to GAF when people said Razer products were very poorly built. It really is too bad since I love the features on the Onza but when it comes to reliability you can always count on official controllers even if they don't have all the bells and whistles.

The worst part of that situation is that I've been using a control scheme the entire time that can only work on the Onza because of the extra mappable bumpers. Going back to the default 360 controller I've realized that my muscle memory is completely fucked.
It won't last and you'll be handicapping yourself when it eventually craps out. I'm having to relearn how to play Reach right now because of my old control scheme...
