You just have a different tolerance level. The frame rate is really unstable. It goes down as soon as enemies appear.

Hurray for tolerance levels then :D

but yeah I would wait and see how the 360 version is. Wasnt the 360 version of Dark Souls also better with Blight Town? (granted not much better but still)

Unstable is not terrible. It might dip a little bit but it's not going single digits or anything.

Game was fun though I really like boost jumping up walls even though I'm not doing anything really. Simple joys for simple people! Should be a good time online. The game seems to advanced light years in terms of presenting good environments to fight in. The areas were really small in AC 4 especially; that improved in From Answer and it seems to be even better here.

Being able to use the garage on missions will be a godsend for the campaign. Though I'm sure they'll work to make sure that doesn't make it too easy for you. :p

Played the demo, what a piece of crap. Removed from pre-order list. Why the hell can't they get the game happening on a decent engine.

I just played the demo on the PS3. I thought there was some slight exaggeration on the frame rate before playing, but sweet mother of God, it gets horrendous when there is more than two enemies on screen. This is like Blight Town bad. After coming off of the silky smooth Gundam Extreme Vs, these kind of frame-rate drops are absolutely unacceptable.

The sad thing is that everything else at least works (or has the potential to work); the controls are pretty good, the environments are actually pretty loaded as opposed to extremely sparse like in other AC games, and stuff like that. But I would rather the game not turn into a power-point slideshow when I'm fighting multiple enemies.

That doesn't sound good. :\ Hopefully the demo is an old build.

Dammit From, fix the framerate :(

This was one of my most wanted games of 2012...
From Software probably just shouldn't do multi-platform releases, but then they probably wouldn't have a contract with Namco Bandai if they did. If only Sony didn't backstab them....

Dat PSone graphics. Hopefully the 360 version looks a bit better. The city level is kind of a mess graphically on PS3 from what I played. Not just talking about the framerate (which is indeed pretty bad). Maybe my memory is poor but I don't remember For Answer ever looking this flat, blocky, or messy. I will definitely be waiting for the price to come down.

They piled on the post processing so it has a grittier look, For Answer is cleaner but has almost no textures, it's a really simple look. I think the tighter, more urban environments necessitates the use of more detailed textures/effects but unfortunately it's chugging a bit. Praying for a better retail framerate here, because the game itself is awesome.

Did anyone try the 360 demo?

Still not seeing it on the japanese xbox marketplace. I wouldn't be able to download it if it was Gold only anyways, since I used up all my trial accounts.

Used to be able to burn 360 demos to a CD/DVD and play them like that, dunno if it still works.

You must have had a hell of a PS1.

sad to hear about the framerates, it is pretty much expected, that's why Fromsoft can't be taken seriously sometimes. It's still on my pre-order list as i'm a sucker for mecha games. AC:FA has had shitty frames, but only when the buildings crumble, missile swarms and dust particles shows up, during VS the framerate remains acceptable.

sometimes i wonder how they play test the games they make, the blighttown framerates was so damn horrible i question their judgement in letting that pass by.

Even though I played AC:FA on 360, its slowdown really pales in comparison to some of the slowdown seen in AC5. Even FA moments like huge Arms Forts or multiple enemies + missiles are not really as bad as in V; FA just kinda slows down, V just gets Blight Town-esque choppy.

It's up, I got it 12+ hours ago. I used to love AC (played every game on the PS1 and PS2) but it's terrible now as far as I'm concerned. Played 4 recently for the first time and it was really really bad. The amount of progress the series has made since it first came out compared to what is the industry norm is pitiful. I shouldn't be surprised, it took From forever to implement dual analog controls.

were you playing online when the slow downs happened? it seems to remind me of the same exact effect i was experiencing during Dark Soul's first few weeks, during online, the game just slows down due to the unstable connection to the servers, sometimes even causing complete lock downs.

No, this was jut during single player sessions (I probably added some confusion by using slowdown and "framerate drop" equivocally in the prior post). Dark Souls online slowdown has happened for me in the way that you described, though. I wonder if ACV will have the same issue online, actually, even when combined with the framerate issues by the engine itself.

I constantly keep seeking these games and then I'm disappointed when I play them.

Yeah, its a shame that for better or for worse, From Software is the only place to get customizable mech games like this these days.

man.. going in with very low expectations now.

I picked up Last Raven last august- first AC game. Man, it was a totally different experience from anything I'd ever played. Granted, I come from a limited palette due to tastes and wallet size.

In my gaming experience, there's nothing like the thrum of my Pixie3 loading hot, slow death into an opponent. And then when you finally take down some cheap son of a gun, who's murdered you tons of times, with a machine you've built, tweaked, painted, and named all on your own? Oh yeah.

Is there an AC OT? I wanna trade war stories.

Most of the designs are rather meh though. Sure, you have the occasional White Glint, but most of the designs are either by Shoji Kawamori phoning it in or someone lesser.

I personally welcome the new changes, the designs this time are all done in house, the gritty, boxy, pratical designs are a good/often ballsy attempt at being distinguishing itself from the generic mecha designs nowadays (gundams).

the weaponry designs are just really out of this world, if you watched the overweapon live stream you'll know what i mean.

haha there was a AC:FA OT back then, but i think the AC series hasn't been that popular here on gaf.
I still remember MGs being pretty broken in Silent Line and AC3, it was nerfed so much in LR but still a viable weapon for long missions. I switched over to Energy weapons in LR, so good.

Since 60fps are just wishful thinking, a mere steady 30fps would be acceptable. But besides that big no-no I like what I see, boosting just never gets old.

Any reports on the 360 version yet? Again if someone wants to make a dummy JP account that would be pretty cool of them :D

normally i'd be like lol from software game has shitty framerate no duh, but in this case it's definitely a problem for game of this nature.

fingers crossed.

The game doesn't look very good really to have performance this poor. frame rate is such joke for a game like this :(

If someone here has a JP gold account please download and put the files online for us to download. There are a lot of tutorials online on how to do it :)

If you do find someone putting up a disc, can you please mention it in this thread? I'd like to keep on top of this but unfortunately will be unable to keep up with this stuff tonight. :(

Will do! Though i am sure some gaffer here would be kind enough to make a dummy account or extract the files to their HDD and upload them somewhere.

Looking for meaning in GAF
Heard a lot about Armored Core. Looking forward to trying it with this!
"A quick trigger finger and razor-sharp reflexes won't always turn the tide of battle in ARMORED CORE V," said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing, NAMCO BANDAI Games America, "sometimes it will be that ridiculously overpowered weapon or item that you got for preordering the game from your local Gamestop®."
...fuck.

Two Missions and Today (21st in JP) till Tomorrow (22nd in JP) you can play online and anytime after that you can create squads and set up your mech.

I can't get this to work. Am I missing something?

Anyway the music in this game is godly. Garage is so good, just idle in there.

Yikes. That walking animation is pretty awful too.

Edit: I guess we'll find out on the 26th if the retail build is just as bad.

Aww fuck. I don't think I can put up with that framerate. I will pick up the 360 version when it goes on sale. I don't think I would ever consider the PS3 version with even worse framerate.

Doesn't bode well.

All this talk of AC...my favourite of the series was the oddball, Formula Front. Probably my most-played PSP game. So intricate, so wonderful! So many hours of coffee and AI mech-battling antics with a friend. We had some serious designs in our stables. Trying to figure out ways around his AI programming was incredibly rewarding.

From Software aren't the greatest with framerate lately are they? between this and dark souls. Still probably going to get it though... I love mechs.
