Another angle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz707r9mEyk&feature=player_detailpage#t=227s

High hit? Concussion? There was zero contact with his head. If Horton is suddenly that sensitive to hits, I'd fear for his future.

Agreed that it was late and Horton was vulnerable, though. Not sure what the precedent is with hits like that which don't target the head.

I'd say both angle's are inconclusive. I chose the second replay because of the weird way his helmet snaps sideways. I think that is indicative of contact with part of his head even if it wasn't a clean headshot.

Am I concerned about his future? yep. He just seemed to be getting over the last concussion and playing with a little more aggression. The team has termed it a mild concussion so hopefully its just a minor setback.

Do we even know if Tim cares about his wife's thoughts on the names? I'm not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here...everything I've read about the guy seems to indicate that he's a straight up cave man.
I heard his wife was pregnant with a fourth child that he didn't want because it would ruin 'KKK'. But because he's pro life he insisted she carry it to term before he dumped it off Cape Cod.

Looks like minor whiplash to me. Your head won't remain still when you suddenly come to a stop. But yeah, can't be sure.

Nobody else wants to see a big hit on Lidstrom?

I don't say this much, but you are an idiot. Why do you want to see a player like Lidstrom, I mean a huge class act of a guy and one of the best defense men to play the game, get knocked out with a huge hit. You won't last long here with that attitude my friend.

Maybe ''clocked'' was the wrong word, I meant more like Ovechkin on Jagr D:

Although I don't really care what an athlete's beliefs, morals, or whatever may be (that's not why I cheer for them), I'm pretty disappointed in Thomas. For someone that's always come across as such a nice guy, this was a real asshole move. He knew exactly what the result of this would be — should've just sucked it up and gone if he really wasn't trying to make a statement (that's hogwash). His teammates probably don't care, as I'm sure some of him are familiar with his view and it probably won't have an effect on the ice, but I can't imagine that the organization is happy.

I'm very interested in seeing how the fanbase responds to this in the long run. Rask as the new darling? I'm also interested in seeing how the fans in Washington react tomorrow, but I doubt Thomas will get the start anyway.

So Stewart feels he has to stick up for his teammate when he got hit with a clean hit? Ok I guess.......

Dumb move by Stewart for sure, Stuart didn't even want to fight at the beginning it seems too.

It looked like a blatant elbow at first so from the ice, maybe they thought it was worse than it was.

This isn't the first time it has happened in the NHL.

I know, it is though one of the few times that a fight isn't needed, it is just a dumb move by Stewart.

But any ways, bad first by Detroit outside a few opportunities, Wings let the Blues walk over them at points when they easily have the skill to not let them do it. I just hope their recent play (which hasn't been the best even though they have gotten wins through OT and SO no less) doesn't catch up to them this game and they can adjust and play a good solid 40 minutes. Need to score on this PP though when the 2nd starts up.

Whoa, Lidstrom just broke his stick over Halak's face and then speared him in the chest with the remaining stick handle. Somebody needs to clock him.

Stuart didn't have a chance since his jersey was pulled over his head and arms before the first swing of the fight was thrown.

Detroit never adjusts. The way they play in the first is how they play the whole game. Well, unless it's one of those games where they decide to stop trying.

I'm just getting really sick of clean hits being immediately challenged by the other team with a fight. It's such a bullshit and pussy move. If it was a DIRTY hit, then yeah fine, go after the guy. But clean hits that don't injure anyone should just be let go and keep the game going. Get back at the guy by hitting him later in the game with a clean hit or something. What Chris Stewart did was fucking cowardly in my eyes. Brad Stuart is not a fighter or a dirty player.

Ugh these are the type of games I hate, dominate most of the game but still only up 1 goal.

Leafs have lacked finish for a while now. :(

Shocking number of jets fans in Raleigh, by which I mean any.

Boring game, I'm committing adultery with the Blues/Wings game every few minutes.

Boston fan's will only bring this up if Thomas starts sucking. My guess is Thomas uses the backlash as motivation to play better. He's always been an us against the world type.

Wait, Nick Johnson is going to be in the All-Star Game now? The same Nick Johnson who we sent down and was claimed on waivers by the Wild earlier this year? The fuck?

Leafs/Capitals

More Leafs though.

The second coming!
