So I'm already close to filling up my 8gig memory card. I'm going to be investing in a 32gb pretty soon. What I was wondering though was if I could transfer all the stuff from my 8gb to my 32gb when I eventually got it. I don't feel like going through the downloading/settings phase again.
I'm wondering the same thing...4GB card is practically nothing.

Anyone else find it a bit strange that you have to open friends app all the time to be online: ie so that your friends know that you are online? And if you want to send a MSG to them you have to open another app. Why can't you do it all through the same app?

It's not like the ps3 where you are signed into the PSN straight away.

Its something I hope they fix in the future. The Vita OS is still early, so there are many problems like this. I hope it evolves over time.

I think you can change settings where it'll tell everyone you're online when your Vita is on.

EDIT: Go to settings > system settings > auto-start > Update online status for PSN. That should do the trick.

GAF, I need help. I started with my main US account, then I switched to HK one to download demos, and back to US one.

I cannot use near, and cannot turn on location data. The system is giving me "The use of location data is not allowed due to parental controls". What parental controls!? I never set up anything like that before! How can I fix that?

Ok, I went around the problem by setting parental controls for myself... I don't understand why the system was set with some of them by default. Anyway, turned it off for Content and allowed everything else, hope I won't get any problems.

here for the new thread. Jumped in due to amazon's graciousness after much back and fourth. Wifi w 4gb being delivered tomorrow. Picked up hsg, lumines, little deviants and rhythm heaven fever today. My body is ready.

I heard it pops open if dropped.

like the fact you can put 8 games and 2 memory cards but if you drop the thing it pops open. i returned mine all ready. i bought this to have prior to my vita coming on the 22nd and was looking at it and i dropped it on a carpet floor and it popped open and my 2 games that i put in there with my memory card fell out and that was a warning sign. i then took the games and memory card out and continued to do test drops and 8 out of 10 times it popped open. now i don't have the unit so i don't know maybe the unit would stay in but i am not chancing that. horrible design, needed to be a zipper on it.

From Amazon.

Got my Vita yesterday with Uncharted which I played for a couple of hours yesterday. Awesome game, though I had some problems with the aiming at the start before I got the hang of the gyro aiming.

Bought MotorStorm RC from the PSN Store and will have WipeOut in the mail tomorrow.

Now for the problem I have: I pre-ordered mine and got the bonus kit with the headphones, some downloads and one game 50,- cheaper. Went to the web page, entered my email address, got the mail and clicked the link. Logged into my PSN account and selected Super Stardust Delta. On the following screen the text said that the code would be sent to ','. What I mean is that the email address was missing. And so far I haven't gotten any mail with a code to redeem to buy the discounted game. And I can't redo it because it just says my pre-order code has been used up.

Anyone else experienced this? Don't really know where to turn. The PSN homepage support section isn't very helpful.

Gyro aiming in Gravity Daze feels weird even after 9 hours of playtime. I look forward to my gyro aiming adventures in Uncharted this weekend.

Now that I've had a few hours with it, I have to say this thing is seriously awesome. Won't bother echoing all the praise for the hardware, but it's great, and between Wipeout, Lumines, Uncharted, Super Stardust, Hot Shots and others, I have a ton of crap to play. So, so, good.

I think you can change settings where it'll tell everyone you're online when your Vita is on.

In the auto start settings I have refresh live arena screen, update online status for ps network (which I ticked now), and also group messaging and near ticked to auto start automatically but they never turn on when I turn on my vita.

Also, until I watched a youtube a few days ago, I thought Lumines was pronounced "Loo-mines", not "Loo-mun-es". The more you know.

I don't remember if my address showed up but I s till haven't received the redeem code mail either. I don't know if this is something they're sending out in bulk at a specific date or what... but since the Vita is out I don't know why they wouldn't send it. A bit annoying to not know what's up.

Yep. Update online status for PSN is what you are looking for. Weird though it doesn't work the way it should be. The reason it's not like how PS3 works is because constant WIFI/3G will drain battery like no tomorrow.

On the Vita's PSN store, it lists UMVC3 under crossplay games, in addition to Hustle Kings.
How do you cross-play on UMVC3?? Or was it a mistake? I tried to play my brother, and couldn't figure it out.

Cross-play doesn't mean cross-platform online play. It means that stuff you buy for one device will be compatible with another. In this case, UMVC3 DLC is cross-play.

DLC for the PS3 version of UMVC3 works for Vita copies as well. That's all it has for crossplay besides using the Vita as a controller for the PS3 copy.

AFAIK you can use the Vita as a controller for UMvC3 on the PS3. Why you would do that, I'm not sure.

My two complaints: I wish the start button was a little easier to click. Sometimes I need to pause in the middle of a race or whatever, and it's kinda hard to mush it in when it's so small and off to the side. Also, the OS music is cool, but there should definitely be more tunes to choose from. I'm gonna get so tired of the default tune.

Why did it just take so long to delete the Unit 13 demo?

PS I dug the game

It likes the Vita as much as you do. :(

Agree on both counts. What would be awesome? If dynamic themes are introduced and they have their own music. BAM. PAY ME SONY!

If CFW makes it's way on to PSVita, this will be my first requested feature.

Got my Vita yesterday, after much doubt.

I like it, but there are two things that have been bugging me ever since turning it on:

1) It seems it doesn't keep you connected to PSN all the time (unless in an active party). Whenever I perform other actions and then return to my friends list, it ALWAYS has to sign back in... what's up with that?!

2) Click on 'Browser' to launch Browser... right? Or: Click on 'Friends' to see your Friends list, right? NO! You have to touch 'Start' for every fucking thing you want to do, which makes the UI annoying and cubersome to use. I really hope they'll add an option to disable this!

Bah, every time the vita goes in sleep mode (which is in 1 minute by default) It disconnects you from friends, so it has to reconnect every time you turn it back on.

Which motorstorm? Artic edge from PSP?

If that is the game that it is not compatible with vita as of now

EDIT: If you are talking about RC, then I have no idea . Sorry.

I can't download anything at all.

PSN no matter what I try says I can't download anymore, try again in a while. Its said this for the last 12 hours.

When first touching the System I was immediately worried about the analog sticks. They seem very touchy, and are aweful close to the buttons, but after some playtime I got used to them suprisingly fast. The placement doesn't really effect anything after you get used to your thumb touching it when you hit the X button and the analog sensitivity worked well for the games I played.

OK so down the list in order of first played.

Touch My Katamari: I love the artstyle of the game so I wanted to see the screen in action for the first time on that. Was not disappointed. The game itself seems like classic Katamari just like all the reviews have been saying. The wackyness is there, the wierd yet cool dialog is there, the extreme japanese origins show everywhere, and the music is peppy and catchy. I hope to get a lot of replay out if it in getting 5 stars everywhere, and it seems if I keep that goal I might be playing for a real long time. I haven't used the touch screen strechy mechanics much, but maybe thats why I'm not getting good rankings.

Biggest complaint is the turn katamari into a star animation is unskipable. Its a really cool animation, but I don't need to see it every single time I retry a stage.

Escape Plan: OK maybe this wasn't the best choice for number two, because I really didn't care for what little I played. It feels extremely gimmicky with way too much trial and error at least at the start. Maybe it'll pick up later, its just not very fun for me. It doesn't help that I'm not a fan of the black and white, moody, slightly depressing artstyle. I made to "make your bed" or something like that and don't know what to do since of the two interactable objects in the room, one (slam through the floor) is instent death, and the other doesn't do anything except blow out seemingly useless steam. I'm ok with figuring things out for yourself, but at least give me some hints as to how your basic mechanics work.

Also precision back touch is a horrible idea. I think some time during the vita's life developers are going to have realize its either a gesture, a drag with onscreen info of where you are on the back, or a 9 quadrant tap. Taping things as if it were a touch screen just doesn't work.

Again, things might pick up after i figure more things out with it, but thats my first impression.

Mutant Blobs Attack: This really helped to bring my spirits back up. Its the standard cheesy scifi type of atmosphere, but for a platformer this is actually suprisingly deep. It's definitly more puzzle/platformer than katamari eat and grow. The eat and grow segments are really segmented and more used to create platforming mandatory collectibles. There are tons of sections with objects you can touch and move using the touch screen and all of them seem really smart and somewhat puzzly, which really justifies the mechanic. There's also a magnetic attract/detract thing going on which they use for some really tricky platforming parts.

Only real complaint is the top down motion control part where you tilt your system to make the blob roll in the direction you tilt. I really don't like games telling me I have to hold my controler or system in a precise way, and the levels with that in it seem really generic and boring anyhow.

Super Stardust Delta: Only really played the arcade mode a little bit, but it seems pretty fun, and is also very pretty. Leaving all the gimicky controls on by default is a mistake, since back touch is too easy to accidently hit for it to be used for one button, and again the tilt stuff which forces you to hold the system in only a single position. Both Super Stardust and Mutent Blob seem to assume you are playing it hunched over looking down at it when I like to play with it either 90 degrees with the ground, or above me while reclining/lieing down.

Anyhow at least with this you can disable all that stuff, and just play with joysticks and buttons and it works fine.

Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend: I'm a super casual fighting game fan that never could get his thumbs to move fast enough to get the desired results, so its just CPU fights for me. That said Blazblue has a very extensive tutorial, a arcade mode, a story mode, a mission mode (separate from the character specific tutorials) and a few other gimicky fight modes, so it seems there is plenty here for me. Only got through half the tutorial mode so far but damn that thing is extensive, and the character that guides you through it is fun enough to keep it interesting. Lots of mechanics to learn.

This is where I realized the D-pad on this is superb. Its basically like an extra clicky nintendo d-pad with diagonal groves carved out to let you know exactly where down and down right is seperated.

It was getting dark by now, and so my first sighting of the black screen blotching. It doesn't seem like a huge deal since it only seems to show up in loading screens. Even in darker games like escape plan I can't really see them in the black areas, only when the whole screen is black.

Wipeout 2048: Saved the best for last. When watching videos of this I'd thought they way they hid draw distances using big buildings and the way the buildings were proportioned were really weird and felt like they were having to compromise to put it on a portable, but after playing it myself, seeing it on the screen its made for I was wrong. It really does look amazing in line with the PS3 Wipeout HD.

By this point I'm actually liking the super touchy, little resistance analog sticks. Makes it really easy to do slight adjustments given the little force you need to put into it. I can see how it might have problems in a shooter like uncharted where you need to have a feel for the center of the stick for those up/down and left/right simultaneous adjustments, but for the games I've been playing these sticks work better.

Closing Thoughts: I still think back touch has potential, but the games I've played have all used it very poorly. I think Virtua Tennis 4 and FIFA do it right from what I've seen, but its the type of thing where when its not used right its used horribly. I hope devlopers can get past that quickly.

Otherwise being able to multitask the music player with everything is great, and the speed between being in game to getting to the music player is crazy fast. I just wish we had internet radio support and podcast support to go with it. I just wish it wasn't so easy to cover up a speaker while holding the thing, making the sound become all muffled.

Overall, I'd say I'm pretty satisfied and can't wait for the firmware updates to make this thing even better.

Someone told me it could be for battery saving reasons, but eh.

So I bought Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, and it looks amazing on the Vita. Everything is so sharp and vibrant.

Now I'm looking for another PSP title to round out my collection, and I'm stuck between three games:

Ys: Oath of Felghana
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

I'm honestly leaning towards Lunar, as it's $15 instead of TiiS's $20, and it has a 2D look that I feel would look better on the Vita. I could probably be convinced to switch, though!

From Amazon.

well also from the same review page

EDITED (2/23/2012): Regarding the hinge design flaw. For curiosity's sake, I decided to check, if, with the Vita inside, if the hinges still manage to make the case open with some pressure. Now, (and you can try this yourself with your own case), without anything inside the Crystal Case, if you press your thumbs to the hinge, the case can be opened with your fingers, bypassing the pressure clasp entirely. This is the major flaw and the cause of the case popping open. However, when the Vita is actually inside, and you try to open the case by pressing on the hinges, the case remains shut! While more testing may be necessary, (and probably not from me, since I don't want to drop my Vita...even in a case), it seems that PDP may have indeed thought through their case design, and that ironically, with a Vita inside, the case seems to be much less likely to be opened with a drop.

For me it won't matter as much because I am looking for a sturdy case to hold vita 'and' games and I will mainly be putting it in a larger laptop bag.

I am taking the risk on it and I hope I do not regret it.

Lunar is one of the best RPGs of all time IMO but you can't really go wrong between it and Legend of Heroes

Agreed.

#1 drives me crazy. I have no idea how difficult it is to add an override that keeps you signed in into settings but it should totally be there. Having batterysaving features is kind of stupid especially if you're using it while plugged.

Worst is the system going into sleep automatically after 5 minutes. It shouldn't do this while the system is plugged in and yet it does.

Power saving features are nice but they should be optional and theres really no reason for them to be forced if you don't need to preserve your battery.

How on earth does this screen protector work? I feel like I've gotten a dodgy one, or I am doing something really wrong.

Got some games from the PSN Store and transferred them from the PS3. The AR is pretty cool, shooting fireworks from my keyboard.

Rayman Origins, nothing special yet. Looks and plays the same as the PS3 version.

Anyone else have WiFi issues with having to manually connect when the Vita comes out of sleep? It seems to just drop the connection, but if you go into settings and press connect it works again, like it loses the ability to do it itself?

My battery lasted 5 hours 15 mins with pretty much all gameplay and a fair bit of downloading, which is great. One thing I'm really surprised about is how accurate and usable those little joysticks are. I was especially impressed with them in Unit 13, oh and the game itself is pretty damn good.

Motorstorm RC is fun, I love the way it tells you when someone has destroyed your lap times, then jump in to reclaim your top spot. :]

So much for the RPG-quality of Lumines. I went into the World Block to see how it looked and was awarded about 25 level ups just for going in. They need to fix that bug.

I know it's to be expected, but the sound quality from the Vita is very good. I tried outputting to my receiver and found that it sounded very crisp and clean across all games I've tested. Uncharted sounds just as good as the console games.

This shouldn't seem like a big deal, but most handheld games suffer from fairly poor sound. Whether it's a low bitrate or the use of lower quality midi, it's rarely particularly impressive. The DS, 3DS, and PSP really don't sound all that great when output through an amplifier. A lot of 3DS games in particular feature surprisingly muffled, low quality audio which I found surprising.
How are you connecting to the amp if you don't mind me asking, I assume just through the headphone jack?

Do you reckon these things would get fixed later on say with a firmware update?
I really hope they give you the option down the line to stay logged in at all times when on WiFi.

I can't seem to get a wifi connection going at all.

Agreed. I just noticed that issue a short while ago while playing uncharted.
