Started re-downloading my PSP games in anticipation of the Vita arriving. I couldn't help notice that I have a free copy of Hustle Kings, presumably because I own the PS3 version. That's awesome. I new it was happening with the WipEout DLC but I hadn't realised it applied to some full games.
It's the same with Top Darts, if you already own the PS3 version.

^thoes screenshots really don't do the game justice. Looks so much better on the vita screen. :\
Is this better?

hey guys whats the best case to get for the vita. would like something that can hold a few additional stuff as well (games, headphones, cleaning cloth). any recommendations??

First up,

Anyone know if Peace Walker Transfaring works with Vita?

Also,

When they do eventually add PSOne support, do you think we'll actually get true analog? Not just mapping D-Pad movement?

I have the PDP custom crystal case and I really like it. Nice soft rubber inserts and space for two memory cards and eight game cards.

This would require modification of the game, surely?

Remote Play has 3 different options to emulate the dual shock controllers

bought Daxter off PSN..All the cg cutscenes lag like crazy. But the gameplay is solid. Any chance that it can be fixed or patched? Oh game looks great on the screen too

Are there any vita cases that hold a lot of games yet? I have a nice carrying case for my ds/3ds that can hold like 40 games officially and quite a few more otherwise, I know it's big but that's how I like to store them for traveling.

A similar case (perhaps an explicit Vita version of the one you're talking about?) exists already from PDP.

Eh, please any suggestion on where I can get Rayman Origins and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus online? Already ordered uncharted and UMVC3 from amazon. Gamestop is a no go as they dont seem to accept international card even though i am shipping to an address in the US. Thanks

Rayman Origins is €29.99, Ninja Gaiden is €31.99 at PlanetAxel.

Edit: Never mind. I thought you were ordering from Europe. Have you tried Best Buy and the other major stores?

Eurogamer said:
PlayStation Vita launch title Uncharted: Golden Abyss has claimed top spot in the new UK all-format charts. Vita exclusive FIFA Football was second.

The two games accounted for 50 per cent of the total Vita software sold last week. There were 23 launch titles in total.

PlayStation Vita hardware sales data showed that 79 per cent of buyers chose the Vita's Wi-Fi version. Chart-Track does not publicly disclose sales figures.

Wow, was not expecting that!

How is monster hunter freedom unite on the Vita? I haven't played a MH game before but I remember my friends playing it like crazy a while back. Does the right analog mapping work really well? Possible price drop in the near future? $20 is on the cusp of too expensive for me

I re-installed it on my Vita last night and my first impression was very positive. However, I know that some of the more seasoned Monster Hunter players prefer using the old claw technique, since you might need to move the camera and press the face buttons simultaneously. It's only €9.99/£7.99 on the European store, so it wouldn't surprise me if it got a permanent price drop on the US store soon as well.

Quick question, I never played Monster Hunter FU before, but now ive got the right stick mapped to camera, how do I invert it, I cant find that option anywhere, and its really annoying me, I was really looking forward to this.
I cant play noninverted, its too counter-intuitive to me.

im so in love with my vita
i stopped gaming almost for 2 years , i dont want to play on TV anymore, boring and too lazy

i can not let go of my vita.....playing non stop

Wtf, 'boring' to play on a tv? -_-
Hey, everyone's different, even if that statement seems odd. Though I love being able to just move my handheld wherever I want, good luck doing that with your TV and console in the middle of a session! Nor are consoles as good for pausing said session for that matter.

Quoting myself. Please help.

I have no idea since I'm the opposite. Inverted camera makes no sense to me unless I'm playing a flight sim.

Edit: Apparently there are these options in the game. Try changing them and see what happens.
Camera Type: TYPE1, TYPE2, TYPE3
X-Axis Cntl Type: TYPE1, TYPE2
BowgunShldrSight: TYPE1, TYPE2

I get the perks of owning a portable as I own the most relevant ones, I don't understand someone purposely choosing to play on vita vs a console if the console is accessible however. I'll use my vita when the tv is occupied or in bed.

My vita just arrived however my memory card did not. Can anyone tell me if Wipeout, Rayman or Luminescent work without a memory card, I'd check myself but this thing arrived with zero charge in it.

All Sony games (thus' WipEout) don't work without a memory card.

I use it if the game I want to play is on it. Seems simple enough, I'm surprised I'm not seeing that reasoning cited more often when it comes to choosing, even if I understand there ARE games that are more situational or that one or the other is backup at times.

Of course, I WOULD find it kind of confounding if a notably inferior portable version were chosen over a console version when there are no factors like replaying or lacking said consoles. I'm thinking Ninja Gaiden here by the way, not something like Rayman Origins or BlazBlue where the ports are very good and the type of game COULD be argued as more suitable on handhelds (or at least not diminished to the point of negating the portable advantage).

In Raymans case, removing the entire co op mode would severely diminish the appeal of the game for many I imagine, myself included. Of course I buy portable games that I can't play elsewhere, but for stuff like MLB the show, given the choice I think i'd rather use a console for that but would play it on the portable when it made sense. I'll enjoy playing uncharted in bed on the vita because it's a good game, that doesn't mean I don't want to play through uncharted 3 because tvs are boring.

Sometimes it's just easier. Many evenings I could walk upstairs to my console setup but I'd rather curl up on the sofa with the missus and the PSP. I still get my gaming fix but I also get to spend a little 'passive' time with the missus. Plus, she can fetch the brews.

Bed is the other place I play a whole lot of PSP (and soon, Vita).

Outside the house, my iPhone is the gaming device of choice. Although the Vita / PSP / 3DS are handheld, I don't find them portable.

i've preferred portable gaming at home for a while now. just not all that crazy about sitting in front of a television :) ...

Oh, yeah, Rayman's definitely an extreme case of "what do you want out of the game?" If you were interested in the co-op and seriously wanted it the Vita version genuinely IS neutered. And... yeah, certain types of games ARE better for one or the other, Hot Shots Golf was partially appealing because of the idea of playing it on a handheld over a console (the fact Out of Bounds commands a shocking amount of money for a game of its age and relative to other entries doesn't help), but I can see that not holding up as well for other sports. Especially when they aim for photo realism, Hot Shots stuff could scale easily enough as the PSP games still looked fine to me, but if I was into Madden at all the PSP would probably be my last choice.

Ugh, Wipeout 2048 keeps pulling me out of PSN whenever I try to play online :\
I was playing Mutant Blobs Attack yesterday with PSN online notifications popping up all the time - when I finished the levels it would ask me to connect to PSN to upload my scores. :s

Also, fuck the notifications. Playing VT4 to lose the entire top half of the court is NOT COOL!

One of the first games I tried

It works fantastic

Kinda sad really because this is what I always wanted but having already sunk 400 hours or so into, I'm just too burned out to give a damn at this point =(

Almost a week after the launch I'm actually very satisfied with both the hardware and software. But it isn't perfect.

Operating system
Improvement: Don’t stop your downloads when you put your device on standby.
Improvement: Vita shouldn’t activate sleep mode middle of Kojima long cutscenes.
New feature: Add a ability to group applications to folders.
New feature: Automaticly add patches to my download list.

PlayStation Network
Improvement: Automatically sing into PlayStation Network once when you start up your device. It shouldn’t be necessary to sign in every time you want to do action in friends or group messaging.
Improvement: Instead of automatically disabling network features when you play singleplayer games, the user should get a choice between disabling them to increase battery life or still be able to use network features like party and receive messages from friends.
Improvement: Update the profile card with unlocked trophies from your Vita system.
Improvement: Friends should be able to see me online when I'm playing the Vita.
Improvement: Friends should be able to see which game I’m playing on Vita.

Application improvements

Browser

Improvement:Allow using the browser without closing down other active application like games.

Group messaging

Improvement: Allow the interval for message-checks to be reduced even further. Instead of 15 minutes make it at least 5 minutes or enable instant communication.
Improvement:

Change name to messaging or messages, group messaging is just a feature.

Near:

Improvement: Allow update-intervals of less than an hour, at least for games trying to access near's features.

Music

New feature: Ability to make playlists for your songs.

PS Store

New feature: Abiltiy to see the size of the file before purchase.
New feature: Ability to see memory left in unit.
New feature: Ability to see supported languages.

Trophies

New feature Automatically sync your trophies with PlayStation Network.

Hardware improvements

Improvement: Easier to open the game card slot and accessory port.
Improvement: Stick doesn't make enough resistance
New feature: New colors.

Over the coming weeks I will probably find a couple of more complains or find some shared by others.

I think they really need to incorporate some settings for notifications. I may not want to know every time I'm disconnected from the network, or when my friends log on, or even to see trophies; while trophies are more than fine to know about in a game like Super Stardust I might not want to see them in Gravity Rush, and I probably will be very annoyed to see them at all in something like Good People Die, might actually be enough reason to go with the 3DS version come to think of it.

Bah, really should have gotten that screen protector now. It's not major but I managed to scratch the screen. Curse that infernal charger!
