PS Vita western launch thread, p. 2 | Simply the most desirable handheld yet released

The Hori PS Vita Face cover is seriously the case I've been waiting for. I needed something to be on my Vita 24/7 which protected the entire console (because I'm very insane when it comes to handhelds) and with a face cover it's absolutely perfect.

I still have a large case to throw it into if I ever want any insane protection.

If you're crazy like myself, I strongly suggest you buy this case from Amazon.

That looks kinda clunky. How is it to play with the clam shell open?

Got a thickness comparison?

Thanks.

i already have 400 megs gone and I can't figure out where they went. Does this system not delete updates after it downloads them? Because if they're patched to the card as you said, I should be able to find and delete them, right?

It depends on the game. Not all of them will keep their save data and patches on the game card.

You can go to:

Settings > Application Data Management to look for these supporting files

and/or

Start the game to manage its save files.

If there is no option for you to delete them either way, then you will have to remove the game from your Home Screen to free up all data associated with the title.

EDIT:
As for your 400Mb gone, it may be used for any number of purposes without knowing more details.

Picked up a Vita and 32gig card at lunch break. Gamestop guy was really hounding me to buy retail games and kept asking why I would only want to download games.

This is the first time I've really been an early adopter of a handheld, mainly getting it now because I really wanna play HSG, Wipeout, and the PSP back catalog (Tactics Ogre). Hopefully more good stuff is on the way for Vita.

I haven't played any of my five games and saved, with the exception of Lumines. I returned Ninja gaiden, and when I held the bubble to remove it, it said that I could delete the game but not the corresponding data since I didn't have the game card.

As for the 400, I don't know here it went. what kind of detail do you want?

I can't decide!

Dynasty Warriors, NGS+ or Marvel :S

Or I can go for Powerstone Collection and some other PSP games....

I really think sigma isn't worth it unless you don't own it currently. The challenge modes are just tacked on bullshit.

Can anybody tell me how Tactics Ogre looks?

If you haven't played it for a while (it's been years for me) then I'd argue that Sigma+ is definitely worth it. Game looks absolutely killer on the Vita (despite 30 fps).

For anyone that has never played it, however, there is no reason not to buy it now. One of the best games ever made for XBOX.

Dynasty Warriors is....well Dynasty Warriors. It's fun, looks great, plays great and it's pretty much the same old. There are also some neat network features implemented.

NGS+ is fantastic (mostly because I'm a huge NG fan). It's definitely not running at 60 fps, but it looks fantastic on the screen and runs great, so if you want a portable NG then go for it.

Have not played Marvel (mainly because I'm not a huge fighters game fan)

Ah, that would be a problem/bug. We should be able to delete the corresponding data even/especially if we don't have the game anymore. Is the ADM for Ninja Gaiden empty as well ?

You won't be able to provide that level of details. ^_^
Only a programmer who has the necessary rights to query the file system and inspect the data + meta-data can answer the question.

Despite sucking at FIFA, I can't stop playing it. Almost won my first exhibition today!
It only gets better from that point, trust me. Once you start developing your skills and getting used to the way everything works it will be even harder to put the game down.

Still, I'm resisting picking up a Vita version until FIFA 13 hits.

Finally bought Lumines and man, it does not disappoint. The skins are awesome, but the OLED screen turns them into pure bliss. Decided to download it rather then buy the physical copy since this game has limitless replay value.

Anyone know if the US PSN is getting any Vita demos tomorrow?

My most played game on Vita. One of the best looking launch titles, imo. I'm having a blast with, despite the framerate.

But I would say it's the last way to play it unless being portable is the main appeal. 30fps by default makes it the worst version available.

Are online passes region free? I'm going down to the US on Friday and I'll grab some games if there are deals to be had but I'm concerned about redeeming the passes on Canada PSN

Just read a really good article on vita over at IGN. The writer made the point that Vita is to portable gaming as high-end cameras are to photography. People still buy those even though smartphones can take pictures. I have to say I agree. Vita will be successful as long as it has quality titles

A friend who works at a retail store is bringing one for me with a 20% discount. Have to wait until the weekend before i can pick it up though :/

My only issue is I don't feel like I'm learning skills as much as I'm trying to make do with what I have, which is not very much. I wish the game would teach me more on how to not suck.

I would love to shoot with rear touchscreen, but my fingers inadvertently touch it resulting in many shots from way too far out. Other than that, game is yet another Vita launch gem

I honestly don't see many games saving updates on the actual card. Wipeout saved the update files so that you can delete from app data in settings though, so I guess that's nice. I'm still a little amazed that they don't give you access to save files, it's almost if they took a little too much from iOS in that regard.

Someone else theorized (which I agree with) that the reason saves are hidden is because one of the first PSP hacks involved a lumines save file.

Man, I dunno, it's just so sharp that I can almost overlook the framerate. At least there isn't lots of tearing like the PS3 version.

The XBOX version is pretty sparse in comparison as well (just popped it in recently).

It's a very strange situation, but I think the allure of new hardware really plays a role here as I'm really enjoying it more than I probably should be.

The Content Manager should be able to block dubious files where necessary.

Hiding save files won't prevent exploit. When we backup a game to a PC, we can see and change the save file(s) anyway. The changed save files can be restored back to the Vita.

Need to look at how the saves are organized and protected.

We should be able to sync the saves to SEN cloud later like PS+ though.

I don't know what voodoo Amazon pulled but Hot Shots Golf and Rayman Origins moved up to Wednesday delivery instead of the middle of March. Dear lord, this week is just full of things to play...

Marvel is a great port but the online population is full of rage-quitters that ruins the experience.

Welcome to most online fighting game communities. Actually, I think its mostly the competitive people who take it seriously but not seriously enough to actually learn how to play the game at a high level. They get upset when losing to "cheap" tactics such as combos, mix ups, or just lows and throws.

These are people we call 'scrubs'.

There's a thread about it somewhere around here. Good article.

Edit: I'm tempted to pick up a NeoGeo game this weekend.

I am currently playing Uncharted and enjoying every bit of it. I have never played Uncharted and am considering buying a PS3 just to play the rest of the Uncharted series.

Damn you Sony!

In the "playing Vita a lot phase" battery life is beginning to bother me. As a result I've bought a second power adaptor (which was surprisingly cheap) so I can charge it more conveniently around the house.

I just spent my whole lunch break downloading wallpapers for my Vita. Sooo beautiful. This could end up being a new hobby. Some great stuff in our very own Gaf wallpaper thread.

You guys played Hustle Kings?

Playing an asynchronous multiplayer game at the moment, it's great! Even if i am having my arse handed to me

How much ? And which one did you pick ? I'm evaluating my options too.

I have been playing my Vita every day since launch. Screen looks incredible when it is on. So, who cares what it looks like when it is off?!? I swear some of you would bitch about the scattered clothes of a naked supermodel in your bed.

Im loving uncharted but having a hard time getting used to the tilt controls while aiming...

Yeah, am awful at it though.

Absolutely, so am i. Great game though. Can see myself playing a lot of the asynchronous multiplayer. I like that a lot.

Oh fuck. I had no idea Hustle Kings had Async multiplayer.

:/

My wallet weeps.

Yeah. You take a turn, then it generates a message to the other player. They receive the message, it links to the game. They take their shot, send you a message. Works really well.

Just curious, how possible is it to stick this huge thing in your pocket to use it as an mp3 player? I've been using my Go that way since I got it and obviously it's fucking tiny and awesome. The size of this thing is like the one drawback for me.
