Really hope they make this really stealth heavy...the potential for espionage instead of straight up stabbing is very high

I could totally see that guy sneaking around, shooting arrows in the forest. A lot of the continental army forces fought basically guerrilla style.

if it's in Boston, I wanna climb the Bunker Hill Monument

Erected in the mid 1800s :p

The Witcher
Portal

I think you missed the part about counter-arguments.

Anyway, that was just my sassy way of expressing my hype-meter going to 11 and then exploding. :D

Definitely MY favorite game of this generation.

You know how sometimes you find a game or franchise that just feels like it was made for you? Like, the subject matter, style, gameplay all provided EXACTLY what you love?

That's AC for me.

Depends what you mean. Fail-states suck. It's why Splinter Cell didn't get good til Chaos THeory. The beauty of AC for me is that you could approach stealth from a variety of avenues (use crowds, hire distractions, keep out of site on roof-tops and enter through alternate paths, etc), but if you did get caught, you had the means to fight your way to safety and then re-engage.

Same here (OF course, AC1 is my top in the series, with Rev a close second. My opinion is far removed from the norm.)

I see the potential for some very interesting stories... But what am I going to climb? Tress and rock cliffs? There weren't too many large buildings in that time period. But dat tomahawk.

He's a fucking cowboy with a tomahawk.

Thanks for completely ruining everything that made Assassins Creed fun.

Holy shit, you got to play the game? What's it like? Did the lack of large building hamper the gameplay? Is George Washington in it? Does Ben Franklin give you gadgets?

Yeah same for me but I just tend to really dig anything with a bit of freedom, som breathing room instead of small corridors packed with 50 faggots to shoot.

Yup, stated perfectly. I have complete and total love for everything they've created.

Yup, you use the apple to electrocute everyone as they're signing the declaration of independence.

I'm just not a fan of the American Revolution (as an event, of course the outcome is appreciated) or Colonial American culture to begin with, so this is disappointing news to me. Sorry.

Looks pretty awesome. I loved the Ezio trilogy but it was growing stale. This should liven things up alot. Day 1

Fair enough, however I think if it's done well it could be a really great change of pace from the previous settings.

Honestly I wish it was Civil War instead of American Revolution. I can imagine great Templar vs. Assassin conspiracy going on.

They needed to reevaluate the core mechanics of being an Assassin to keep the series from stagnating, something that would have never happened if they stuck with the euro-centric mid-millenium settings. This new setting opens a lot of new doors.

I can't imagine any better setting than the founding of America for a great Templar vs. Assassin conspiracy.

You can't imagine that same divide with the American Revolution? The pieces are there. I agree that the Civil War is ripe with lore as well. Imagine a black assassin.

Okay, I'm excited. I just hope the actual game's mechanics and game design differ from the last 4 games.

I'm sure there will be some changes and additions, but no doubt the core of parkour, crowd dynamics and combat will still be there.

You have the formation of a new country that both groups, thanks to the future-telling abilities of the apple of Eden, know is going to turn into a pre-eminent superpower.

There's ton's of room for political divide between the French, British, Colonists and Native Americans.

Anyone hoping for an Arkham City-like change...so tired of these 1.5 sequels these days, a true blue sequel with all new mechanics would be nice

I mean I understand the Revolution is filled with stuff to happen. I'm just thinking the war on OUR(And by our I mean the United States) turf. It's just more thrilling to me. I guess to a worldwide audience, it would be different. I don't know. I can just imagine the Lincoln assassination.

My hype level is over 9000.

I've only played AC1 and AC2, should I bother playing brotherhood or revelations? Are either of them canon? Or should I just read their plots on wikipedia?

The American Revolution was on our turf. The American Revolution was a worldwide affair. The French loved the American Revolution as they hated the British in that time-frame. But, again, I agree, the Civil War would have been brilliant as well.

Hopefully better than Arkham City, which basically just tossed in an open-world city worth of fluff and empty space for you to bus through from mission to mission.

Just me or does the guy look really old?

As if Ubisoft is already prepared to kill him off

Looks like mid-30s max to me.

Wouldn't be shocked if you started off younger though.

Yeah play them both, there both amazing games definitely worth playing for sure.

While I think the design for the assassin is cool 1700s North America has very little in terms of large unique architecture, which always seemed like one of the biggest draws of the series. Its important to note that there's way less people in those cities then say Venice, Florence or Rome. I also feel that the colors are going to to go back to lots of browns and dark shades of blue and red, but that's just my opinion I know very little of late 1700s fashion or design. It seems like a step back in a lot of ways to me. These thing are only important if the are keeping the same open world template though. If they instead take a page out of RDR book and make the wilderness a big draw instead of the city would be great.

Swing and a fucking miss.

Hardly, that was my first thought after seeing the gun and leathers. Sue me for making that mental connection.

I admit with the team that Ubisoft has working on AC games, they have the potential to make it great, I just wish they would have gone with something less generic, "bring the fight home", etc, etc. That, and like a few others here, part of the reason I loved AC so much was climbing huge buildings to see the beautiful landscapes. The buildings in colonial America weren't that large, overall.

Sorry, I should've clarified. I meant that it was more or less an internal issue rather than dealing with outside countries. Both are brilliant ideas and if they ever do make another console AC game, Civil War. Please.

Wonder if they'll stick with the first name trend. Both Altair and Ezio's names translated to something like "flying eagle". This dude's could be awesome.

I wonder if this will tie into the French Revolution? (Disclaimer I haven't played 2.5 and 2.75 yet so I may be ignorant).

Would've been perfect for the setting. Maybe it'll be something for like AC 3.5?

If anything, there is a lot more discourse out there over conspiracies regarding Templars, masonry, and King George during the American Revolution than anything like that during the Civil War.
