Nintendo Downloads - March 2012

Mario's Picross is awesome. Definitely grab it if you liked Picross DS.

The only downside is that it only gets up to 15x15 grids (if I remember correctly.. maybe 20x20?). In either case, it remains fairly easy up until the last few puzzles.

Holly shit, the eShop actually notifies me to software updates now. It didn't do that last time I had an updateable title. GG Nintendo, you're finally learning.

You were right first time, 15x15 in the GB title.

Cubello is pretty good.

It's been awhile since I played it, but I did play it a lot when it first came out... I recall not being totally happy with the end-game, though; I'd keep getting cubes that would just draw it out. It's a lot more fun at the beginning of a stage.

It did me for Super Mario Bros. I haven't been scroling through my downloads list digging up updates, though. I didn't see the point in wasting my time.

Ugh, so many ways I can play OG Metroid, still have no desire to touch that game.

I did beat Zero Mission again last week!

I concur where Cubello is concerned. Although I actually like it quite a lot, despite the end game shenanigans. The essential gameplay is just fun :).

So far it's only been for the NES games. Other software you still have to go in manually to check.

Strap on your hooker ...
Cubello's awesome, I've put many hours into it. It's basically a lightgun puzzle game. Highly recommended.

Just downloaded the Crush 3D demo. It has 30 uses. Pretty relieved to see that. I didn't want the Nintendogs demo to have set a new precedent.

Yeah, we recieved Metroid 2 a while back. Still surprised we got it after Japan though.

We got Punchout! today which I am tempted to buy. Although as an Ambassador I am spoiled with those "free" 10 NES roms in my 3DS. 5€ are a hard pill to swallow. Game Gear's 3€ price will be a sweet spot

Not actually that important
I love looking for the Nintendo releases each week, but hate this thread's format. Too confusing and too much going on. I would much rather just see groups of weekly releases, by region, then spreading it out as much as possible. This is a news thread, and even though it's march 1st, the op is already cluttered.

What's wrong with the OP? I think it's a very good effort, only thing I'd change is to have a different font color for every region instead of everything red.
Also I'd put each week's official EU/NA pr on second post.

I think it's fine. Find your region, look for the Red tag for new releases, and then back to reading the thread. Don't need to wade through the extra sections, if you don't want to.

Edit:
Thanks for posting the press release, btw!

The artstyle in Crush 3D is so unappealing compared to the PSP version. Are there any significant additions to the re-release aside from the graphical fresh coat of paint? It's difficult to justify the purchase when the original is available from PSN for $5...

The eshop told me to get an update for excite bike... why is that? what did they change?
I know mario bros was changed because of it's official eshop release, but excite bike has been out for months now...

I liked the Crush 3D demo. The art seemed a little low res, but the writing was good and the puzzles were decent.

Also, congrats to Nintendo for finally figuring out how Update notifications work.

Holy shit I see Double Dragon 2 listed for JPN Wii VC. Does that mean it'll come out in other territories too?

According to a message on the Wii Shop, Super R-Type and R-Type III will be removed from the EU VC at the end of the month.

Mario and Sonic at 2012 Olympic Demo is a great taster. I seriously may look in to picking this up now.

Long live 3DS demos.

M&S 2012 isn't really good. I know it's just a minigame collection but I don't know, it felt pretty bland.

So is there a demo of Crush 3D on the North American eShop? Just wondering, I don't have my 3DS near by right now.

I can't say I'm too excited about Metroid since I already have it and haven't played it. I would have bought Punch-Out!! though. I hope we get it next week since everyone else got it.

Really? There was also an update for 3D Classics Excite Bike waiting for me (which definitely wasn't there 2 weeks ago) but I guess that could have had nothing to do with the notification. Well I guess we'll see next time a non-ambassador game gets an update. If this is really just for ambassador games and nothing else I'd have to ask, wtf? The functionality is there so there's no reason they can't use it for any and all eShop games.

I only found out what it does on the internet. Is it possible to know what it does from the e-shop or something? I mean, how did Nintendo World Report find out what the update does?

No there's no way within the eShop to tell what updates do. NWR knew what it did because this update has been a long time coming and was promised from the very beginning of the ambassador program. Nintendo really needs to add and update log to the eShop. What that Excite Bike update I also downloaded does is a complete mystery to everyone.

Not to be rude, but I would rather either Wario Land, Trip World, or KDL2 (especially this one due to it being borked) since they haven't been re-released digitally yet unlike Punch-Out which has a VC release on Wii.

Yep, I tried the Crush3D demo twice, and liked it way more than I expected!

Yeah, it doesn't have the more Tim Burton-esc look of the PSP version (never played), but I do like the new style and the character design of Danny looks way better.

The 2D art is neat, yeah it's low-res in the cutscenes, buty it's perfect in-game during the stages. Shame they didn't use 2D art for the box art, but the 3D render is appropriate, it's how Danny looks.

The look actually gives me a Genesis-vibe for some reason, maybe it's because it feels so... 90's?

I'll really look into it when the price drops, no way I can afford to get anything that isn't a must have at normal price, my budget is only good for Xenoblade, Mario Tennis Open, and perhaps one other (Tales of the Abyss might earn its keep if it is super short supply).

That's for the first half of the year, Last Story will be mine, but I'm sadly considering waiting for a price drop as it is an XSEED game and not Nintendo-published, then again, Fragile Dreams in Canada is only at EBGames, and it's STILL like $45 if you can even find it. :/

I seriously want TLS, but I'm on welfare. X'(

And of course, Wii U! I don't typically buy systems at launch, due to potential early tech issues, or whatever, the only exception was the original DS IIRCt I got day 1.
