Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

In the realm of non-news:
I know nobody cares at this point, but here are my predictions for the Wii U:
Price: $299.99 - The perfect price to start this new generation. It will be competitive with current-generation consoles while still appearing superior. It leaves a lot of room to reduce the price in case of failure, and it leaves room for some great pack-ins later on. Gamers would worship Nintendo for this price, and, after the 3DS, I believe they know what the consumer expects Nintendo to do with the price of the WiiU. Anything more than this would appear bad.
Release Date: August 19, 2012 OR November 4, 2012 - Depending on what Nintendo decides to launch with, the Wii U could launch in either one of these periods successfully. A soft-launch would require the August release date in order to build momentum into the holidays for their real hard-hitting software. This is the most likely release period, imo. The November 4 date would be a last resort for Nintendo if development is taking longer than anticipated. In this case, several games that are prepared would be postponed for later release during the Spring.

Would be nice to expand it a bit. Have some sort of adventure game and a casual swim among the fish mode
I played 1, but not 2 and it had to be the most boring, fugly game I have ever played. I played it because it had so much potential and I really wanted it to be awesome.
I never got to play Afrika on my PS3 (Didn't come to my region) but for some reason docco-style simulators make me excited. I guess it's the idea of playing a game in this fully realised world based on crazy places around the globe I'll never see.
I think they should start including fictional beasts but not make it clear that it's fictional. Have you discover ancient ruins and crashed alien landing sites with long descriptions and meticulous false histories describing the artifacts. Then include stuff like kraken and monster squid and cthulu and plesiosaurs with long histories as well but way late in the game. You'd have a lot of people scratching their heads and thinking "wtf, this shit is real?? I gotta go wiki this stuff."
I've already cued up $300 worth of 3DS game purchases for the summer, not including the system itself. this year is going to be spendy for my gaming habit :-(

Me too! The developer has been quite busy making 3D classics games, but Nintendo's SPD Group 2, who helped in the development, hasn't made anything since helping with Xenoblade. I foresee something.
Also,
- I also figure HAL Labs will be highly consumed in creating either downloadable games or Smash Bros U.
- EAD 1 just finished Nintendogs and Mario Kart 7 and has probably started work on Mario Kart U.
- EAD 2 will create the Wii U-branded games along with Animal Crossing 3DS
- EAD 3 will be busy until 2015 creating the next Zelda
- EAD 4 is working on Pikmin 3 and New Super Mario Bros Mii
- EAD 5 is likely creating Wii U versions of its Wii series.
- EAD Tokyo 1 is creating Miyamoto's new IP
- EAD Tokyo 2 is creating the new 3D Wii U Mario
- SPD 1 is making some WarioWare game.
- SPD 2 is helping with Endless Ocean 3
- Retro Studios is creating their new Donkey Kong game
- Intelligent Systems is busy making the best 3DS games EVER!!
- Monolith Soft is creating their new Wii U RPG for 2014
- ND Cube = Mario Part 10
- HAL = Smash Bros
- New Studio Coming out in 2013 = NOTHING!

I'm still saving money for all my Wii U purchases. I already have $1000 saved but I need more because I still have to buy a lot of Wii games AND if that's not enough I'm saving like $200 more for VC GameCube games (if they confirm them lol)
The good thing is that if I buy 5 games at the same time, the shop gives me one for free so I need moneizz!!

I got Tales of Graces F for free, so the only thing I'm paying for is (probably) Dragon's Dogma. Besides that, all my money is being saved for wiiU.
My dream game for the console would be - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 2. The same atmosphere, the same medieval and Renaissance theme (the composers have to be Kumi Tanioka, Hidenori Iwasaki and Ryo Yamazaki), better class system, more complex battle combinations, more personal customization, online, and HD!!!

I just realized I only have a single black Wii remote plus. The other 3 are all regular remotes. Should I pick up each of the other 3 coloured Wii remote plus controllers? Then I could theoretically pick up whatever colour Wii U they have at launch and make it not look weird in my set up. Ugh.. the nunchuks won't match at all. I only have 2 nunchuks/classic controller pros, so I guess I could pick up two white nunchuks and two white classic controller pros. How weird would a pink remote + white nunchuk or a blue remote + black nunchuk look? I can't visualize it. Why don't they just make pink/blue nunchuks for fucks sake.
Maybe I should just keep it all black until a Black Wii U comes out. But then I miss out on the whole launch party fun. It'll be my first console I buy on launch so I kinda want to experience it. Bah.

yes we doo, especially because of the first quote. It's just gonna blow my mind to see those games in HD. I can't even imagine it! That weird curiosity of seeing these games I love (and couldn't imagine with higher end graphics) being in HD is like 98% of my interest in the WiiU.We all know their coming to Wiiu

It doesn't look like anyone from NoA or NCL that is high up enough to make any major announcements is going to be at GDC. So I would keep expectations low.
Nintendo works with Headstrong Games on a lot of projects. But I don't think they have a fully owned studio in Europe.
Nope. I believe all of Nintendo's first-party developers are primarily located in Tokyo, Japan except for Intelligent Systems (Kyoto) , and of course, Retro Studios (Texas).
Technically they did with Rare, but now Shin'En is the closest thing they have to a Factor5-like "1st party" provider in the EU.
They should seriously make a new studio with ex-Factor5 guys.
And then Rogue Squadron 4.
