Ha!

If they were to go with that, they'd have to bring back the music and the little car.

If the Smart Car was an allegory for the Wii's small physical size and pragmatic, affordable level of power - they should go with Nissan Jukes or something this time.

That all seems likely to me, but replace ACIII live demo with Killer Freaks live demo. However, I feel like they have some sort of secret that none of us could guess. If the tablet controller was their ace in the hole I feel like they wouldn't have revealed it a year and a half before the console's release. They obviously weren't concerned with the possibility that Sony and Microsoft could ape their tablet idea and not three years into the console cycle this time. I feel like Nintendo is using the Upad as a way to draw attention away from something bigger. What that may be, though, is beyond me.

Don't forget that the uPad itself could actually be much more than we think it is. It is the most capable controller ever made and besides the obvious touchscreen it gives you many other ways to change gameplay in videogames, but still have that controller feel. I feel like the sensor could be really special, it has a lot of potential to enhance gameplay experiences for "core" titles more than a touchscreen or motion controls would.

You can replace ACIII with any other demo. Sony and Microsoft always have a big 3rd party game to show at their Keynote, I just took ACIII, because of their good relationship.

A surprise announcement would be Sim City. I think that it would work amazingly well with the controller.

And don't forget the megatons: Diablo III. :)

EDIT: Nah, I hope it's this one:

How do you think is Nintendo going to start to talk about Wii U at E3?

Since it's the big thing, I expect them to start with 3DS talk and Iwata speech. And then? Maybe Iwata includes the re-reveal of the Wii U, new desgin, new name, who knows? After that I expect to talk about the system's UI, NN and other possiblities with apps. And then they reveal some casual title, Pikmin 3 and have a live demo. Then an ACIII live-demo and trailers for games released at launch, plus a few trailers for new games coming out in the future. Both Nintendo titles (Mario) and 3rd party games. If we're lucky we'll get launch date and price and one more thing is Retro Studios' new game.

E3 will be all about the Wii U (sure there will be something for 3DS, but that will be maybe 10 minutes of the press conference towards the end, not the very end though), so they will definitely have a Wii U intro to get the show started (just like when Wii was unveiled at E3 2006. Miyamoto entered the stage and started the show with Wii music).

This time around Iwata will enter the stage and just go "This is our new console"(pulls down the curtain that hides Wii U). And than pulls another curtain and show the new controller (it´s a VR helmet). The Wii U pad was just a devkit controller and you have all been fooled. Iwata laughs. ;)

Than there will be some talk about Wii U in general and than Reggie will get on stage and say "everybody sucks and I´m the man". Than we will finally get to see a video game reel with Wii U footage. After that a on-stage demo of Killer Freaks. Than an EA game demo. Some more fun talk from Reggie and than a Wii U casual game demo. After that, some impressions from devs video and a list of all third parties that are working with Wii U.

Than some 3DS stuff and just before the show ends. One more thing, Metroid trailer and it looks awesome. Release this year.

EDIT: The show will start with this trailer:

I just wrote a lengthy story and sent it to Gamasutra. It concerned the problems Nintendo is currently experiencing with the Wii U trademark in Europe (UK specifically). While I've touched upon this matter many times before in this thread, it's not widely known and I have seen no websites reporting it, so hopefully should this set some wheels in motion or at least get people thinking; perhaps even Nintendo will comment if enough reporters approach them about it.

Gamasutra's working hours I have no insight in, but they probably have an extranet which they can access and work from, so maybe there'll be a blurb on this during the weekend. Though it's much information to process, so I would actually prefer if they looked into and gave a deeper report. As a private resident I can't do much to persuade attorneys and other tie clad people to talk, but a unified press might be successful.

Honestly, I hope they don't spend too much time on 3DS. They have Nintendo Direct for that. With Wii U, it will be the first time in 12 months we're hearing about it. The least they could do is spend 60 minutes answering everyone's questions.

Maybe 2 or 3 new games, but I do think they'll take most of the conference for the Wii U.

My guess: Nintendo's E3 presser will be longer this year. An hour and twenty minutes.

They'll open with 3DS, show a few figures and Reggie will take a few jabs against the naysayers. Momentum being the magic word once again, they announce a few games for America including Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion 2 release and Paper Mario. And more importantly, they show the first footage of Super Mario Bros. 3DS. And several third party titles coming to the west including KH, Bravery Default, Monster Hunter Tri G and uh... something else.

Time for Wii U. Or whatever it's new name will be. Explains the name change, introduces the features and so on. Wii U presentation will be extensive. An hour or so.

You guys are getting to excited. They will have to put some 3ds stuff into the conference because it will get the most exposure. Only great third party games will get exposure at their conference and a lot will be revealed in the days after, just like smash brothers.

Maybe they'll do a pre-pre-E3 briefing the night before? Or a special E3DS Nintendo Direct to announce new games and content and just go full bore into Wii U at their conference?

Doesn't Nintendo typically have the shortest conference of the three console makers?

one would guess that the 3DS's succsess for the next one or two years is pretty much set in stone now.
E3 is going to be more like: "COOL GAME HERE! COOL GAME THERE! DAT AWESOME PORT! LOOK AT THAT NEW IP!! PIKMINS!! WHAAA!"- Software and Updates-Stuff while the Wii U (or whatever its going to be called now) is going to be the big BANG!

They just need to go all home console now.

(oh and bring some folder-ish update for the 3DS!! DAMMIT, I HATE MY HOMESCREEN ON THE 3DS!!!! *BARFS*)

Yeah, considering the year long black out they really should have at least 1hr dedicated to the Wii U and it's games.

They'll definitely have something about the 3DS: Firmware 4.0 with NN integration (account system) and changed UI uncluding new Street Plaza stuff and a completely redesigned eShop + capabilities for Wii U communication. Then showing off the already announced titles Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing. Announcing MH3G for EU/NA and first trailer for Mario 2D. Then announcement of Zelda 3DS and Metroid 3DS, all 3 titles coming out in 2013. Also a release date for B&W2.

Sorry for going a bit OT here. :p

I think they'll integrate the NN stuff with the Wii-U. I hope they take advantage of the nintendo direct, and nintendo video 3ds app. Showing off some wii-u/3ds stuff to people who other wouldn't care about E3 seems like a good idea. Generate some hype for the people who aren't going to be getting paid to watch E3 press conferences at work :p

Speaking about E3, I wonder when The ESA will publish the E3 2012 floorplans: http://www.mapyourshow.com/shows/index.cfm?Show_ID=E312

That's the actual page, it's just that no data has been uploaded. On the official E3 web page, there's just this statement: "E3 2012 Floorplans coming in Spring 2012.". The vernal equinox this year happens on the 20th of March, 05:14 am UTC.

Source: http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/data-services/earth-seasons

Though Nintendo of America, Inc. appears in the exhibitor list connected to booth 4822 and OFMR5244 (that may be a meeting room).

Last year they duked it out with Sony in South Hall. At least the booth number starts with a 4 this year as well, so it's likely they have chosen South Hall again.

Hey guys, did you get much news from GDC? I haven't paid much attention.

There was only news appropriate for developers at this developer conference, so it was considered a massive failure by non-developers.

edit: Nintendo is apparently providing free non-Nintendo middleware to third parties, which is apparently pretty effing huge.

My source is my ass!
That commercial is far to serious for the type of game that KI:U is.

I don't know, it could catch another type of audience :)
But yes, all the "light humour" between pit and palutena is not shown here, well, it's too short for that, they aim for efficiency. People will be able to see that in other medias.

I'm curious who made the CG of this commercial btw. Nintendo teams ? An external studio like the ones contracted for their recent 3DS movies ? /crazy speculation: on > It could be a footage of a Kid Icarus HD engine existing somewhere !!!?!! /megaton /omgwtfbbq /believe

My source is my ass!
While seeing this Kid Icarus commercial, i browsed some older ones from Nintendo, and mannnnn, how i miss those in the 80/90's

Yeah, nostalgia is a powerful thing.

I love the "Play it Loud!" campaign, but if something like that ever came up again, it would be very embarrassing.

Of course, people responded well to Nintendo's commercials in small part because the vehicle they used was funny, cute and different in a way that accentuated the foreign-ness of the two Japanese guys, but pleasantly.

Having them drive a car that looks like it has an angry face may not have the results you're looking for.

no u are rong these cars ar perfect
