Who ended up better today? EA buying BioWare or Activison merging with Blizzard?

EA now is a major player in the RPG department and Activison became one of the biggest publishers out there ( mostly thanks to CoD).

But at the end, both accomplished what they wanted. More money. LOL

Starcraft 2 was well made but had a bad story, but you can kind of forgive that because it's not what carries the series

Mass Effect 3 was a rehash with a bad story that completely relies on its bad story. Dragon Age 2 was even worse.

Activision made out a lot better

I dunno Starcraft 1, barely had a story, so S2's commitment to a narrative was a pleasant surprise for me.

Activision made out a lot better money-wise. I'm not sure if it was the best influence on Blizzard though...

Mass Effect 2 & 3 are pretttttty awesome, and SWTOR is a good MMO but then again Dragon Age 2 happened so...

Valve.

They're the only company who has been left untainted by the stain of corporate whoredom. As a result, Valve is more liked by PC gamers.

So, Vivendi is the controlling interest here, so the question here should be if Vivendi gained by getting Activision.

So far Activision.

But damn Activision rides IPs into the ground. EA seems like it's got a wider stable at least.

Not sure what sort of comparison we are suppose to be doing, the scales are pretty different between EA buying a developer and Activision merging with Vivendi, not Blizzard.

Blizzard knows to how to do gameplay.

Bioware sucks at gameplay so that aspects get's more and more apparent the more games they churn out. They also don't have the freedom to release whenever which would help them a ton imo.

Hasn't EA been in the red pretty much every year this generation with the albatross of SWTOR hanging over their heads until late last year? Meanwhile ActiBlizz prints money and fires every studio who can't put out a hit game.

Blizzard released a bunch of WoW expansions I dont care about and starcraft 2.

Bioware released DA:O and Mass Effect 2 but they also made DA2.

Personally I am happier with how Bioware turned out.

2 great new games > 1

I wish I could go back to 1999 and do a "Ghost of Christmas future" to both companies and see what they'd say to themselves... (meaning Blizzard and Bioware)

BioWare have been massively corrupted by EA's malignant influence, they've essentially become EA's label to slap on products and developers to buff their sales, C&C Generals 2 being just the beginning of this I suspect.

Activision, because they made Blizz actually make more games for a change, yeah they are still the major 3 but still released something.

Bioware are no longer the Bioware I know and love, the ones who made Baldur's gate ,Neverwinter nights, KOTOR and Mass Effect 1.

While I enjoyed their subsequent games, they have lost their charm and aim for more spectacle and mass market appeal than making a rich experience.

PS: I have not played Mass Effect 3 yet.
