You know what's one of the best gaming experiences I ever had was?

I2idB.jpg

I played this with my friends nearly every day after school. They came to my house with something to drink and some snacks; played this baby on Gamecube for an awful long time.
One played as long range guy with gun, one as magician, one as swordsman and so on. It was incredible how much teamplay was needed to succed. And the best thing: everybody had their own character with their own screen.

Local multiplayer is best multiplayer out there in my opinion. This is why I want multiple uPads. There are a bunch of games which work with the concept. I don't want these kind of games even to be visually groundbreaking.

And the Wii U could take the concept of local multiplayer to the next level since you can play with more than 4 players because everybody has their own screen.

Gummb

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about Rayman Legends Wii U.
This would fall in line with Nintendo's inability to disclose who made their bird demo, the rumor about the bump in graphics, and Rein's recent discussions about keeping hardware developers at the bleeding edge of ability, and his talk about being made fun of for liking Nintendo.

CLEARLY, he is making something for Nintendo.

Could more power mean that the Wii U could support more uPads?

4 uPads for games like MK, Monster Hunter, FPS games etc. would make me explode. This would be my dream feature.

4 tablets is pushing it...if anything, I'd actually be a bit dissapointed if they went with 4 over 2 because of the bump games would have to take to handle that. I honestly can't see more than 2 tablets being needed

I remember both Iwata and Reggie saying early that the WiiU would not be cheap at least not as low priced as the Wii

so I want something heavy like that for my money, I really would like a premium priced WiiU

if they can try to keep the Wii alive for low end users (which they have been failing at for over a year now) it could have worked

I want 4 tablets or more for the complete eradication of splitscreen in games like Mario Kart. In this case, the pad becomes each player's personal screen while the television projects something rudimentary like a map or a scoreboard.

Anyways, UE4 seems reasonable to expect given Nintendo's stated aims but the vibe I felt from the recent power rumors was that the Wii U fell just below the requisite bar. I hope this newest rumor is accurate; if they're bothering with technological parity, I think it's hopeful that Nintendo goes all the way and attempt features parity plus.

man imagine that, it would be expensive but so much potential the HDTV could show a simple map or even a bird's view camera flowing the racers (like the replays you would normally see after a race but in realtime during the race) and the 4 uPads having their own kart views that could be epic for local play

make this work Nintendo before someone else beats you to multi-pads

Can we start speculating on how they are going to market this thing. I mean they really want to win back the core gamers, so does that mean we get that overtly edgy nintendo gamecube like ads, the one with the clear cube in different locations for example.

I'm just struggling to see how nintendo gets rid of the kiddie image.

prediction:
I think nintendo is going to take a two pronged approach for the first year. They'll continue to market the wii...in fact, marketing for their old console will go up when Wii U comes out. The Wii will drop to $99, many wii games will drop in price, and new bundles/colors will be rampant. This will be because Wii U will be more on the expensive side ($350-400). Nintendo will know full well that Wii U will be priced out of casual mass market range. Wii will be pushed very hard for the casual in order to try to counteract that. At the same time, Wii U will receive equal amounts hardcore and casual targeted marketing. When the competition hits the scene, the Wii U will drop in price and try harder to hit the expanded market, hopefully with 3rd party support and the hardcore gamer in tow.

even bringing up kiddie images says Nintendo is more mature than everyone else in this industry... what is this shit anyway? What do you want angry Kirby with Guns and Prostitutes in Mushroom Kingdom?

Angry Kirby aside Reggie did say WiiU is not being targeted at the same people who are buying the Wii

The market is going to continue to differentiate based on the types of experiences that consumers want. As an example, if I’m the head of a household of a family of four, and my disposable income is $50,000 to $60,000, I’m going to continue to look at the Wii because of the software, and it’s a great entertainment device. For consumers who want to have the latest gadgets and have a higher disposable income, that’s for the Wii U.
We haven’t announced pricing or availability or any other details, but given the current pricing of the Wii, it’s not going to be there.

We’ve been very clear, the market is going to decide how long these products will coexist side by side. Our goal is to launch the Wii U and drive it into the marketplace, but it will speak to a different consumer than the one that is buying the Wii today during the holidays.

I think we get side tracked by rumors and forget what Nintendo themselves are hinting at for the WiiU they are very silent about the WiiU but when they do say something it does sound like a step beyond what they have done before

Well being first out of the gate for next gen will help get games others have to wait for, but then I think we see up ports first

Tbh, I don't think Nintendo will ever get rid of the kiddie image. This generation has dragged on far too long and the general public already believes Nintendo is the family friendly/weak console. The majority of gaming journalists has such a large anti-Nintendo bias for some reason and they will be unlikely to change their tune anytime soon. Even if Nintendo manages to get all the dudebro shooters, gamers aren't going to ditch their 'cool' Xbox for the 'kiddy' Wii U. The name Wii U doesn't exactly inspire confidence that they will rid themselves of this stigma either.

That "Kiddie image" shit again?

Seriously: who seriously considers Nintendo to be a kiddie-only company has no rights to play any game on any systems. Just because most of their games don't support violence and boring colors it doesn't mean they are for kids only.

Too many teenagers are entrenched in the idea that tits and blood are cool. That perception isn't going to change any time soon.

edit: I agree so damn much but the point still stands that the dudebro generation won't touch anything Nintendo because they think it's kiddy.

...Is kiddie spelled kiddie or kiddy?

Nah, if it would ported to another console = Megaton. This will be PS3 exclusive; although I can see them porting it because of the huge production costs.

The next FF the Wii U could get is FF-XIII-3 if this turns out to be true.

Saying a Final Fantasy game is a PS3 exclusive is..... shaky, at this point. I mean, do I have to go fetch Mr. Peabody to fire up the wayback machine to before E3 2008 for the prime examples of why that's bad? ESPECIALLY when you consider that Square Enix would be able to multi-plat a Final Fantasy in JAPAN as well as North America?

no offense but i find it funny how if somebody impugns wiiu's power he's roasted, but "friend of a friend told me" type posts like blacknmilds are welcomed without question if they say something good.
No offense, but I find your reading skills funny how if you read anything that doesn't fit your agenda, it's ignored, but will perk back up when you read something with even a twinge of negativity so you can come back to this thread to twist the knife and not offering anything else to the discussion.

So consider us even.

Also, got you before you stealth-edited. Sucks to be you.

like I said Nintendo's image is that mature one out of all of this clueless image bullshit.

You don't play GTA to be mature you play it to act a fool and that is the fun factor of it

I buy Nintendo consoles to make sure I get that fun Nintendo style of gaming I hope they are never forced to change that image for the sake of being cool.

I am willing to buy a WiiU in lunchbox purple to support this

You know, I love to play Halo Reach on Xbox Live with my buddies next to me. But every single time we enter a match, several players have either a childish voice or they are just kids.
This happens in every single FPS. And nobody calls the 360 or the PS3 kiddie consoles :lol

Not the console but the service. XBL has the bigger kiddie stigma than Nintendo.

I SERIOUSLY once heard a guy at school say "Samus should have bigger tits. I'd like Metroid more."

... I didn't necessarily disagree though.

I would hope nintendo understands it really will be an uphill battle to remove the stigma attached to the brand. I mean the Wii was able to separate it's self from this because it was a social/party console, this generation will see them return to a battle they were losing, with a more traditional controller. I can understand why analysts(you know who) thought nintendo need to ride the momentum they had and release a HD console earlier with Wiimote controllers, hopefully grabbing some core gamers in process who would now be able to play the HD fps(essentially) their friends are playing, while not feeling uncool for having nintendo system as it was also a social console.

I saw a guy trading in a Wii into EB games, he was saying he couldn't stand CoD on it, he was your usual mid 20s casual/hardcore gamer. Now the thing is, at one point he thought the wii would be the console for him, probably not realising the lack of power in the unit, but had been won over by the motion controls. i can't see that sort of pulling power occurring from a controller that has a screen in it, but who knows maybe nintendo will be able to surprise us.

Moar Wii U info plz

nice edit... you were talking about being roasted for negative WiiU leaks
don't edit just put on your flame suit.

If someone is honest enough to go against the grain and post news that shows us WiiU weakpoints it is fair that fans go nuts and meltdown quickly even blame the messenger for the news

just the same if someone without any credibility just said a friend said the WiiU specs kickass we are happy. WHY the hell not? I want my wiiu to kick much ass I have been waiting for Nintendo to go HD for long enough. Real people work at game companies and they have real family and friends and sometime they do share what is going on at work with friends and family because they love what they are working on. So we may be leaks that are not sourced but it may still be true. Just as likely to be true as an Art guy who has heard the tech guys are having issues with a WiiU devkit so the WiiU must be lame

Oh I thought someone was disagreeing. argh, misread.

I was playing RE: Darkside Chronicles with a friend, and another friend came over. He was staring at us for a while so I offered to let him play. He said he wouldn't even touch a Wiimote because he thought it had the 'kiddy disease'.

OH GOD. REALLY?

Claire Redfield is mega-sexy in that game.

Samus with bigger boobies would see so much more to the kiddies

Harker said that those games look pretty hot, and assuming that the Wii U is capable of using UE4, I think we are in for a suprise.

And special guy: I just don't get why you post here. It's of course not a bad thing being critical. But you don't even support your own opinion, no, you edit it out.

Maybe I will eat crow at E3 when Nintendo shows a console as powerful as 1/2 Xbox 360, but at least I will able to admit that I was too naive and too hyped.

Yeah, I heard something from one of my co-workers to the effect of "Nintendo is done because they're incapable of catering to a typical adult gamer."

I looked him dead in the face and told him, "no, they'll succeed because they don't pander exclusively to your fickle demographic" and walked away.

Eh, I doubt Nintendo really wants to change its brand. In many people's eyes it's that magic company that makes Mario games and fun toys and that's fine. That should be their strength, not a weakness.

To clarify on what was said, it was more along the lines of Nintendo tweaked the Wii U to make sure it can run UE4.

which would explain the recent bump in specs... and apparently Nintendo is still tweaking the hardware. So it could get even better.

R U SERIUSS!?

Seriously though, where did you get this info?

*EDIT*: Nevermind,r ead the past page properly... :p

This is awesome news if true... imagine an advert for a Wii U launch title, first out of the next gen gate, with "Made with unreal Engine 4" slapped on at the end. Yum.

What most people don't get it is that Nintendo products aim for everyone. Just like Pixar movies; kids love them just like adults.

Well the only tweak that they would need to make is a DX11 capable GPU, so that pretty much rules out a 48xx class part, as you cant just ask AMD to 'bolt on' additional 'bits' to a 4yr old design...can they?

Of course being able to run UE4 is different to being able to run UE4 well, i mean, any budget class DX11 GPU today will be able to run UE4, but it will run like dogshit.

Chances are the GPU barely resembles a 48xx card anymore. It'll have been tweaked beyond recognition by the time the system releases, with updated shaders, tessellation and efficiency.

I remember another company that had the underdog image problem; Apple

Nintendo can change this image with WiiU if they wanted to but when this kiddie thing started it was about a few generations ago now most of these people are grown up and have kids. Now if you want a Semase Street game Wii is not your console of choice to get that experience the Xbox with Kinect is. So this image issue is bullshit and the people who are feeling pressured to hid their Wii or get rid of them so their friends will not laugh is just weaksauce people to begin will lol.

Nintendo should hold on strongly to that image because that image sells truckloads of hardware during the holidays it is good for business

What they really need to do is win over the hardcore by also getting things like GTA V and never being left out of those types of games

Would be nice to run UE4 on the tablet. 720 p on the big screen is probably asking too much :p

PSO... oh the nights I've played this with my buddies in Splitscreen after Work. The rings under our eyes grew with each level we achieved^^ It was amazing. We would always get some beer and pizza and then just start playing for hours.

It might be the only game outside of Timesplitters 2 and 3 that my buddies played for longer than 200 hours.

If they bring a similar game to WiiU, then I'll force them into buying one.
