Except I have a Vita and I like the hardware
(I'm sure my progression from getting the Vita early to today would be fun to read through all these Vita threads)
. Sorry. I didn't know these threads were just for "Vita is the bestest thing ever".

Damn people who have legitimate concerns about a device they care about.
Damn people who respond to posts directed at them too.
Damn anyone who has any negative thoughts about anything ever.

Its not that, its just so damn early ive heard it all before so it gets repetitive. I heard the same thing with the 3DS when it came out. All we had was SSF3D which was outdated because of Arcade edition, STEEL diver, Pilotwings (mini games basically) and a few other meh titles. Down the road we had what? Mercenaries, again another remake that was out already with RE5 and a remake of OOT. We also heard the same thing with the PS3, it was selling like shit, nothing on the horizon, it cost too much, 'it has competition now with 360" etc. Like the PS3, Sony will do whatever they need to do to make the Vita successful. If they need to release a monster hunter, they will do it. If they need to release a FF remake they will. Sony isn't deaf or blind, they will listen to what we want and they will deliver like they always do. People need not discount CoD either because this game can and will sell a fuck ton of untis to the CoD fanatics out there.

Also, when you say games don't interest you well thats YOU. Its like some people want luxury cars, some want sports cars, some want trucks etc. You cant just ignore that those games exist because a lot of people are looking forward to them. I can sit here and say 'Halo, CoD, GTA, Uncharted, GT5 and Gears dont interest me' but that doesn't discount the fact they are massive games with a massive audience and will sell a fuck ton of units.

Geez. :( Only Gravity Rush excites me and I'll probably double dip on MGS HD (Currently just finished MGS2 earlier today).

looking forward to some more announcements or titles sneaking out of nowhere.

same really disappointing.....retro rampage looks ok but just a psn release...

edit: Dragons Crown looks interesting...

hope there are some good AAA ones announced at e3 like god of war, etc...i dont really care for any jrpg's but understand that its important for japanese dev support in general..

If I download a JP PSP game, will I be able to play it while logged into my US account?

Nope, would have to do the factory reset each time at the moment. Only some demos seem to work.

Bought flying hamster, thanks for the recommendation, awesome price for a fun, decent game.

Any word on vice city stories performance on vita?

I think my part in this discussion blew up to the point where it seems like I'm saying the Vita is doomed. That's not my point at all. This all began with me trying to express the sentiment that I really want to play my Vita but there is very little coming anywhere in the near future. And that is cause for concern on my end.

It then became a thing where people insist the Vita's Japanese support is solid. But that's just wrong. It's not. Saying it is solid is ignoring the numbers. So in my attempt to get the point across, I've become a doomsayer.

I don't know why I let myself get caught up in arguments. I hate them. Sometimes it feels like I'm just contrarian. I always end up on the wrong side of the thread and my feelings get hurt as people throw accusations at me and I try to respond to explain with my poor english and it gets worse and worse and AGHHH.

I'll just stop and keep my thoughts to myself.

Boo. Thanks anyways. Looks like my quest to play SRW Z2.2 gets harder and harder.

I feel I need to clarify my position. I'm not saying the Vita is doomed. I'm saying I am extremely concerned about the future. That's it. I don't know why that's not allowed.

It is allowed; but it seems premature at this point. In Japan, SONY is still making a gentle transition from their massive PSP audience; and the Vita is still waiting for its killer app, which I guarantee SONY is prepping for when the time is right.

Couple things to note about the US market: 1) from what I gather, the majority of Vita owners are legitimately smitten with the quality of the device and its launch software, which makes them ready and willing to keep supporting it; and 2) the device launched into the hands of the enthusiasts in a non-holiday time of year--this gives SONY time to let marketing and word of mouth make it to the ears of the masses before the big holiday push.

I've been a PSP owner since its launch window and, although I liked what the device was all about, it always felt like it was coming up short as a gaming experience; contrast this with my Vita experience: I never, ever want to put the device down. My Vita is with me wherever I am because it's truly a full-featured 21st century gaming experience that I never have to leave behind. Everyone I've shown the device to is blown away by it, and I can see a large number of them picking one up--along with the masses--after the first small price drop.

I believe that, much like myself, people in this thread don't see the point of being concerned about the future of the Vita because, quite frankly, we're all having a blast with it. I think the 3DS is a piece of sh*t, but I still own one b/c of the Nintendo franchises that are sure to be terrific; and look at the PS3: it has the worst sales numbers between the three current-gen consoles, yet it also has, by far, the strongest exclusive software library of them all.

So, in conclusion: you can worry all you want; but why not spend the time in a more enjoyable way by playing your Vita and showing it off to all your gaming friends?

so... is ghost of sparta longer than chains of olympus? because while it was fun it was very short, even by gow standards.

And does ghost of sparta have less jaggies than chains? Dang that game needed some aa on psp.

Near music is absolutely terrible, keeps me away from that app like the plague. There doesn't seem to be a way to disable it, same with the store music.... mute is all we get.

Another pet peeve I have are the triggers on this thing, I really don't like them :)

frequency, i think most of us understand your concerns and partially share them. But i also think that your preferences, what you've played and not, the fact you almost "finished" all the psp catalog, does not represent the average gamer. It's been out for less than a month, and one unexpected factor is that Vita vastly improves the psp experience, so backwards compatibility is a strong value for the vita too, extending software offerings for the majority. As for myself I have confidence in the future of this device.

has anyone else noticed the ad for modern warfare in MLB the show?

I was playing against the yankees and on the ad's it showed the logo for COD (you know, the lines. looks like a heart rate... that one lol) Not sure if its just a coincidence or it means something

My import of Gravity Daze is a bit bitter sweet. On the one hand, it's a beautiful game, with tight gameplay and an interesting world to explore. On the other, everything is in Japanese and I'm feeling a bit left out of the entire experience, which I naturally expected to some degree.

I'm going to make the most of it, because it really shines though I'll probably have to do a bit of homework to determine what I'm leveling up.

Edit: Actually, can point me in the direction of a translation for the leveling menu? I'm sure I'll figure out the rest on my own, haha.

No no nooo! I don't want it to be like that, this is a forum which is great for expressing your opinion but I think some of us can agree that this is a bit premature. The system has been out for a month and we haven't had any significant conferences for any real announcements (not talking the Japanese gaming heaven thing). If E3 rolls around and there is nothing new for the Vita, you can start to worry but i'd bet my life that isnt going to happen.

A lot of those in the post I responded to are already out. Only a few of them are future releases. And some of them we haven't even heard from for a very long time and have no date. Go look at the Japanese release schedules and go look at how Japan is responding to that and how the Vita is doing because of it.

It's not a situation where there are a ton of games and I'm just not interested in them. Saying that there isn't an issue with lack of support is just wrong. Japan itself is telling you that Japanese support is weak right now.

Hmm... it is young like 3DS during its first few months. The Japanese gamers are spoilt by 3DS's larger and better library at this point. They will definitely feel that the Vita library is weak comparatively.

But it still doesn't mean there is no Japanese support. You are not interested in some that are released so far. And as you mentioned, some are still not out yet. The list you responded to is also not comprehensive (e.g., I don't see Ciel no Surge on that list).

I feel I need to clarify my position. I'm not saying the Vita is doomed. I'm saying I am extremely concerned about the future. That's it. I don't know why that's not allowed.

I don't know if you're not allowed to be concerned, but I'm saying your concerns are based on incomplete info and personal preferences.

EDIT: Ah you did mention Ciel no surge in your own reply. Then perhaps we should wait for more info ?

what the - i was so looking forward to Ruin. That's pretty bad news.

Any reasons that you'd be able to share? :/

I'm sure they needed to license it to use it in the game, but I bet you would really see such ads at a real stadium. I have no doubt though that a CoD is on the way.

*edit* Maybe not. I'm dumb. *edit*

Shit.

Yea that seems rather peculiar way to announce, and unprofessional I dare say. Especially for a game that had been shown in actual playable builds.

That is really shitty news...and for it to spill out on GAF like that.

It's not a good sign when games are dropping. So far, the vita has been my favourite hand held, but it seems like it's not being given a fighting chance. Like it's been sent out to die.

Vs - 3DS
Vs - iPad

PSVita am doomed? :'(

Id rather get the scoop here then some of them other scab game sites.

I agree Vita is a fucking awesome handheld and I hope this isn't a sign of more to come like this.

Man...I just got this fuckin thing and was getting into the groove with all these psp games. To hear this...and now I think about it and realize there really isn't much for me to look forward too. In fact, I WAS looking forward to RUIN to scratch that lootwhore itch on the go.

Fuck...
I really hope this is all made up and a lie...

I just view it as another sign of the times...

Vita is awesome, the only bad news here is this man's job fell through :(.

If real of course...

Insane For Sony
SCE caned Warrior's Lair? They generally don't can anything unless it's really bad in some way, even if it appears unsellable from the onset. This being a Diablo clone is anything but unsellable too.

Maybe he's not in the company anymore... we'll see if it's true in a few hours.

Industry contracts have a clause that does not permit sharing company information after a certain period of time.

The only reason is that the person is disgruntled and is quitting the industry because information leaking is pretty much a career ending mistake.

Sorry stutte, your post history makes you look capable of trollishness, at least enough to be skeptical . I will continue to be optimistic and look forward to Warrior's Lair. Time will reveal the truth.

Edit: This post seems really mean now, sorry to hear of the layoff. :(

Well, checking his post history, it seems that is concept artist (or at least he posted some concepts) and seems to work in game industry (or at least he say some things that show inner knowledge about game development). So... :(
