If the stuff about used games is true, I will not buy this console.

Out of curiosity, where do you plan on playing video games?
I'll just play the hundreds of games I already own. I'll divert funds that would go towards new games/consoles to buying more expensive retro stuff I want.

No BC is.. both a curse and a blessing.
I'm glad they're going with a more traditional architecture, but losing all our PSN games... :-/

God I hope MS leverage XBLA and BC properly.

I am all good for the blocking used games or having to unlock them, though I will shed a tear for all of the magazine racks that will forever remain untoppled.

BUT no BC? Yeah this will have to be rectified and I do not mean in the "we will work on adding it down the line" fashion.
I am sure they have enough cel processors piled up that they can sweep some up and put them in for pure bc purposes ala the 60 gig launch PS3.

bish gets all the credit :)
I have a feeling these anti-used game leaks are simply controlled leaks so that Sony and MS can refer the game devs to threads like these all over the internet.

Throw out a completely shitty idea and hope people take it deep aka gauge their reactions.

No BC kinda sucks, but I guess it's no big deal...I'll just have to keep my ps3.
I always buy my games new anyway, so DD or retail doesn't bother me. I'm just wondering how long it's going to take to download these 50gb games @_@

This next generation is going to be strange to say the least. If the rumours are true, the PS4 will be on it's own power wise, with the XBOX as a happy middle, Wii U behind by 20%.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
That pastebin reads like some real console warrior bullshit. Yes, sure, the next Playstation is going to ship without a hard-drive, and the PS4 is conveniently half exactly of what the Xbox3 specs are in very easily 64 vs 32, 8 vs 4 gb terms.

Cmon son.

If all this anti-used nonsense come true, I'll just stick with my PC. Yea, I can't resell my steam library either, but I didn't pay $40-$60 per game either.

...and won't play used game, im' buying a gaming PC...

...and most likely keep using Steam&GOG&Origin that don't allow used games anyway? That's what they are going with this you know.

Backwards compatibility would be really important but i understand the super difficult emulation required for the Cell (or it would have to have onboard Cell too)

there are going to be people questioning why you don't have it hooked up 24/7, not understanding that not everyone wants to or can.

-My PS3 is in my basement. It is not possible for me to get my ethernet cord down there.

-I have absolutely no need for wireless.

-Sometimes I just want to hop on my PS3 and not sign in. I don't want people to start messaging me. I just want to play my games.

-Not everyone in the world has the internet, nevermind broadband.

No backwards compatibility is a mistake. Especially with their semi-aggressive support of digital distribution.

Both Sony and Microsoft may not realize it, but they're in competition with my Steam download list, which is damn near sacrosanct. Every time they pull a game from download, or break with compatibility, Steam looks all the better.

Yeah, every single spec is half the power of the other one. All seems like some crazy person rambling, no wonder no website would pick him up. And no hard drive? Bwahaha.

I thought having BC with a different GPU manufacturer is hard/relies too much on emulation? So that wouldn't be THAT surprising, if PS4 has a different CPU AND GPU architecture.

I don't often borrow games, but I have shared all my consoles with other users. If I can't have a different user use my game without worrying about quicksaves, autosaves and things like that, fuck them.

Sony won't have backwards compatibility for PS4 but the reasoning is actually good this time around. They should get rid of the way they have been doing things, it's worth it for the bigger picture.

We have a dev website owned by Sony though.
and a leak from a bunch of months ago (the pastebin) that confirms the name Orbis.

This doesn't affect me at all but really how long did you guys think used software was going to last when literally everywhere else in electronics you can not sell used software? This has been coming for a long time and i say good. Get rid of the garbage middle men sucking away profits from developers.

I also find it interesting how I see many posters say no next Gen because they say it will kill devs then bemoan the idea of no used games. Think about what this has a chance to cause. MP will stop getting shoehorned into everything and we can actually get complete sp games again. I miss those days.

Having not read all of the fine print, if true, is this as cut and dry as two users with IDs on the same console will require two different copies of the same title to experience the same game fully? And two users in the same household with two or more units and the same two IDs on all of them will also need multiple copies of the same title?

Lets be honest here though. I'd trust Steam over Sony/MS, they have proven they can do DD right while the other two have failed (pricing and such). Also Steam is not going to take away my games because of a exploit that allows homebrew. :p

Even down to a 32-bit CPU that's pretty hilarious

Online to play? Pass.

This won't work I can bet.
The console will probably have the ability to launch games as long as your ID is present on the console.

Probably the end of easily switcheable multiple accounts though.

I don't understand why PS4 would have an issue running (most) PSN titles. Something like Castle Crashers or Scott Pilgrim would be too hard to emulate? WTF. A PC has millions of different possible hardware combinations, but in 99% of cases there's no "backwards compatibility" hurdles to overcome unless it's dealing with something like a 10-15 year OS difference.

Can someone explain to me what is so unique about the Cell that emulating PSN games would be so difficult to do?
