Kamaya has to be up to something. My guess is either Bayonetta 2 or Shinobi. If Sega was happy with Bayonetta's sales surely they would either have him work on a sequel or give him an even higher profile property. I still think something will be announced at E3.

It makes me sad to see game companies that I cherish falter to the point that they might be gone from the industry. :(

As a massive Football Manager fan, I finally gave in and picked up FM Handheld when it went on sale for $4.99 from $9.99. There are only 4,952 people on the GameCenter leaderboard. Insane.

Kamiya has said more than once on Twitter that he would "NEVER" work on a Shinobi game of any sort. So that much likely is out.

That said, I suppose the sky's the limits for whatever else he could stand to be working on.

Sometimes I really hate this gen.
By the time the real damage is seen and understood it will be too late, too many of the classic companies will be out of business.
It will be random big named war shooter of the year, random nintendo recycle of the year, and random big named football game of the year and clones there of.

I do think that companies are way too slow to use the tools that the internet gives them for getting their games out there and getting feedback on ideas and this is also sad.

If Bayo 2 was dropped to keep PSO2 alive, good.

Sucks, Sega has been the only major publisher taking risks lately. The Platinum stuff and Yakuza/Binary have elevated Sega to Japanese publishing house of this generation for me.

Let's hope they didn't cancel the Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia XBLA/PSN releases considering they're already developed...

Terrible news. I honestly wonder why Sega hasn't just mined its own IPs for this gen. They have a TON. Instead, they've just become a publisher of mostly unproven IPs...and Sonic. I thought they were on a roll latey, too.

Aliens is also not going to perform as well as they think, with the FPS market being crowded and SP games being largely ignored. I don't think they're going to see a ton of sales at the $60 price point.

No, it was the economic collapse that happened to occur at the same time as the transition. If this tech came to pass ten years ago, things would be a lot different.

Just poor timing, sadly.
A recession is not the reason for game budgets getting larger. If anything, you should be cutting budgets. I will also say revenues have increased while.profits have decreased. So, no, it isn't the economy.

And those games are the exact reason why I stopped caring about Sega as a publisher. Sadly I think there aren't enough people in your camp to keep Sega afloat. :(

Poor sega.

Hmmm I can assume yakuza dead souls bombed since I haven't heard many people talk about it :(

smh at me waiting for a price drop to buy, it's my fault too.

Damn Sega still acting stupid is what caused this loss, also people not buying great games like Bayonetta..

Anyway if Sega had put out games like Phantasy Star Online HD, Chu Chu Rocket HD, JSR HD, MSR HD, Shenmue HD ( the list goes on forever ) then they would have made a shitload of money.

Sonic Colors & Generations say fugouttahere
for real though, did you play those?

Yes, and both were average to boring. I genuinely don't understand the praise they got - I can only assume it's from starved Sonic fans who are so abused that the slightest sniff of a Sonic game that isn't complete garbage is just praised to the Heavens.

How would hd versions of games that never sold well in the first place make them a ton of cash?

Because by now these titles are cult classics that are still amazing to play.

Upscale them and release them on XBLA/PSN and see the money rolling in that's what I say.

I can only pray JSR HD is not being canned, that would seriously suck.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol

You overestimate how much Dreamcast nostalgia is really out there. Out of all of those, I'd wager that only PSO HD would have made any significant money.

also wanted to post: Not sure why so many people are blaming this on "HD". tools and asset creations have moved on; there probably is an ease to development with engines etc that comes from getting familiar with the tools.

The problem here is that their games aren't sleeping. Who to blame? changing markets + 2nd hand games + mobile gaming imo.

How about they let Sonic die in a gutter and save both Bayo 2 and PSO2.

I assume the Jet Set Radio port is close enough to complete that this won't affect it's release?

Really? I mean Chu Chu Rocket is the perfect game for multiplayer XBLA/PSN. Put in the camera function on XBLA and bam, amazing mp title. Complete with leaderboards built in for the single player challenges. How does that not rake in a ton of cash?

Odd that there wasn't any DLC new levels for Generations, would have been easy money, since people wanted more levels from the older Sonic games to be in this game.
My guess is that any work that would've gone into Generations DLC probably just got pushed over to Dimensions.

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Man, fuck this planet. I know everyone and their mother enjoys hating on Sega and all, but I've been really happy with them for the past few years. I feel like they were finally getting it back together. I mean, hell, they even made a Sonic game that didn't suck ass. Lunacy.

Bayo 2. :(
