They just announced a new version of Rock Band that plays completely different than the previous ones that will come out via XBLA, and the thousands of pieces of DLC you already bought for RB1/2/3 will work in it, and you can export it's songs back to RB3 and play it there if you want.

My xbox is also having weird disk read problems, it keeps reading all my disks as DVD's, initially installing games worked, but over the last week or so slowing even installed games have been having the problem, last couple of days it takes like a ton of restarts to get anything to register.

Anyone have any advice on how to fix the problem, im going to open the console up and try and clean the laser if all else fails.

I think Bungie said they designed The Arena to eliminate boosting and cheating.

It worked! It's a pity it also eliminated players.

Visible ranks have no place in Halo anymore. They just cause too much problems that we don't need to have, especially when the underlying system is in effect in every playlist anyway.

Ranked is somewhere you go because you want ot play seriously and have a competitive game, while showing off your mad skillz. It gives everyone an idea of your skill level. I would be able to get a decent idea of the opposition's skill level by their rank.

I've said this a lot, but Arena would work IF it is shown next to your GT (by the military rank). People need to care about Arena ranks - that's one way of doing so.

my reach disc got scratched up somehow. I thought installing it from a friend's disc and just using mine for the one that it doesn't read would work. I guess it doesn't.

That should work, thats how I got my Black Ops to work when the disk got scratched up. Might be worth checking if your console can run other games.

Go read Frankie's reply to Fyre today it should provide some insight. Fyre was talking about specific technical hurdles preventing TU changes from happening before the TU hit. One of the most memorable was the description of how Halo's map files work and how many things you see on a map are actually hardcoded into the map file.

Fyre was both right and wrong on some of his claims about the TU, and when folks were calling him out on his errors, the .map association was made because of how he constantly refereed to specific limitations of the .map files.

It was a joke, it's well played out, but like the Tashi Ceiling, it won't be going away any time soon from folk's memories.

Yeah, 1-50 brought cheating and boosting to the table, I'd rather have a mix of both (3 and Reach's systems).

Any player reward that is worth getting is something that will bring cheating and boosting into the game. Reach's rewards are largely unfulfilling. Give me something worth cheating for in the first place then ban the living bananas out of the players that cheat.
