If I'm interpreting this patent right, the Wii U controller will/might be able to control other devices like DVD's, TV's, etc. The patent is from Universal Electronics Inc. I don't know how affiliated they are with Nintendo but why would they include the Wii U, an unreleased gaming console, as an example if it wasn't going to have the feature?

Has it been confirmed by Nintendo that the Wii U will be able to do this kind of stuff?

Wouldn't surprise me, as the Wii already does that (the functionality comes with some Japan only TV guide channel). It sends IR signals via the Sensor Bar to control the TV. Pretty clever concept.

Was just about to post this. I really would like a Virtual Console release of the 64DD cartridge. Sure, there is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, but it's not the same thing. Ocarina of Time version 1.0 and 1.1 (I'm not fond of version 1.3 due to Nintendo bending over to appease some religious groups over a controversial chant in Fire Temple) are great games that up to this date provide new things to be found. Ura Zelda could become very popular if Wii U features a nice online community with chat functions etc., that is if the unfinished build is released anyway and Nintendo doesn't tinker with it much.

Not true.

The change of music was done even before the 1.0 version was released, but only appeared in version 1.3.

So either Nintendo foresaw the outcry before the game even came out or they just wanted a safety net in case it would happen.

They have been looking into this, but nothing has been said about the Wii U having that cabalility. Though, with Nintendo you never know.

I really hope they include it! I have so many controllers for everything and it would be awesome if I could control everything on the U pad's screen.

Before there was much info on the Wii, I really thought it was going to be capable of hooking up to cable television because of the Wii "remote" and the Wii "channels." Definitely a missed opportunity.

Discussed in the MC thread. It's the first Korean Nintendo Direct, probably for the launch of 3DS there on April 28. i.e. Probably nothing new for outside of Korea.
