Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

Well let's take a vote then to get this over with...

1. Breaking the Ceiling
2. The Halo Honor Podcast
3. Dongcast

Those seem to be the 3 most popular.

I vote for 1. It has a nice ring to it

2, but I still think we can do better. Not crazy about any of those.

Right before you go on, I would like to take a few seconds to remind you Firefight has been cut and it's been confirmed (pretty much everywhere aka Kotaku) that Spartan Ops will be nothing close to a replacement.
Not like this... Not like this.

I'll truly miss firefight but at the same time, if I'm honest, I know the formula needs to develop along new lines. The purely defensive modes that set the current bar need to evolve into something with more variety in objectives and pacing.

I'm actually hyped for what Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is doing with their new Guerrilla mode. 50 waves to win, broken up like horde into 10 wave sets that are capped with a boss wave. But here's where they mix the formula up: The first wave is a stealth assault on a designated HQ. Once you clear it of enemies you then hold that position against waves of attackers all the way through the tenth boss wave. At that point the designated HQ moves to another complex on the map and your team has to assault this new position before holding it for the next 10 waves. And every wave your player survives grants you points you can use to deploy battlefield support options. This is exactly the kind of alternation of assault and defense I was hoping to see more of. And its a natural progression of the mode without going the story-driven/objective Spec Ops route.

But Spartan Ops? Its too early to tell but I'm hoping it has the simple fun and replayability of a solid Firefight match.

Can someone make me an avatar of Cortana from that picture? (not a scan, from article above)

Dongcast if it must be one of these.

Ceiling thing is already getting old, so a name for a podcast based on it can only get worse and worse with time.

Have a name yet?

Change text/font? Please post suggestion if you have them.
If you guys don't like it I'll scrap it and try something new.

Honestly, I think there's too much "noise". The BR is a nice touch, but the chair thingies are distracting.

Perhaps crop it to only show the helmet, a part of the body, and the mic?

The Golden Tripodcast

Social Skirmish is good.

Yeah, those are great. Really liked the latter's logo, too.

Yeah, Social Skirmish is great, and the logo for it is fantastic.

We gotta be able to come up with something better than what we currently have. GAF>internet>GAF for a reason!
We can't use Social Skirmish that's the THC show.

I'm still thinking it's completely possible that there will be some firefight missions in spartan ops. It was stated in the game informer magazine that there won't be a dedicated firefight gamemode. That doesn't mean that there won't be any firefight scenarios in spartan ops.

Topping it off with a campaign trailer and the release date. ^_^
Only one of those is at all possible, me thinks :(

I don't think either o those will come from Game Informer. They did this type of thing for Reach as well, as there wasn't really anything hype-worthy other than the actual cover story from the magazine. The extra stuff they do throughout the month is just interviews and stuff usually without a lot of substance when it comes to the actual game.

HaloGAF Wrecking Crew?
Big Team Banter?
HaloGAF: Podcast Evolved?
HaloGAF After Action Report?
HaloGaf RampantCast?
The Sandbox?

Just spit-balling here.

I normally hate the word banter but I think Big Team Banter would be a brilliant name.

Good piece, and I really dig that concept art.

I wish these kind of interviews were allowed to be interviews, rather than snipping out all the questions. I've always found these one-sided videos where we don't see what's being asked rather odd.

The interviewee is supposed to be instructed to repeat the question in his/her answer.

Question: What are you changing with Halo 4?

Answer: The changes were making to Halo 4 are an evolution of Halo 3.

If done right, you won't need to hear the question asked to know what question was asked.

Ehh, I'm with Steelyuhas - I think we can do better than those three.

1. Breaking the Ceiling Tired joke, not very descriptive of the content.
2. The Halo Honor Podcast A bit presumptuous and still not descriptive...
3. Dongcast I wouldn't want anyone to see that on my iPod...

Most Joked About =/= Best Title

I like Hyper's idea of:
??? - The HaloGAF Podcast

Simple and clear. We just need to find a good word for the ??? part so we don't have to say "The HaloGAF Podcast" aloud every time.

I understand that, but I still find the monologue style less interesting or coherent than a conversation with actual back and forth.

What about:

Going Round in Circles

Sums up our discussion (AR, BR, Favourite maps to be remade, Bloom), and fits with the Halo theme.

Do what we've done at FUD. Shorthand it's the Fudcast, so --> Gafcast.

Speaking of which...

Gafcast isn't really specific enough is it? It's a big forum!
