I don't mind time skips either but Saki Achiga-hen just handled the first episode confusingly. Maybe it was a lack of attention but I was seriously befuddled about which girl went to which middle school, then which middle to high school.

This doesn't diminish my love for Saki though. cajun, you should watch it. and there's a lot of potential [REDACTED] and yuri subtext!

As I said in my response to you some time back, it wasn't confusing at all. You seem to have missed the on-screen text label saying when the main timeskip occurred.

I think it was at some point after Cola of Cthulhu that I realized there was no point in trying to fight this horrible evil that defies all logic anymore. I will watch this and hope that I'm lucky enough to be one of the first to be eaten when the time comes. Sanity is overrated anyway.

Apparently, the real-life hot springs inn that was the model for Kissuiso in Hanasaku Iroha got a decent business boost from the anime, or at least that's what they're attributing the 7% year-over-year increase in customers to, which includes a 40% boost around the month when the show finished.

Yep, this is definitely this decade's Excel Saga. It's a hyper-active reference-mania who's cute and beyond super genki heroine pines for the love of a male who not only has no interest in her, but is pretty damn violent in protest.

This is not a bad thing per say, but while I loved Excel Saga when I first watched it it's become very difficult to rewatch it. I'll stick it out, because while Nyaruko is cute, Kuko is even cuter! :3

Winter break in US schools prior to college is like 2 weeks at most. Japan's summer break is a month IIRC (this is based on Persona 4, so don't quote me on that).

Summer break in Japan is after the first term of the academic year, so it makes sense for there to be homework at that point. The end of the academic year is after the spring term so for a couple of weeks in March.

Winter break in US schools prior to college is like 2 weeks at most. Japan's summer break is a month IIRC (this is based on Persona 4, so don't quote me on that).

My point is that it's not the ridiculous length of summer breaks in the US. There isn't any sort of month break only in the US except Winter break for colleges.

ANN hardly ever does reviews though, especially of anything recent. I don't listen to many anime podcasts, but it doesn't seem like they focus on current stuff too much. Though I noticed your podcast talked about some newer stuff...

They do reviews when they don't have guests. These top ten things are basically reviews - except it's just old men talking about old shit because ALL NEW ANIME SUCKS.

They do manage to get guests for most weeks though, but if you have no interest in hearing yet another story about what it's like to sub a show or whatever, it's kind of old hat at some point.

Eh, you don't really need ot know mahjong to like the series. It might help, but it isn't necessary.

Yeah, the longer timeskips were in ep. 1, but as I said, ep. 2 covers something like 6-9 months... I agree that it works reasonably well -- they want to quickly get from the time when they were accepted into high school to the time when the school year starts -- but it does skip a bunch.

I'm just saying no one would buy a MJ series... and that the timeskip was very much like the Chihayafuru one.
