Emma is such a low-key show it would be hard to take a classic 'rival plot' seriously. Everyone is too busy glancing at each other and being polite.

One really, really dumb part of Emma that other's might not pick up on is how everyone 'casually' bumps into each other, or spots each other, all the time.
In London, an area of several hundred square miles. The way the show depicts people's encounters you'd think that there were about 5 streets in the whole capital.

Shirou is dumb. You'll find out the sheer extent of his dumbness later on in the anime. You should really play the visual novel though.

Shirou is as dumb as a bag of dumb things.
I doubt that wealthy Victorian elites ventured into the 90% of the city inhabited by dirty poors, so it doesn't seem entirely improbable that the characters frequently meet each other by chance. It may be a genteel show, but that doesn't mean that the characters aren't raging classists!

I'm surprised you'd say something like this having watched the first three episodes of the series. I thought episode 2 was particularly clear that

This show hits all the right notes to make us root for Mutta. He's goofy without being an idiot. He's smart without being condescending. Despite his declaration that the older brother should lead the younger, he's not bitter that his younger brother has surpassed him. The scene where Mutta
is probably going to be my favorite scene in the entire series. It exemplifies exactly why his character is so lovable.
Mysterious Girlfriend X 2
Between Urabe dictating the rules of their relationship, to Tsubaki nearly getting cut up every time he tries to make a move, the show so far has felt like a metaphor for that first love with a girl who is obviously more experienced with relationships. Questions arise in our minds like, "Am I doing this right?", "Shouldn't we be doing this?" All of it thus far makes me believe that relationships are an all too familiar experience for Urabe.
All I know is that my jaw was wide open while I was watching this so my girlfriend thought it fitting to use her finger to accumulate her own drool and promptly insert it into my mouth. Needless to say, like Chihayafuru makes karuta seem much more cooler than it is, Mysterious Girlfriend X makes sucking drool from the finger of another seem more enjoyable than what reality dictates.

When you watch it from the right angle, it's pretty damn comedic how inept Shirou is.
This read like a nice impression of two great shows until the bolded part, where it really just got bizarre and took on a life of its own.

But I am okay with Rin and her magnificent zettai ryouki stay over. Especially with an apron. Though it's not a smart idea in the long run.
But Saber is continued for the story to actually continue so she's gonna take matters into her own hands.
I await to see if Shirou somehow makes this worse...

This show does have a certain level of fabulousness to it. He vows to capture EVE.
Its like this show actually does attempt to explain things but its so badly edited and paced the result is just a complete clusterfuck mess of scenes being hastily tied together.

I really hope Chihayafuru keeps having a great and fast pacing. Cause KnT right now is pretty slow going and I don't want to watch 2 anime at the same time that go nowhere.
