ScrewAttack's Top 10 Franchises That Need To Die

I would switch Metal Gear with Dynasty Warrior.

Dynasty Warrior didn't need to die. It just needs some combat overhaul. Metal Gear just dragged on for too long.

Replace Final Fantasy with Mario Kart and it's a decent list

Did I correctly guess their reasoning?

I agree.

Especially "Madden".
While he was legendary in his own day, I'm not sure his relevance will persist.

Then of course, the terrible gameplay.

Stupid list that reeks of the worst of "core" gamer intolerance and hipster hatred of anything popular. Should be popular with with GamefaqsGaf.

I don't really get complaints about Dynasty Warriors, since its not like the games are consuming resources from talent we'd rather see other work from, or receiving massive promotions we'd rather other more deserving games receive. Its always struck me as a B or C-tier franchise with a niche audience that manages to support itself.

If I was to take the list seriously, the issue is it's full of franchises that still sell amazingly well and/or get great receptions. Silent Hill is probably a franchise that legitimately needs to die, for instance, since it not only sells poorly but have been really poor games.

You aren't alone. Not sure why these guys would even worry about it.

I really have no problems with any of these franchises.

Dynasty Warriors is still one of my favorite series.

Madden doesn't need to die so much as get a decent revision.

Wow, I don't care about any one of those franchises.

Microsoft's milked the Halo series pretty well with 5 games on one platform. Well, 6 if you include the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary title.

Madden can "die" the moment something replaces it, but nothing really can it seems.

Really though, wanting franchises to die is quite dumb. I guess making a thoughtless list (after list after list) on such a dumb criteria(s) is still a good idea because it gets a lot of attention.

So how long until Nervous Nick is next on Craig's "Knife in the Back" list?

SA is only popular because of the AVGN, and they continue to leech on other, better entertainers like Keith Apicary and Brentalfloss. The site's almost like a parasite.

Remind me of screwattack's history of drama?

Dynasty Warriors shouldn't be on there. While a lot of people don't bother with dynasty warriors, the people who do absolutely love the game. I don't play it myself, but know some people who do and they are fanatic about the series. I can see the appeal of it.

Not having Sonic at number one seems like such an amazing oversight.

Seeing that series take a slow and painful decline over the years has been like watching a cat die of cancer.

Think its been more like a out of control roller coaster.

Some really steep drops, but some recent highs with Generations and Colors.

I think there's still mileage left in the Halo universe. At least we'll know after Halo 4 comes out.

I almost agree with the LEGO series (which I'm a big fan of), but only if they stop making improvements. The 3rd Star Wars one added a pretty neat RTS-lite mode that I think could be great with some tweaking (maybe in a LOTR games???) and it managed to have very impressive visuals and some great set pieces. The new LEGO Batman/DC is suppose to be adding voice acting and has an open world design if I remember correctly.

bad gameplay lol
Why are people defending Dynasty Warriors?

Because it's fun?

I swear, people who still go LOL DYNASTY WARRIORS haven't played it since the PS2 era.

(And yes, I know you've at least played Fist of the North Star, or the demo at least. That shit don't count. I openly acknowledge it's badness.)

Well I come from HaloGaf and I do not agree with this list. I do not feel it is accurate nor do I appreciate the folks who put together this list. This list is lousy. I like Halo.

I'd say many of those need some time off but I don't believe any of them should die. Suprised Sonic isn't there though.
